The properties of rice were studied on five rice cultivars (Ilpumbyeo, Samkwang, Goami-4, Dodamssal, and Thai rice), and employed two kinds of saccharification treatment methods (treatment I : rice shape, treatment II: grinding rice shape). Thai rice showed differences in width and length when compared to other cultivars of rice, and the Goami 4 had the lowest thousand-grain weight. The Goami4 and Dodamssal each showed high contents of amylose and resistant starch, and the water absorption rate was close to maximum at 90 minutes as well as the highest level of Goami 4 at all times. The qualities of highest water-binding capacity, solubility and swelling power was most significant in Thai rice. The lowest hardness level of wet rice resulted in the lowest hydration-related characteristics. High amylose content rice, in particular, showed low sugar content and slightly increased sugar content as the saccharification process improved (treatment II). On the other hand, high amylose cultivars had the same high degree of hardness as boiled rice. From these results, the Dodamssal was found to have the lowest viscosity at all temperatures but highest viscosity during the saccharification process, suggesting it may be successfully implemented as a thickener in rice beverage processing. The purpose of this study was to attempt to provide basic data on the development of rice beverage manufacturing technology, based upon the quality characteristics related to beverage processing of rice cultivars.
Grouting materials are used for the unification of superstructural and substructural body like bridge seat (shoe) or machinery pedestal and e.t.c by filling their intercalary voids. Accordingly, grouting materials have been developed and used mainly with products of high strength because those materials are constructed specially in a part receiving large or impact load. In this situation, the structural body constructed by grouting materials with high stiffness-centered (caused by high strength) products is apt to cause brittle failure when receiving over a limit stress and to cause cracks according to cumulative fatigue by continuous and cyclic load. In addition, grouting materials are apt to cause cracks by using too much rapid hardening agents that give rise to high heat of hydration to maintain high strength at early age. In this study, to overcome these problems, cement type grouting materials including powder of waste tire and resin as elastic materials which aim to be more stable construction and to be improvement of mother-body's unification are developed and endowed with properties of high toughness and high durability add to existing properties of high flowability, non-shrinkage and high strength. Besides, this study contribute to of for green construction materials for being possible recycling industrial waste like waste tire and flyash. On the whole, seven type mixing conditions are tested and investigated to choose the best mixing condition.
The paper presented investigates the effects of kaolinite on strength properties of alkali-activated multi-component cement. The binders of this study was blended of ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBFS), fly ash (FA), silica fume (SF) and kaolinite (KA). In this study, the specimens of combination of 20%~70% GGBFS, 10%~60% FA, 10% SF (constant ratio) and 10%~50% KA binder were used for strength properties tests. The water/binder ratio was 0.5. The binders (GGBFS + FA + SF + KA) was activated by sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and sodium silicate ($Na_2SiO_3$) was 10% by total binder weight (10% NaOH + 10% $Na_2SiO_3$). The research carried out is on the compressive strength, water absorption, ultrasonic pulse velocity (UPV) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The compressive strength decreased as the contents of KA increase. One of the major reason for this is the low reactivity of KA compared with other raw materials used as precursors such as GGBFS or FA. The presence of remaining KA indicates that the initially used quantity has not fully reacted during hydration. Moreover, the results have indicated that increased of KA contents decreased UPV under all experimental conditions. The drying shrinkage and water absorption increased as the content of KA increase. Test result clearly showed that the strength development of multi-component blended cement were significantly dependent on the content of KA and GGBFS.
We checked the conditions and material properties after producing the lime finishing layers with a mortar mix of processed lime. In addition, we reproduced the lime finishing layers of the Koguryo Tomb Murals, colored the layers with a few different techniques and identified the characteristics for each painting technique. As a result of the experiment, we could infer the producing techniques as well as teaming the conditions and properties of the lime finishing layers of the Koguryo tomb murals, and examined the maintenance of the lime finishing layers. Of those samples produced under various conditions, the layers of slaked lime, which were obtained after being hydrated underground for a long time, showed quite a good condition. Thus the slaked lime mixes produced through particular hydration methods are judged to increase the maintenance of the lime finishing layers of the Koguryo Tomb Murals. Mostly, the paints of Koguryo Tomb Murals indicated that they have similar conditions with the samples produced with a secco method. In addition, Considering the compositional forms of the painting layers and the boundary layers which formed between the painting layers and the finishing layers, we can verify that, in some cases, the conditions of the painting layers of the Koguryo tomb murals are similar to those which were produced with a combination of fresco and secco.
To determine the impact of artificial tears which include carboxymethyl cellulose on a hydrogel contact lenses. Methods: A contact lenses made of the cross-linking agent, EGDMA (ethylene glycol dimethacrylate) and HEMA (2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) and with added NVP (n-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone) and MMA (methyl methacrylate) was evaluated for water content, refractive index, spectral transmittance and contact angle of produced contact lens. Results: The physical properties of the sampled copolymerized polymers showed that water content, refractive index, visible ray transmittance and contact angle were in the range of 26.61%~48.58%, 1.422~1.455, 80.8%~91.4% and $33.93^{\circ}{\sim}65.70^{\circ}$, respectively. In addition, after soaking with artificial tears, the water content, refractive index and contact angle were in the range of 24.46%~48.25%, 1.422~1.457, 77.0%~91.0% and $37.25^{\circ}{\sim}77.33^{\circ}$, respectively. The changes of the physical property depending on hydration time and showed an increase of refractive index and contact angle, decrease of water content and visible ray transmittance. Conclusions: Artificial tears which include carboxymethyl cellulose sodium which is used as a wetting agent influenced water content, refractive index, contact angle and spectral transmittance of a hydrogel contact lenses.

