  • A battery is the primary energy source device presently used in hybrid electric vehicle. It can store much energy, but cannot provide enough current without inefficient units. However, an ultracapcitor can provide much current, but cannot store much energy. It will have better fuel economy by combining the two energy sources in parallel. The purpose of this paper is making the simulator of the two HEV systems. The one has only battery, the other have battery and ultarcapacitor in parallel. To compare the fuel economy, dynamic programing was used for optimization and prius was used for HEV model.

  • Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) which has been well known to solve continuous problems can be applied to discrete combinatorial problems. Several DPSO (Discrete Particle Swarm Optimization) algorithms have been proposed to solve discrete problems such as traveling salesman, vehicle routing, and flow shop scheduling problems. They are different in representation of position and velocity vectors, operation mechanisms for updating vectors. In this paper, the performance of 5 DPSOs is analyzed by applying to traditional Traveling Salesman Problems. The experiment shows that DPSOs are comparable or superior to a genetic algorithm (GA). Also, hybrid PSO combined with local optimization (i.e., 2-OPT) provides much improved solutions. Since DPSO requires more computation time compared with GA, however, the performance of hybrid DPSO is not better than hybrid GA.

  • This paper deals with the design on iron-core shape for superconducting hybrid electromagnet (SH-EM). A proto-type SH-EM was developed by Yonsei University. It is the first step study on the fundamental technology for advanced railroad system development. We proposed the method that reduce the number of cooling systems in order to improve operating efficiency of the SH-EM. The results was obtained by changing of iron-core shape were verified by the FEM analysis. This paper can be expected to suggest useful data for an advanced SH-EM.

  • In this paper, we propose to research the possibility of using a photovoltaic system and supercapacitor combined with a high speed microturbine. This hybrid energy system work as atand-alone mode or grid-connected mode as it will be a part of building micro-grid. Simple dynamic models of photovoltaic, microturbine systems and supercapacitor banks are proposed. their models are developed by Matlab/Simulink tool. Two important results are carried out to find power control effectiveness in case of with supercapacitor bank and without one. At least, simulation results show the effectiveness on the power control at AC busbar of hybrid energy system as building micro-grid system.

  • This paper presents a basic energy performance data of micro gas turbine, Renewable Energy(BIPV and Solar Collector System, geothermal system) and a hybrid energy system(geothermal system and microturbine) installed in Hospital Building. The efficiency of solar collector and BIPV system was 30%, 10% individually, and lower than micro gas turbines. Micro gas turbines are small gas turbines that bum gaseous and liquid fuels to produce a high-energy exhaust gas and to generate the electrical power. Recently, the size range for micro gas turbines is form 30 to 500kW and power-only generation or in combined heat and power(CHP) systems. Finally, in energy performance aspect, Micro gas turbine system and hybrid energy system were high-efficiency system in hospital building. Hybrid energy system also give us a powerful alternative energy system economically.

  • A hybrid artificial intelligence approach based on combining case based reasoning and neural networks is presented. The approach is designed to allow for solving blowing control of BOF(basic oxygen furnace), example of which lie at the core of steelmaking process control systems application in the steel industry. According to this hybrid approach, the system, when faced with a new problem, first retrieves similar cases and neural network is used to solve the problem. Experimental Results indicate that combining case based reasoning and neural network offers an efficient approach to solving control and prediction problem

  • The solar cells and fuel cells power are being encouraged to reduce the environmental pollution and combat the global warming. And the electric generation hybrid system is usually more reliable and less costly than the systems that use a single source of energy. HOMER provides a platform to design and simulate the power system and then to choose the optimization results. Based on the electricity demand conditions during a year, this paper simulates with the HOMER and performs the monthly average electrical production and the most feasible economical case includes the net present costs and the annualized costs of the hybrid system components.

  • This paper proposes a new Hybrid Particle Swarm Optimization (HPSO) method that integrates the Evolutionary Programming (EP) and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) techniques. The proposed method is applied to solve Economic Dispatch(ED) problems considering prohibited operating zones, ramp rate limits, capacity limits and power balance constraints. In the proposed HPSO method, the best features of both EP and PSO are exploited, and it is capable of finding the most optimal solution for the non-linear optimization problems. For validating the proposed method, it has been tested on the standard three, six, fifteen and twenty unit test systems. The numerical results show that the proposed HPSO method is well suitable for solving non-linear economic dispatch problems, and it outperforms the EP, PSO and other modern metaheuristic optimization methods reported in the recent literatures.

  • Many firms are trying to optimize their production and distribution functions separately, but possible savings by this approach may be limited. Nowadays, it is more important to analyze these two functions simultaneously by trading off the costs associated with the whole. In this paper, I treat a production and distribution planning problem for single-period inventory products comprised of a single production facility and multiple customers, with the aim of optimally coordinating important and interrelated decisions of production sequencing and vehicle routing. Then, I propose a hybrid genetic algorithm incorporating several local optimization techniques, HGAP, for integrated production-distribution planning. Computational results on test problems show that HGAP is effective and generates substantial cost savings over Hurter and Buer's decoupled planning approach in which vehicle routing is first developed and a production sequence is consequently derived. Especially, HGAP performs better on the problems where customers are dispersed with multi-item demand than on the problems where customers are divided into several zones based on single-item demand.

  • The new engineering challenges lead to a control of a vehicle more and more complex. To tackle this issue, Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) simulation is used in the development of real-time embedded systems. In this paper, the control of a double parallel hybrid vehicle is validated using a reduced power HIL simulation. A graphical description is used in order to organize the emulation and control. Some experimental results of a versatile testbed are given for the Peugeot $3{\infty}8$ HYbrid4.
