  • This study is concerned with the identification of fuzzy models. To address the optimization of fuzzy model, we proposed an improved space search evolutionary algorithm (ISSA) which is realized with the combination of space search algorithm and Gaussian mutation. The proposed ISSA is exploited here as the optimization vehicle for the design of fuzzy models. Considering the design of fuzzy models, we developed a hybrid identification method using information granulation and the ISSA. Information granules are treated as collections of objects (e.g. data) brought together by the criteria of proximity, similarity, or functionality. The overall hybrid identification comes in the form of two optimization mechanisms: structure identification and parameter identification. The structure identification is supported by the ISSA and C-Means while the parameter estimation is realized via the ISSA and weighted least square error method. A suite of comparative studies show that the proposed model leads to better performance in comparison with some existing models.

  • This paper presents a new adaptive converter control approach for electric motor systems whose voltage source is excited from photovoltaic (PV) power generators. First, an electric model is represented with dynamic states and output velocity of such DC motor systems. We propose a hybrid converter control law in which a state feedback control is applied as an auxiliary control framework. Moreover, control parameter estimation is derived to realize adaptive converter systems for effective control performance against stochastic PV power excitation in practice. We carry out stability analysis for such converter system by using a well-known eigenvalue theory. Lastly, numerical simulation is conducted to test reliability of the proposed converter control approach and prove its superiority in the control point of view.

  • This paper is a study on the bi-directional DC-DC converter, one of the key elements of 48V-12V dual systems in mild hybrid electric vehicles. Mild hybrid electric vehicles require a bi-directional DC-DC converter that can efficiently transmit power in two directions between a 48V battery and a 12V battery. To develop a bi-directional DC-DC converter with better price competitiveness, upgraded fuel economy, excellent performance and smaller size, this study designed, produced and presented a circuit that improved on the existing one. In the proposed 8-phase bi-directional DC-DC converter, the size of the passive element was reduced through the 8-phase interleaved topology, whereas downscaling had previously posed a difficulty. This study also designed and produced a 2.5kW class prototype. Based on the proposed 8-phase interleaved topology, a size of 227.5 (W) * 172 (L) * 64.35 (H) was achieved. In the boost mode operation and buck operation modes, the maximum efficiency was recorded at 94.04 % and 95.78 %, respectively.

Also, the rapid development of related technologies has been a big spotlight. Smart phone, with features such as a PC with advanced features is a mobile phone. According to environment and infrastructure development, a variety of mobile-based application software to provide various kinds of information and services has been released. However, most of them are provider-driven information systems and aim to provide large amounts of information simply to an unspecified number of users. Therefore, customized or personalized provision of information and service explained earlier for individual users has been hardly come true. According to background and need, this study wants to design and implement recommendations system for personalization and customization in mobile environments. To acquire more accurate recommendation results, recommendation system shall be composed using the Hybrid Filtering. Effective information recommendation according to user's situation by using user's context-information of purpose and location that are available in mobile devices before running the filtering of the information to improve the quality of recommendations.

  • Thermally or electrically conductive filler reinforced polymer composites are extensively being developed as the demand for light weight material increases rapidly in industiral applications need good conductivity such as heat sink of the electronics or light. Carbon or ceramic materials like graphite, carbon nanotube or boron nitride are typical conductive fillers with good thermal or electical conductivity. Using these conductive fillers, the polymer composites in the market show wide range of thermal conductivity from approximately 1 W/mK to 20 W/mK, which is quite enhanced considering the thermal conductivity lower than 0.5 W/mK for most polymeric materials. The practical use of these composites, however, is yet limited to specific applications because most composites are still not conductive enough or too difficult to process, too brittle, too expensive for higher conductivity. For practical use of conductive composite, the thermal conductivity required depending on the heat releasing mode are studied first for simplified unit cooling geometry to propose thermal conductivities of the composites for reasonable cooling performance comparing with the metal heat sink as a reference. Also, as a practical design for heat sink based on polymer composite, composite and metal sheet hybrid structures are investigated for LED lamp heat sink and audio amplication module housing to find that this hybrid structure can be a good solution considering all of the cooling performance, manufacturing, mechanical performance, cost and weight.

