We have developed several three-dimensional display systems matched to human visual field characteristics. In this article, we describe these systems corresponding to a close-range, mid-distance and distance view, and also the image pickup equipments related to these display systems.
The general aim of this article is to explicate what can be researched in our field based on the new understanding on the ability of human visual intelligence. To follow this aim, three key discussions were followed. The first is to explain why the human visual intelligence research is so important in our field and how it was neglected. The basic orientations of the research questions used in its framing and in answering are reviewed. After reviewing traditional research orientations, as the second discussion, alternative, more useful perspective for thinking about human visual intelligence is suggested. And the possibility of contribution for the future research in general is discussed. In doing so, human visual intelligence was defined in rather practically oriented ways rather than theoretically oriented ones. More practical perspectives were suggested. The third discussion is to show how to use the alternative perspectives of human visual intelligence in the areas of educational technology research. It was hoped that the article lays out conceptual groundwork for generation of educational technology research frameworks which can be used for the research conduct, reproduction and sharing by adopting practically oriented views on human visual intelligence as a new territory of educational technology research.

Due to the inconsiderateness of human capability and inappropriate arrangement of display and control unit at the industrial site, the human error leads to a various accidents. This study was performed to investigate the visual range at the eye field and stationary field at the various angles with three different visual stimuli of alphabetic character, color slip and light-emitting diode. Three kinds of various alphabetic characters depending on length and breadth ratio (1:1, 3:5, 5:3) and three different colors (red, yellow, green) were used for the stimuli. Twenty-five subjects (11 males and 14 females) participated for this study. The results showed that female had wider visual range than male at the eye field, however no significant difference was found at the stationary field. The light-emitting diode had a widest visual range then color slip and characters are in order at the eye field and stationary field. For the character stimulus, the widest visual range was shown at length and breadth ratio of 1:1. The other ratios (3:5 and 5:3) showed no significant difference. The color of red had a widest visual range on the light-emitting diode, however, the color of yellow showed a widest visual range on the just color slip at the eye field. The result of this study would be valuable in applying to the design of visual display and the panel layout of control and displays in the industrial site.
Human exists in environment. As environment affects in human movement, human reacts to everything happens in environment especially by the view point of visual continuity and changeability. This study has two purposes. The one is to clarify the visual changeability due to the Human movement from the visual point based on checking the visual field. And the other is to understand the applicable possibility of Philip Thiel's method through the experiment in passing ways. Condition of this study is that colors and figures are affective elements of visual environmental sequence by the Human movement. The Human movement is due to the visual phenomenon. That means it is not limited in Philip Theil's method(Node, District). In particular, the chroma which is checked by the BPA(Basic-Pattern-Area) is the most affective visual environmental element in contemporary shopping mall. Also, everything in visual environment and the movement is connected by the time axis. As an analytical method, the sequence notation devised by Philip Thiel was applied.

This study aims to develop three types of the visual fields: stationary field, eye field, and head field, which are classified depending upon the eye and head movements. A visual experiment taking target size, target color, and meridian into account was conducted, in which the L32 orthogonal array was employed. The results showed that target size and meridian were significant at ${\alpha}$=0.01 in all three visual fields. Contrary to expectation, target color was significant at ${\alpha}$=0.10 only in the head field. Furthermore, the differences in size of the head field depending upon four target colors were negligibly small. Three linear regression models were provided to generate visual fields which are appropriate for given visual task's characteristics. In addition, a simple method using adjusting factor was also proposed so that anyone without knowledge for human factors/ergonomics can easily generate and use them when designing or evaluating visual tasks. It is expected that the visual fields presented in this study can be easily used even by non-ergonomic experts in real situations due to their simplicity.

Visual search in an unstructured search field is a fruitful research area for computational modeling. Search models that describe relationship between search time and probability of target detection have been used for prediction of human search performance and provision of ideal goals for search training. Until recently, however, most of models were focused on detecting a single target in a search field, although, in practice, a search field includes multiple targets and search models for multiple targets may differ from search models for a single target. This study proposed a random search model for multiple targets, generalizing a random search model for a single target which is the most typical search model. To test this model, human search data were collected and compared with the model. This model well predicted human performance in visual search for multiple targets. This paper also proposed how to determine optimal stopping time in multiple-target search.
In this paper, we propose a new image quality assessment scheme considering the human visual perception characteristics. A subjective quality assessment is obtained by the response of the receptive field in the primary visual cortex and a human's eye can't focus on all of the visual range in a moment. Take advantage of two facts above, we apply Gabor wavelet transform, which is well fit the receptive field in the cortex, to divided constant sized subblocks. Then a local distortion of the subblocks and a global distortion for the entire image are calculated in order. The proposed method has been evaluated using video test sequences provided by the Video Quality Experts Group (VQEG). The experimental results show that good correlation with human perception is obtained using the proposed metric, which is what we called GPSNR.

Purpose: Autologous fat injection into the facial area is a frequently used technique in aesthetic plastic surgery for augmentation of the soft tissue. Fat injection is a very safe procedure because of the advantage of being autologous tissue. Minimal foreign body reaction or infections are noted after fat injection. However, there may be some complications including those as severe as blindness. There have been some case reports on visual disturbances after autologous fat injection reported in the literature. Methods: A 21-year-old female patient underwent autologous fat injection into left eyebrow area to correct depression of soft tissue. Immediately after injection of autologous fat, she complained sudden visual loss on the left eye. She had come to our emergency room and ophthalmologic evaluation showed that the patient could only recognize hand motion. There was no abnormality of the optic nerve on magnetic resonance imaging. Suspecting an ischemic optic neuritis from fat embolism of the central retinal artery, the patient was treated conservatively with occular massage, antiglaucomatic agent, anti-inflammatory drugs and antibiotics. Visual field examination showed visual defect of half the lower hemisphere. Results: While maintaining antiglaucomatic agents and non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs, fundoscopic examination showed no abnormalities on the second day of admission. Visual field examination showed an improvement on the fourth day along with decreased eyeball pain. Significant improvement of vision was noted and the patient was discharged on the fifth day of admission. The patient was followed-up 2 days afterwards with improved vision and visual field defect. Conclusion: We describe an unusual case of sudden unilateral visual disturbance following autologous fat injection into periorbital area.
In a situation where the demand for creative talent creating new values and ideas is increasing day by day in the 21st century, students dealing with technology in the IT field have quite insufficient communication skills of materializing ideas and logically visualizing them. Therefore, the importance of systematic means of expression and methodology that can convey ideas more effectively and sensitively in the IT field is increasing. In this study, we recognized the importance of idea visualization education in the IT field by reviewing the relevant theory and examining creative thinking system cases and sought a more systematic visual communication method by investigating the awareness on creative thinking and expression. The results obtained in this study are considered to not only provide academic value as basic research in building new education programs in the IT sector in the future but be an opportunity for further research associated with creative talent training.
