ELECTRON MICROSCOPIC STUDY OF RESIN-DENTIN HYBRID ZONE PRODUCED BY THE MOISTENING OF ACID CONDITIONED DENTIN SURFACE (산 표면처리 후 상아질 표면의 습윤이 하이브리드층 형성에 관한 전자현미경적 연구)

  • The effect of moistening and air-drying of acid-conditioned dentin before priming on the formation of resin-dentin hybrid zone was investigated, Freshly extracted human molars were used and divided at random into 5 groups, Groups 1 - 3 consisted of specimens conditioned with 10 % phosphoric acid for 20 seconds; Group 1 served as a control in which the conditioned dentin was simply blot-dried with a damp facial tissue; Group 2 was air dried for 30 seconds ; Group 3 was air dried for 30 seconds and immediately remoistened for 10 seconds with air-water syringe. and then the specimen was blot-dried with a damp facial tissue. Groups 4-5 were not acid conditioned ; In group 4, the smear layer on the dentin was blot dried before primer placement; Group 5 was air dried only for 30 seconds, The acetone-based primer and bonding agent of All Bond 2 (Bisco. Inc., USA) and composite resin (Z-100, 3M Dental products, USA) were applied for acid conditioned dentin and non-conditioned dentin. The morphologic ultrastructure of resin-dentin hybrid zone was examined by the use of SEM and TEM. and the existence of inorganic material and analysis of Ca/P weight-percent ratio in the resin-dentin hybrid zone were revealed by the EDAX, The results were as follows : 1. In the moistened specimens from acid-conditioned groups, the resin penetrated about 3-$4{\mu}m$ into dentin and the denatured collagen smear layer was not present at the surface. The resin tag was formed to a thickeness of 3-$4{\mu}m$ at the upper part of dentinal tubule and compactively connected to each other by means of many lateral branching. 2. In the air-dried specimens from acid-conditioned groups, the resin penetrated about 2.0-$2.5\;{\mu}m$ into dentin and an upper thin black layer to a thickness of 30-35nm was identified between adhesive resin and demineralized collagen layer. The resin tag to have a diameter of $2.5{\mu}m$ was formed at the upper part of dentinal tubule. However the funnel shape of the tag was not notable compared to the moistened specimens. 3. In the remoistened specimens from acid conditioned groups, the resin penetrated about 2.0-$2.5{\mu}m$ into dentin and an upper black layer was not present. The resin tag at the upper part of dentinal tubule was formed less than $2{\mu}m$ and was weakly connected to each other by means of few lateral branching. 4. In the non-conditioned groups, the smear layer was formed to a thickness of $0.5{\mu}m$ at dentin surface. However, the resin-dentin hybrid zone was not identified by TEM. The evidence of resin penetration into intertubular and intratubular dentin did not show. 5. All the acid-conditioned groups showed that the detected calcium and phosphorus weight percent ratios at the $2{\mu}m$ upper portion from the resin-dentin interface into the resin were much higher than that at the $2{\mu}m$ lower portion from the resin-dentin interface to dentin. The Effects of Welding Wires on the Weldabilities of API X-100 with Laser-Arc Hybrid Welidng (API X-100의 레이저-아크 하이브리드 용접성에 미치는 용접와이어의 영향)

  • In this study, API-X100 steel pipes were welded with various kinds of welding wires in the laser-arc hybrid welding process. 10kW fiber laser source was combined to MIG arc welding process. API X-100 steel of base metal was of 16.9mm thickness, and butt welding applied. After welding, full penetration weld was acquired by 1-pass welding. A root porosity and the lack of fusion was observed in some welding conditions. By the mixing the melted wire, acicular ferrite, polygonal ferrite, pro-eutectoid, aligned side plate, and bainite structures were observed at the weld metal. From the observation of hybrid weld, unmixed zone had more Ni and Cr. The unmixed zone was a 1/3 area of the weld metal. As the mechanical test of the hybrid welding, tensile test and impact test applied. From the tensile test, all of the welding except SM70S was fractured at the base metal. The result of the impact test at -30 degree C led 60J~320J of the absorbed energy. The result of the low-absorbed energy might be from the coarse equiaxed structures of the weld metal.

A TEM STUDY OF THE RESIN-DENTIN INTERDIFFUSION ZONE FORMED BY ONE-BOTTLE DENTIN ADHESIVE SYSTEMS (단일용기 상아질 접착제 처리 후 레진-상아질 경계면에 대한 투과전자현미경적 연구)

  • One bottle system was recently developed in order to simplify the clinical skills and save chair time after continuous improvements on dentin bonding agents. There has been many studies to measure the bond strength of one bottle systems but no actual work has been done on micromorphologic study of resin-dentin interdiffusion zone after one bottle system application. To evaluate the bonding patterns of various commercially available one bottle systems to dentin, observation of resin-dentin interdiffusion zone under TEM was performed. Caries-free human third molars within one month of extractions were chosen for the experiments. The molars were sectioned 1mm above the cementoenamel junction and got rid of the root portions. Crown portions of the teeth were sectioned parallel to occlusal surface so that dentin discs of 1mm in thickness were remained. 7 one bottle systems and 1 two bottle system were applied according to manufacturer's instructions and followings were the results. 1. In every experimental groups, cross bandings of collagen fiber were distinguishable and tight bon dings between the bonding agents and dentin were observed. 2. Hybrid layer was clearly observed in ONE-STEP$^{(R)}$, Prime & Bond$^{(R)}$ 2.1, Syntac$^{(R)}$ SC, MAC-BOND II groups but it was not clear in Single Bond, D-Liner Dual PLUS, ONE COAT BOND groups. 3. Electron-density of hybrid layer was uniform in pattern in MAC-BOND II, Prime & Bond$^{(R)}$ 2.1 groups but not so uniform in ONE-STEP$^{(R)}$ group. 4. Electron-dense amorphous phase in most superior layer of the resin-dentin interdiffusion zone was characteristically observed in Single Bond, Syntac$^{(R)}$ SC, ONE COAT BOND groups. It can be concluded that bondings between the dentin bonding agents and dentin can be various in pattern according to their chemical compositions and the condition during applications.

