  • Recently, according to business conditions ;in domestic are beginning to liven up, there is a lively discussion about new housing construction around the center of the Metropolitan area. It is considerable difficult for estimation of power demand exactly to expand power facilities in these area. However. criterion thesis for estimation of power demand which has been applied in present condition is already passed through the 10 years, the reliability to calculate power demand in these area go down far away. Accordingly, it is raised for methodology to evaluate new type of power demand in new housing development in domestic. This paper presents new criterion thesis for estimation of power demand in new housing development through survey and analysis in example area.

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest the basic data which can be used as comfortable dwelling circumstance to keep a life as self-reliant and secure as possible for their activity daily life in the elderly housing. In the results of this study we can be found that the elderly complain many difficult when they do their activity daily life in the interior housing space. See the aspect of space, improvement of architectural arrangements like stairs, lighting arrangements, bathroom, kitchen are required and in the characteristic of elderly, we can found the effect of health condition, education in activity daily life.

  • The structural stability of pressure housing of SMART CEDM forming pressure boundary must be evaluated. In this paper, the stress and thermal analyses of the upper pressure housing of CEDM are performed for design pressure, hydraulic test pressure and thermal loading. Finite element and boundary condition were generated from the model which is made by I-DEAS program and the stress and thermal analyses were performed by ANSYS Program. The upper Pressure housing was analysed using 2D axisymmetric model because it is symmetry about an axis. The stress values obtained by analysis were compared with the stress intensity limit of ASME and KEPIC MNB standard.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the research trends and characteristics in the research subjects related to the housing for the elderly in Korea. The number of 199 studies was selected from the paper of Architectural Institute of Korea. The data of the present condition for welfare facilities are exploited from Korea National Statistical Office. The elderly welfare facilities are divided as 5 kinds of things ; housing facilities, medical facilities, leisure facilities, retired facilities and mixed facilities. And policy and statutes of welfare facilities are included in this study. The data were analysed with contents and chronological order and then the trends of research were studied by facilities. As the results of study, studying about housing facilities is well progressed but, the other parts of studying are little short. Especially, studying for retired facilities is seldom done so we need systematic survey and study.

  • This study begins to make inquires about user's opinion of introducing Interior Landscape into Apartment Housing to the problems of contemporary Interior Landscape and suggest the fundamental data to improve it. The city-ward drifting of population drawn from industrial development and aggravation of living condition bring about exclusion of nature and lack of green space. Furthermore, it increases the length of stay of urban liver in indoor space. Thus, dweller's desire to Interior Landscape increase but housing can't follow it. The purpose of this study is to understand characteristics of Interior Landscape, derive essential factors, study plans, establish radical data, and suggest better plans including Interior Landscape through making inquires about user's opinion.

Residential Preferences for Elderly Women in Urban Areas (도시여성노인의 주거환경 선호)

  • The purpose of this study was to suggest a future senior housing plan by examining the preference of aged women in urban areas. The subjects were 465 elderly women in Seoul and statistics employed for the analysis were frequencies, means, Chi-square test, multiple regression analysis. Results were as follows : The respondents prefered senior housing located in suburbs. The most important locational factors were accessibility to garden and the aged women wanted living 20 minutes apart by walking or driving from their children's house. There was a tendency of moving toward three-generation house sharing kitchen and enterence with their children or assisted living which cared by warden as they get senile -living alone, poor income and poor health condition-.

  • The demand of elderly care facilities due to aging population has been increased and the trend of developed countries implies the necessity of innovate approach for elderly care in Korea. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the flexible elderly housing alternative which has been introduced showing adaptability and small scale. This elderly housing alternative was designed to fulfill the condition of residential facilities for various aging phases from the independent elderly to dependent elderly. The workshop method was used for pre-evaluation of the flexible elderly housing alternative from the viewpoint of administrators, care givers and the elderly. The pre-evaluation is to estimate the facility before finalizing the design so that it facilitates more effective and suitable plan by reducing the trial and error beforehand, unlike the post-evaluation. Major responses of plans were positive and the needs for improvement about some concerns were revealed. Thus, relevant aspects of architectural drawings were amended according to workshop participants' needs and features that require to be reflected during further planning procedures were also improved. The result of this research will develop the flexible elderly housing alternative and contribute to foster environment for the elderly as well.

  • The fast growth of the elderly population and nuclear families have been creating substantial needs for residential facilities of aged people in Korea. In this study, reviews on housing preference and physical constraints have been performed based on previous researches. In this study, the results of the analyses propose developmental strategies for the elderly housing in Korea as follows: 1)Housing preference and other psychological trends of Korean elderly are rooted in changeable condition of the emotion and lack of knowledge. Therefore, the housing preference of the Korean elderly should not be considered a fixed reflection ; rather, it should be regarded as a continuously adjusted trends according to later experience and emotional status after residing in the elderly care facilities. 2)Design of elderly housing should be guided within two principles of easy access and high usability. The principles also require maximazation of social interactions among frail elderly residents on age-segregated structure. 3) The experiment among 201 frail elderly shows that each shower stall should accommodate 5-by-5 feet square for wheelchair u-turn, and 48 inch height for kitchen topsink. Finally, the experiment shows that ramp slope of the ederly housing should be within 1/16 and 1/20.

  • This case study is an effort to provide new knowledge on the U.S. elderly public housing focusing on the residents' perceptions of the environmental conditions. For this study, we conducted a survey using written questionnaires and interviews with 20 residents who rent in Columbia, MO. The recorded interview data was used for final analysis; primary findings are as follows: The residents reported relatively high satisfaction on their overall environmental conditions in the two target public housing, built in 1950s. As the most significant problem, residents perceive the lack of storage space for individual units, Partially attributed to space limitations. In addition, bathroom needs varied dramatically among residents based on their health and whether wheelchairs are used. Therefore, it was found that instead of standardized bathrooms, a customizable configuration for the resident's unique physical condition and accessibility must be considered. The residents also addressed their concerns about security for entrance and foyer areas. Due to the small living areas, they wanted to have available outdoor public space for various social activities. Furthermore, they reported the need for small social gathering areas while friends and family members are visiting them, in addition to their small living units, which average 49.8 sq. ft. each.

  • This study analyzes the economic effects of reduction of green-belt. Green-belt is a kind of land which is restricted to be developed into housings. It is important for social welfare. It affects the social welfare by two routes. One way is through the housing market process. Development of green-belt into housings increases housing supplies and lowers rents. The other is that it improves the living condition by increasing green spaces. Therefore, the development of green-belt to housing can Improve or worsen the social welfare. This paper analyzes its welfare effects by simulations. The results of the paper show that reduction of green-belt increases housing supply and lowers the rent and asset prices. The social welfare is improved in the model.
