Some Characteristics of Interspecific and Intergeneric Hybrids in Herbage Grasses (禾本科 牧草의 種屬間雜種 Hybrid ryegrass와 Festulolium의 生育特性)

  • Even though grass species are one of major importance in livestock industry, the response of intergeneric hybridization of Lolium and Festuca and interspecific hybridization of Lolium m.X Lolium p. to Korean climatic condition has not been adequately documented. This reasearch was conducted to examine the growth characteristics and dry matter yield of Festulolium, cv. Felopa and C-Stamm N 66 and hybrid ryegrass, cv. Maja and Tetilelite. 1. The early growth of Italian ryegrass was better than that of hybrid ryegrass and Festulolium. The plant length and height of Italian ryegrass were longer/taller than those of hybrid ryegrass and Festulolium, but the number of tillers of Italian ryegrass was less than that of hybrid ryegrass and Festulolium. 2. Festuloliu and hybrid ryegrass were more tolerant than Italian ryegrass to winter killing, 70-80% of tillers was survived. 3. After wintering, early spring growth of hybrid ryegrass and Festulolium were better than that of Italian ryegrass. Dry matter yield of hybrid ryegrass and Festulolium were more than that of Italian ryegrass. 4. Spikes of hybrid ryegrass and Festulolium (C-Stamm N66) were more than those of Italian ryegrass. Seed yield per $m^2$ of hybrid ryegrass and Italian ryegrass were almost same, but that of Festuloliu was lower.

  • This paper presents a new hybrid serial-parallel robot(HSPR), which has six degrees of freedom driven by ball screw linear actuators and motored joints. This hybrid robot design presents a compromise between high rigidity of fully parallel manipulators and extended workspace of serial manipulators. The hybrid robot has a large, singularity-free workspace and high stiffness. Therefore, the presented kinematic structure of the hybrid robot is particularly suitable for multi-tasking machining processes such as milling, drilling, deburring and grinding. In addition to the machining processes, the hybrid robot can be used for welding, fixturing, material handling and so on. The study on design of the hybrid robot is performed. A kinematic analysis and mechanism description of the hybrid robot with six-controlled degree of freedom is presented. In the virtual design works by DADS, workspace and force analysis are discussed. A numerical model is treated to demonstrate our analysis and to determine the range of permissible extension of the struts. Also, we determine some important design parameters for the hybrid robot.

Coating Property of Hybrid Structured Photo-Electrode to Increase Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells Efficiency (염료감응형 태양전지의 효율 향상을 위한 하이브리드 구조 광전극의 코팅특성)

  • The hybrid structured photo-electrode for dye-sensitized solar cells was fabricated based on the composites of $TiO_2$ nanoparticles and nanowires. Three samples with different hybrid structures were prepared with 17 vol%, 43 vol%, and 100 vol% nanowires. The energy conversion efficiency was enhanced from 5.54% for pure nanoparticle cells to 6.01% for the hybrid structure with 17 vol% nanowires. For the hybrid structured layers with high nanowires concentration (43 vol% and 100 vol%), the efficiency decreased with the nanowire concentration, because of the decrease of specific surface area, and of thus decreased current density. The random orientations of $TiO_2$ nanowires can be preserved by the doctor blade process, resulted in the enhanced efficiency. The hybrid structured $TiO_2$ layer can possess the advantages of the high surface area of nanoparticles and the rapid electron transport rate and the light scattering effect of nanowires.

  • The simple PSK signal generation method using a quadrature hybrid coupler and reflection coefficient elements was analyzed in this paper. The PSK modulation signal with a constant constellation is generated by reflection coefficient from 90o hybrid coupler output ports, the high-mode PSK signal is also generated by the hybrid structure of coupler, delay line and power combiner. The BPSK signal is simply generated by a 90o hybrid coupler and reflection elements, and QPSK with 90o phase constellation is generated by additional delay line and power combiner. By simulation results, the generated PSK signals by the proposed circuit get good modulation spectra within 3o phase error.