  • Dynamometer is a device for testing the performance of the brake and it is composed of a test zone, the mechanical inertia zone, the electric motor and the control zone. Hybrid dynamometer is a way to compensate for the loss of mechanical inertia in accordance with the brake operation by using an electric motor to reduce the size of the mechanical inertia with the advantage that can be tested in the relatively small size of the mechanical inertia and low cost. In this paper, design the proper size of hybrid dynamometer in the laboratory level with the space constraints, analysed the effect of critical parameter on the braking performance of hybrid dynamometer such as changing the friction coefficient. With this study, could get the results of guideline to judge the poor friction material by measuring the torque of the electric motor to compensate the energy loss due to a reduced mechanical inertia.

Performance Characterization of Tachyon Supercomputer using Hybrid Multi-zone NAS Parallel Benchmarks (하이브리드 병렬 프로그램을 이용한 타키온 슈퍼컴퓨터의 성능)

  • Tachyon primary system which introduces recently is a high performance supercomputer that composed with AMD Barcelona nodes. In this paper, we will verify the performance and parallel scalability of TachyonIn by using multi-zone NAS Parallel Benchmark(NPB) which is one of a program with hybrid parallel method. To test performance of hybrid parallel execution, B and C classes of BT-MZ in NPB version 3.3 were used. And the parallel scalability test has finished with Tachyon's 1024 processes. It is the first time in Korea to get a result of hybrid parallel computing calculation using more than 1024 processes. Hybrid parallel method in high performance computing system with multi-core technology like Tachyon describes that it can be very efficient and useful parallel performance benchmarks.

  • This paper concerns the flexural behavior of hybrid steel fiber-reinforced ultra high performance concrete (UHPC) beams. It presents experimental research results of hybrid steel fiber-reinforced UHPC with steel fiber content of 1.5% by volume and steel reinforcement ratio of less than 0.02. This study aims at providing realistic information about UHPC beams in bending in order to establish a reasonable prediction model for flexural resistance in structural code in the future. The experimental results show that hybrid steel fiber-reinforced UHPC is in favor of cracking resistance and ductility of beams. The ductility indices range through 9.2 to 15.2, which means high ductility of UHPC. Also, the flexural capacity of beam which contains stirrups in pure bending zone is similar to that of beam which does not contain stirrups in pure bending zone. This result represents that the flexural capacity is not affected by the presence of stirrups whose spacing is 150 mm in bending zone.

Design and Characteristics Analysis of a Novel Single-phase Hybrid SRM for Blender Application

  • In this paper, the design and characteristic analysis of a novel single-phase hybrid switched reluctance motor (HSRM) for the purpose of replacing the universal motor in commercial blenders are presented. The proposed motor is easy to manufacture due to its simple yet robust structure with minimized power switches and no torque dead-zone. Moreover, the proposed HSRM is able to deliver a high starting torque as a requirement for blending hard food or even ice. The stator has permanent magnets (PMs) mounted on its inner surface and the rotor has a wide pole arc and salient poles that contribute to its high starting torque profile and the elimination of the torque dead-zone. Finite element method (FEM) is used to analyze the characteristic of the proposed motor. Finally, the prototype is manufactured and its performance is verified through experiments.

An Analytical Study on the Optimal Set-point of the Hybrid Plant (복합열원설비 운전온도 최적 설정에 관한 해석적 연구)

  • The objective of this study is to find the optimal set-point of a hybrid Plant, which is combined by renewable energy plant of the GSHP(Ground Source Heat Pump) and the conventional plant(chiller, boiler). The work presented in this study was carried out by using the EnergyPlus(Version 2.0). In order to validate the simulation model, field data were measured from a building. The GSHP was used as a base plant and the conventional plant as the assistant plant. Various temperatures were controlled (zone summer set-point, zone winter set-point, chilled water temperature, hot water temperature) to find the optimal set-point temperature of the system. The influence of the various set-points were analyzed seasonally.

IDs Assignment of Hybrid Method for Efficient and Secure USN (Ubiquitous Sensor Networks) (효율적인 안전한 유비쿼터스 센서 네트워크를 위한 하이브리드 방식의 아이디 할당)

  • Due to the differences between a mobile ad-hoc network and a sensor network, the pre-existing autoconfiguration for a mobile ad-hoc network cannot be simply applied to a sensor network. But. a mechanism is still necessary to assign locally unique addresses to sensor nodes efficiently. This paper proposes a hybrid IDs assignment scheme of local area sensor networks. The IDs assignment scheme of hybrid method combines a proactive IDs assignment with a reactive IDs assignment scheme. The proposed scheme considers efficient communication using reactive IDs assignment, and security for potential attacks using zone-based self-organized clustering with Byzantine Agreement in sensor networks. Thus, this paper has solved the shortage of security due to minimizing network traffic and the problem of repairing the network from the effects of an aberrant node in sensor networks.