  • Initial alignment and localization are important topics in inertial navigation systems, since misalignment and initial position error wholly propagate into the navigation systems and deteriorate the performance of the systems. This paper presents the error convergence characteristics of the hybrid navigation system for underwater vehicles initial position, which is based on an inertial measurement unit (IMU) accompanying a range sensor. This paper demonstrates the improvement on the navigational performance oj the hybrid system with the range information, especially focused on the convergence of the estimation of underwater vehicles initial position error. Simulations are performed with experimental data obtained from a rotating ann test with a fish model. The convergence speed and condition of the initial error removal for random initial position errors are examined with Monte Carlo simulation. In addition, numerical simulation is conducted with an AUV model in lawn-mowing survey mode to illustrate the error convergence of the hybrid navigation System for initial position error.

  • Since conventional massive antenna systems require too many RF chains, they have disadvantages of high implementation cost and complexity. To overcome this problem, hybrid precoding schemes have been proposed. But, they are still of high implementation cost and complexity because RF chains are connected to all antenna elements. In this paper, we consider massive MIMO systems with overlapped sub-array (OSA) structure and then, propose a hybrid precoding scheme. In the overlapped subarray structure, RF analog precoding matrix has a sparse structure where many elements of RF analog precoding matrix are zeros. Using this sparse property, we propose a GTP-based precoder design method for RF and baseband digital precoding. Through simulation, we show that the proposed scheme has more than 85% of the spectral efficiency of the fully-connected structure while having 20~30% of complexity of it.

  • In this paper, a multi-channel active noise control(ANC) system using subband hybrid control techniques is proposed. Subband techniques could reduce computational burden and improve the performance of ANC systems by dividing several frequency subband and adjusting adaptive filter coefficients. So it can effectively cancel noises at wanted frequency range and use lower order adaptive filter than the existing algorithms. The adjoint LMS algorithm, which prefilter the error signals instead of the divided reference signals in frequency band, is also used for adaptive filter algorithms to reduce the computational burden of the subband adaptive systems. To improve performance of the ANC system, a weighted hybrid control technique, which has weightily properties of feedforward control systems and feedback control systems, is applied. This algorithm shows higher stability and good noise attenuation property in broad band ANC systems. Computer simulations were performed to show the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

  • It is complicate to analysis the systems, dual mode hybrid systems, because they are composed of many planetary gear sets. For the performance test, it needs to define the systems with representative parameters. In this paper, system parameters, $\alpha$, $\beta$, $\zeta$, are introduced to define the systems, and an arbitrary system like E-IVT developed by Renault Motors is converted to the general system having equivalent parameters, such as $\beta'$, $R'_b$. Pontryagin principle and Kuhn-Tucker condition method are applied to solve the constrained problems, by which the methodology for accelerating test is generalized, and the results of the simulation are reported. In addition, the effects of alternative strategies are mentioned. The method of fuel economy test at engine mode is also introduced. The results of test at engine mode is different from the results of optimal trajectory, but the fuel economy of the engine mode is related to the highway driving and optimized operating of the system.

  • Heterogeneous physical systems and computational devices are incorporated on a large-scale in a CPS (cyber-physical system) environment. Simulations can be useful for the reliable behaviors of CPSs. Time synchronization is one of major technical issues for the simulations. In the CPS, distributed systems control themselves by interacting with each other during runtime. When some simulation models have high complexity, wrong control commands as well as incorrect data can be exchanged due to the time error. We propose a time synchronization algorithm for the hybrid model that has characteristics of both continuous time systems and discrete event systems. In addition, we develop a CPS simulator based on our algorithm. For the verification of the algorithm and the execution of the simulator, we develop an example hybrid model and simulate considering user controls as well as interactions among the distributed systems.