The aim of this study is to investigate experimentally the effect of the combination of fine particle cement with high Blaine fineness (FC) and recycled aggregates on the engineering properties and micro structure of high volume blast furnace slag (BS) concrete with 75% BS and 21 MPa. FC manufactured by particle classification at the plant with Blaine fineness of more than $7000cm^2/g$ was used as additional alkali activator for high volume blast furnace slag concrete made with recycled fine and coarse aggregates. FC was replaced by 15, 20 and 25% OPC. Test results showed that the incorporation of FC resulted in an increase in the compressive strength compared to BS concrete without FC by as much as 30% due to accelerated hydration and associated latent hydraulic reaction. It was found that the use of FC and recycled aggregates played an important role in activating BS for high volume BS concrete by offering sufficient alkali.
Polymer-modified mortar and concrete are prepared by mixing either a polymer or monomer in a dispersed, or liquid form with fresh cement mortar and concrete mixtures, and subsequently curing, and if necessary, the monomer contained in the mortar or concrete is polymerized in situ. Although polymers and monomers in any form such as latexes, water-soluble polymers, liquid resins, and monomers are used in cement composites such as mortar and concrete, it is very important that both cement hydration and polymer phase formation proceed well the yield a monolithic matrix phase with a network structure in which the hydrated cement phase and polymer phase interpenetrate. In the polymer-modified mortar and concrete structures, aggregates are bound by such a co-matrix phase, resulting in the superior properties of polymer-modified mortar and concrete compared to conventional mortar and concrete. The purpose of this study is to obtain the necessary basic data to develope appropriate latexes as cement modifiers, and to clarify the effects of the monomer ratios and amount of emulsifier on the properties of the polymer-modified mortars using methyl methacrylate-butyl acrylate(MMA/BA) and methyl methacrylate-ethyl acrylate(MMA/EA) latexes. The results of this study are as follows, the water absorption, chloride ion penetration depth and carbonation depth of MMA/BA-modified mortar are lowest. However, they are greatly affected by the polymer-cement ratio rather than the bound MMA content and type of polymer.
Entering the 20th century since the industrial revolution, the cement has been widely used in the field of construction and civil engineering due to the remarkable development of construction industry. However, result from that development, each kind of industrial by-products and waste and the carbon dioxide generated in the process of cement production cause air pollution and environmental damage so earth is getting sick now slowly. Therefore, we have to recognize importance about this. It means that the time taking specific and long-term measures have come. In this research paper, as substitution of the cement generating environmental pollution, we investigate the hydration reaction of non-Sintered Cement mortar mixed with GBFS, active stimulant of alkaline and sulphate series by using SEM and XRD, mechanical and chemical properties according to the curing method. As a result of this experiment, NSC realized outstanding strength for water curing and steam curing. It means that it has a good possibility as substitution of cement. From now on, it can be used for structure satisfying specific standard. We expect to find a substitution of outstanding cement by progressing continuous research making the best use of pros and cons according to the curing method.
This paper presents an investigation of the mechanical and microstructural properties on hardened samples that were synthesized using blended binder(fly ash(FA) and blast furnace slag cement(BFSC)), alkali activator and sea water or distilled water. Binders were prepared by mixing the FA and BFSC in different blend weight ratios of 6:4, 7:3 and 8:2. Sodium hydroxide and sodium silicate were used 5 wt% of binder, respectively, as an alkaline activator. The compressive strength and absorption were measured at the age of 3, 7 and 28 days, and the XRD, TGA and MIP tests were performed at the age of 28 days. An increase in the content of BFSC leads to an increase in the quantities of ettringite and C-S-H formed, regardless of the type of mixing water. And it also shows higher strength due to the reduction of pores larger than ~50 nm. All hardened samples in this study have common hydration products of C-S-H, $Ca(OH)_2$ and calcite. Hydrocalumite of all reaction products formed was only present in hardened sample mixed with sea water. For each FA/BFSC mixing ratio, the compressive strength of hardened sample mixed with sea water was similar to that mixed with distilled water. It is proposed that the slight increase of strength of samples mixed with sea water is mainly due to the presence of hydrocalumite phase containing chlorine ion, contributing to the change of total porosity and pore size distribution in samples.
In order to know the physicochemical properties of magnetized water, the experimental methods of column assay, crystalization of saltsand gypsom have been explored to elucidate the effects of magnetized water on the solubility speed of salts, crystal pattern from salt squeous solutions, and gypsom crystal pattern, respectively. In the column assay for salt solubility the magnetized water showed the decreased initial solubility speed of NaCl and slightly increased initial solubility spped of KCI, however, the maximum solugilities of NaCl and KCI in the magnetized aster were almost same in the double distilled water, respectively. The column assay also indicated that the magnetized water showed the decreased initial solubility speed of urea (CH$_4$N$_2$O), sodium citrate (HOC(CO$_2$Na)-(CH$_2$CO$_2$Na)$_2$-2H$_2$O) and (NH$_4$)$_2$compared to the double distilled water, while slightly increased solubility speed of glycine (NH$_2$CH$_2$COOH), boric acid (H$_3$BO$_3$), MgSO$_4$. Crystalization of 1% or 5% salt aqueous solutions by rapid evaporation disclosed that the magnetized water produced more condensed and bigger crystal structure than the control water. The pattern of gypsom crystal formation also indicated that the magntized water enhanced the crystal formation in the hydration reaction of gypsom plaster compared to the double distilled water. Taken together, it was presumed that the magnetized water showed the different physicochemical properties in the interaction with various salts, especially showed the contrast results between NaCl and KCI.
