A Criteria of Triggering by the Intentional Double Blinks (의도적 이중 눈 깜빡임을 이용한 명령 실행시의 기준에 관한 연구)

  • Several studies of eye-slaved nonverbal communicators have been performed recently. By integrating the eye and head-position monitoring devices, the present authors had developed an eye-controlled human/computer interface based on the line-of-sight and an intentional blink to invoke commands in the preceeding study. As a successive study, this paper examines the characteristics of performing the intentional double blinks experimentally and proposes the double blinks as an alternative triggering method. The applications may extend to several domains such as rehabilitation and virtual reality system with head mounted display.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the Daniel Libeskind' spatial concept in view of the Merleau-Ponty's Phenomenology. After the coming of postmodern architecture, the concept of space ceased to be discussed between architects. Instead a sign and a form were supposed as much more important subject to define architectural discipline. But after 1980, the new concept of architectural space was experimented by the architects like Frank Gehry, Peter Eisenman, Steven Hall, and Bernard Tschumi, which was clearly distinguished from modern spatial concept. By the Daniel Libeskind' architecture, this study are to make clear this tendency. For this, we accept as an important instrument Meleau-Ponty's phenomenology and the spatial concept of Minimalism, which stress the relationship of inter-subjectivity between space and human body. Consequently, Daniel Libeskind' spatial concept is characterized by fragmental, accidental, heterogeneous space by accidental events which is occurred by movement of human, which was indentified with Merleau-Ponty's spatial concept.

  • Draft is defined as an unwanted local cooling of the human body caused by air movement. It is a serious problem in many ventilated or air conditioned buildings. Often draft complaints occur although measured velocities in the occupied zone maybe lower than prescribed in existing standards. Purpose of this study is to clarify the evaluation of thermal comfort based on temperature and air velocity in winter. Experiments were performed in an environmental chamber in winter. Indoor temperature and air velocity was artificially controlled. The experiments were performed to evaluate temperature conditions and air velocity conditions by physiological and psychological responses of human. According to physiological responses and psychological responses, it was clear that the optimum air velocity is about 0.15 m/s and 0.30 m/s.

Thermal Comfort Aspects of Pesticide-protective Clothing Made with Nonwoven Fabrics

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the thermal resistance of pesticideprotective clothing and to investigate its subjective wear performance. Three different nonwoven fabrics, which provide barrier properties against water and pesticide, were used to manufacture the experimental clothing: spunbonded nonwoven (SB), spunbonded/meltblown/spunbonded nonwoven (SM), and spunlaced nonwoven (SL). The thermal insulation values of the experimental clothing were measured with a thermal manikin, and other wear trials were performed on human subjects in a climate chamber at $28^{\circ}C$, with 70% R.H. and air movement at less than 0.15m/s. Our results found that the thermal resistance was lower in the SB experimental clothing than in the others; that the mean skin temperature of subjects who wore the experimental clothing made with SL was significantly lower than that of subjects who wore the SB and SM clothing; and that the microclimate temperature and humidity with SB were significantly higher than that of the others. Overall, the experimental clothing made with SL was more comfortable than the others in terms of subjective wear sensations.

  • This paper researched the algorithm of robot's walking and action on the basis of robot studied and made at our laboratory and studied how to efficiently control the robot joints by developing wireless Digital Servo Motor using Zigbee Sensor Network Module which is using at wide part recently. I realized the stable walking by adopt Press Sensor at the bottom of robot foot to get stability of walking. Also I let the algorithm calculate the robot movement to make the joint motion and monitored the robot walk to its motion. At this Paper, I studied the method organizing the motion by the each robot walking and measuring the torque applying to the joint. And I also knew that it is possible to make its control and construct hardware more conveniently than them of the existing studied and controling 2Legs Walking Robot by applying it at walking robot and developing wireless servo motor by Zirbee Sensor Network.

  • In this paper, a five degree-of-freedom haptic device is proposed. The proposed haptic device has a pen which is suspended by tensioned six strings. Human operator handles the pen. Six DC motors are used as actuators to generate tensions in six strings to make resultant force feedback at the pen to the human operator Six encoders are used for calculating the movement of the pen. A digital controller is used for generate control signals for the suitable tension in the six strings. A current amplifiers is used for amplifying the control signals. Cable-suspended system has advantages of structure simplicity (only with several strings driven by motors without using other tensioning mechanisms), low inertia, and high force-to-weight ratio.   • Development of a locomotive mechanism fer the capsule type endoscopes will largely enhance the ability to diagnose disease of digestive organs. In connection with it, most of researches have focused on an installable locomotive mechanism in the capsule. In this paper, it is introduced that the movement of a capsule type endoscope in digestive organ can be manipulated by magnetic force produced outside human body. Since the magnetic force is provided by permanent magnets, no additional power supply to the capsule is required. Using a robotic manipulator for locating the external magnet, the capsule motion control system can cover the whole human digestive organs. This study is particularly concentrated on dither motion effect to improve the mobility of capsule type endoscope. It was experimentally found out that the friction coefficient between the capsule and digestive organ can be remarkably reduced by superposing yawing or rolling dither motion on the translatory motion. In this paper, the experimental results obtained with the direction, amplitude and frequency of sinusoidal dither motion changed is reported.

  • An experimental investigation of COP(center of pressure) was performed using FSR(force sensing resistor) and force plate. The FSR sensor system is used as effective device to detect the movement of human body in activities of daily living. It has been shown that the FSR provides the trajectories of COP with repeatability and reliability.

  • A mathematical model was developed to calculate the muscle force of lower extremity during the gait. We constructed a model of human locomotion, which includes a muscle-skeletal system with 7 segments and 16 lower limb muscles. Using a optimization technique, muscle forces variation of the lower extremity during the gait were generated and its result was verified by comparing a experimental results of EMG analysis. Moreover. the walking movement of the model could be compared quantitatively with those of experimental studies in human by inverse dynamics.

  • Pulsatile Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation(ECMO) can mitigate the heart load and raise the patient's blood perfusion. But If the ECMO pulsate the blood flow during the systolic period, It can burden to the patient's heart. To avoid the heart injury, we have to consider the relation between output of ECMO, hemodynamic states and heart movement. To raise the efficacy of the pulsatile ECMO, we investigated the coronary perfusion, cardiac muscle tension and hemodynamic states during the ECMO perfusion by using the mathematical model of human blood circulatory system and ECMO. The outflow data of the pulsatile ECMO(T-PLS, Bioheartkorea, Korea) was obtained in vitro experiments. According to the phase and pumping rate of the ECMO, the heart's load and coronary perfusion could be adjusted to the proper levels. The results of the human- ECMO lumped parameter model showed that the synchronizing operation of the pulsatile ECLS can be helpful at stabilizing the patient's hemodynamic states.
