  • Floor vibrations in residence and office buildings are typically induced by heel drop and walking movement of occupants. The criteria of most vibration provisions have been developed based on the vibration caused by heel drop impact rather than walking. There may be considerable differences between the vibration characteristics induced by walking and heel drop. The effect of walking vibration was not well reflected on current provisions. In this paper, shaking table test was performed to investigate the human perception level against the vibrations due to walking and heel drop. This study attempts to compare the human Perception level of two different vibration sources. Also, this study investigates the effect of damping on a Perception level under heel drop and walking vibration.

The workers of this kind regards 'quality of place', known as amenity, as an important factor in choosing a residential area. This paper analyzes how the effect of city amenity influences on residential preference of creative workers in comparison with production workers. First, as of 2014, the total number of creative workers are 5.73 million (23.2% of the total workforce), and more than half (58.6%) are concentrated in Seoul and Gyeonggi area. Second, the excess residence rate of the creative workers (number of residents/number of jobs) is high in metropolitan areas. Third, when comparing with workers in productions sector, the selection of residence location for creative workers are significantly influenced by certain city amenities such as education. The outcome of analysis is expect to be utilized as a preliminary work for making policies which promotes number of creative workers at the regional level.

  • This study aimed to find the association between geographic proximity and program participation at a Healthy Family Support Center (HFSC). Drawing demographic and geographic information from the participant list at a local HFSC in Seoul for the period 2009 to 2011, this study calculated the geographic distance from the individual residence to the center for 2,343 participants. We found that single time participants had a longer distance from their residence to the center than multiple time participants. When we compared the proximity by program areas, we found that the geographic distance to the center was shorter among education program participants than among non participants. However, there was no difference in the other areas of programs. In terms of the target group, the distance was shorter among adult program participants. Finally, the average distance among participants in multiple session programs was shorter. The results of this study indicated that the relationship between geographic proximity and program participation depended on program areas, target groups, and the number of sessions.

After the institution of the unrestrained house value in 1989 that started in Seoul, the main viewpoint of the suppliers the uniform characteristic idea has been adjusted to the various ideas and the viewpoint of the consumer. This has resulted in the prismatic composition of buildings, more stories, upgrading the quality of the design and a preference for wider space of the residence. In this study: (1) theplane surface of interior space and the design quality of the apartment from tile beginning of the 60s are considered. (2) The attribute of the apartment is grasped through analysis of the current (2002-2003) apartment within the country according to the various areas. The prediction of the future residential environment change is analyzed and as a consequence, the modification of the interior space is forecast and suggests the design trends of the apartment. • A convenience samples of Korean-Canadian/American adults who lived in Vancouver, San Hose and Los Angeles areas for over 10 years, were studied in 2000. Total of 130 adults were analyzed by immigration age. The age of immigration age was divided into 3 groups: the young group immigrated at 25 or before, the middle group immigrated at 26 to 40, and the old group immigrated at over 40. Their average length of residence in Canada and the U.S. was a little longer than 20 years. The dietary behavior patterns were similar among 3 groups, except co-eaters and dining-out frequency, and the Korean-Canadians/Americans seemed to be more home-based, family-tightened and traditional patterns than Koreans in Korea. They liked Korean traditional basic dishes, but their children liked a-la-carte ones and immigrants at early 20's showed similar food preferences as young generations. The attitudes of dietary acculturation for themselves and for their children were high. Since immigrating at age 26 to 40 years old rather than 20's or over 40's, showed stronger acculturation attitudes even with no significance and revealed significantly differences in some dietary behaviors and food preferences, it is recommended that immigration age should be considered when planning dietary foodservices at nursing care systems for Korean Canadians/Americans.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify: (a) the latent profiles of the difficulties associated with the schoolto-work transition (decline in confidence, mood swings, family disagreements, the burdens of familial expectations, economic hardship, and a lack of support) made by university students, (b) predictors (gender, age, grade, university location, co-residence with parents on weekdays, monthly household income, and parental educational attainment) of these profiles, and (c) how the profiles were associated with mental wellbeing. The participants of this study were 311 senior or above students (164 males and 147 females) under the age of 29, who were unmarried and preparing for employment. The findings of this study were as follows. First, the latent profile analysis revealed three distinct profiles: the "low overall difficulties" type (25.4%), the "moderate overall difficulties" type (49.9%), and the "high overall difficulties" type (24.7%). Second, the factors that predicted each profile included gender, age, co-residence with parents on weekdays, monthly household income, and parental educational attainment. Third, the "low overall difficulties" type demonstrated the highest level of mental well-being (emotional, social, and psychological well-being). This study was significant for examining the latent profiles of the difficulties associated with the school-to-work transition made by university students preparing for employment, while also exploring their mental well-being. Based on the results of this study, practical implications, limitations, and suggestions for further study were discussed.

  • Furniture is a medium to interconnect the living space to human, and it is the closest environmental element that limits the functions of the space, defines the style of the living, and adjusts the actions and behaviors of human. Therefore the furniture can be said to be one of the craft arts that reflects the culture and living style as they are according to the periodical, regional, and social stratum characteristics. Within this context, this study tries to suggest new design and living culture that can harmonize with the modern residence living culture and incorporate the traditional varnishing technique with lacquer that had been discontinued. Coming to the modern days, the varnishing with lacquer is getting attention again with its environment friendly characteristics and antibiotic functions, and is being applied to various applications. To inherit and maintain such an excellent traditional culture, I would like to improve the practicality by applying to modern furniture, and to contribute to develop and tell the world about the superiority of our culture.