Ontogenetic Behavior and Phototactic Properties of Interspecific Hybrid Prolarvae Produced by Crossing Female Siberian Sturgeon Acipenser baerii and Male Russian Sturgeon Acipenser gueldenstaedtii (시베리아 철갑상어(Acipenser baerii) 암컷과 러시아 철갑상어(Acipenser gueldenstaedtii) 수컷간 유도된 잡종 자어의 행동 발달 및 주광성 특징)

  • Female Siberian sturgeon Acipenser baerii were crossed with male Russian sturgeon A. gueldenstaedtii and the development, ontogenetic behavior, and phototactic characteristics of the resultant hybrid prolarvae were examined. The fertilization rate of the hybrid group was similar to that of Siberian sturgeon (the maternal species), and the overall developmental characteristics of hybrid embryos were not significantly different from those of either parental species. The time window from first hatch to the completion of hatching was wider in Russian sturgeon than in Siberian and hybrid sturgeon groups. The prolarval viability of the hybrid group was similar to that of the maternal species, and significantly higher than that of the paternal species. Hybrid prolarvae displayed ontogenetic behavioral patterns that were quite similar to those of Siberian sturgeon. In an illumination preference test, hybrid prolarvae displayed significant positive phototaxis, similar to the maternal species, and clearly distinct from the negative phototactic character of the paternal species. Taken together, our data indicate that the prolarval traits of hybrid sturgeon from this cross more closely resemble those of the maternal than the paternal species.

De-novo Hybrid Protein Design for Biodegradation of Organophosphate Pesticides

  • In the present investigation, we attempted to design a protocol to develop a hybrid protein with better bioremediation capacity. Using in silico approaches, a Hybrid Open Reading Frame (Hybrid ORF) is developed targeting the genes of microorganisms known for degradation of organophosphates. Out of 21 genes identified through BLAST search, 8 structurally similar genes (opdA, opd, opaA, pte RO, pdeA, parC, mpd and phnE) involved in biodegradation were screened. Gene conservational analysis categorizes these organophosphates degrading 8 genes into 4 super families i.e., Metallo-dependent hydrolases, Lactamase B, MPP and TM_PBP2 superfamily. Hybrid protein structure was modeled using multi-template homology modeling (3S07_A; 99%, 1P9E_A; 98%, 2ZO9_B; 33%, 2DXL_A; 33%) by $Schr{\ddot{o}}dinger$ software suit version 10.4.018. Structural verification of protein models was done using Ramachandran plot, it was showing 96.0% residue in the favored region, which was verified using RAMPAGE. The phosphotriesterase protein was showing the highest structural similarity with hybrid protein having raw score 984. The 5 binding sites of hybrid protein were identified through binding site prediction. The docking study shows that hybrid protein potentially interacts with 10 different organophosphates. The study results indicate that the hybrid protein designed has the capability of degrading a wide range of organophosphate compounds.

Hybrid Modeling and Control for Platoon Maneuvers in Automated Highway Systems (군집주행 기동을 위한 하이브리드 모델링 및 제어기 설계)

  • An objective of Automated Highway Systems (AHS) is to increase the safety and throughput of the existing highway infrastructure by introducing traffic automation. AHS is an example of a large scale, multiagent complex dynamical system and is ideally suited for a hierarchical hybrid controller. We discuss a design issue of efficient hybrid controllers for the platoon maneuvers on AHS. For the modeling of a hybrid system including the merge and split operations, a safety distance policy is introduced for the merge and split operations. After that, the platoon system will be modeled by a hybrid system In addition, a hybrid controller for the proposed merge and split operation models is presented. Finally, the performance of the proposed hybrid control scheme is demonstrated via scenarios for platoon maneuvers.

  • In this paper, broadband balanced amplifier has been realized with Three-Arm Branch $90^{\circ}$ Hybrid Coupler at center frequency 2GHz. $90^{\circ}$ Hybrid Branch-Line Coupler has been compared with Three-Arm Branch $90^{\circ}$ Hybrid Coupler. The bandwidth VSWR and gain or proposed amplifier have been 480MHz, 1.06 and 15.47dB, respectively.
