This study examines the extent to which mediator variables, including hostility, paranoid, and attitude toward wife abuse, help explain the relationship between exposure to violence in family of origin while growing up and subsequent abuse against wives. SPSS 10.0 for windows is used to examine data obtained through 223 married men who live in Kwanju. The findings indicates that (a) exposure to violence in family of origin while growing up is related to all mediator variables; (b) exposure to violence in family of origin while growing up and mediator variables are associated with abuse against wife; (c) experiencing of child abuse predict perpetration of sexual abuse against wife, and witnessing of father-to-mother abuse account for more strongly perpetration of psychological and physical abuse against wife: (d) in general, exposure to violence in family of origin has more strong indirect impact on wife abuse for adult male.

Objectives : This study was performed to examine the hypothesis that the structural imbalance affect cardiac function and autonomic reflex system and to investigate the possibility of the chiropractic care for cardiovascular system. Methods : 78 of Dong-Guk University students with structural imbalance were recruited for the investigation from March to June 2007. Heart rate variability, Buss and Durkee Hostility inventory(BDHI) and physical examinations to evaluate psoas muscle contracture were performed. Results : Left psoas muscle contracture was associated with decrease of LF/HF ratio(p=0.048). Conclusion : Left side contracture of psoas muscle showed a tendency to decrease sympathetic activity.

In this study of 79 3- and 4-year-old children, behavioral inhibition was assessed by their preschool teachers; mother-child attachment was assessed by the researchers in home visits; and mothers reported on their parenting and their child's emotionality at 6-12 months of age. Findings were that insecure attachment was related to high child's distress reactions to limitations (negative emotionality) in early infancy and to strong maternal rejection/hostility. Higher maternal sensitivity to child's inhibition was related to more secure attachment. Girls were more highly inhibited than boys. Smiling and laughter (positive emotionality) in early infancy was negatively related to child's inhibited behavior. Maternal sensitivity to child inhibition was positively related to child's inhibited behavior. Findings are consistent with Engfer's (1993) theory of gender differences in developmental paths into behavioral inhibition.

Recently construction of new transmission line is getting harder because of social hostility to transmission tower. Howevere, load is converged in metropolitan area and power plants near this area are old and life of generator will end soon. Therefore, power to supply load in this area should be transmitted from east coast area and southern area. For these reasons, securement of transmission capacity without new transmission line construction is important. In this paper, effect of one circuit AC line change to DC transmission at the same transmission tower on the system available transfer capacity is analyzed.

Recruited from Korean-Chinese elementary schools in Shenyang and Harbin, China, 100 children living apart from their parents and experiencing non-maternal care provided information about the separation (reason and duration of parent-child separation, present location of parents, etc.), their adjustment to separation, and their perception of attachment with their caregivers. Results showed that although the separated children adjusted positively to parent-child separation in general, over 55% of them reported loneliness. Attachment with caregiver was the most significant influential variable on children's behavior problems. Duration of separation from father was related to children's hostility/aggression and hyperactivity/attention deficit problem, while duration of separation from mother influenced children's anxiety.

This study is a phenomenological study done to promote understanding of the dying process in patients with terminal cancer who were in an independent hospice center. The purpose of study was to explore and understand indepth information on the dying process in order to provide data for holistic hospice care in nursing and to give insights in to practical applications in the nursing care In-depth interviewing was done from may, through November, 1995 with 11 patient with cancer who were being cared for at K Hospice Care Center. Experiences in the dying process were discussed as they expressed feelings about death including (a) feeling of isolation because family members try to hide the diagnosis of cancer. (b) hopelessness, (c) guilt, anger, and hostility, (d) suffering from pain, (e) fear of death. However, subjects did not deny death itself and were developing peace of mind and acceptance of death through religion.

The author reviewed cognitive-behavioral approach to A type behavior pattern and hypertension which are known to be risk factors for coronary heart diseases. Those cognitive distortions frequently found in persons with A type behavior include all-nothing thinking, selective attention, personalization, and attribution of causality. Cognitive-behavioral techniques were also described, which can be applied to management of each characteristic of A type behavior pattern such as time urgency, perfectionism, achievement striving, low self-esteem, excessive work involvement, hostility, and depression. Cognitive-behavioral intervention for hypertension might help the patients to recognize and monitor anger-engendering conflicts, identify characteristic styles of responding, and experiment with alternative ways of managing conflict and anger. Since different features predominate in different individuals, it is necessary to develop treatment plan on the basis of individual characteristics and problems.

This study intends to find the empirical relationship between the environmental and organizational characteristics and the strategic use of information systems(SUIS). Sixty-five firms in Korea are surveyed and analyzed to understand the impact of these characteristics on SUIS. As environmental characteristics, we select dynamism, hostility, and heterogeneity. As organizational characteristics, we select centralization, formalization, and IS maturity. The result of correlation analysis shows that formalization and information systems maturity are correlated significantly with SUIS. The result of regression analysis reveals that formalization is a major determinant to influence on SUIS of organization. Also, additional analysis shows that service industry have higher extent of SUIS than manufacturing industry.

Written as her last collaboration with the Provincetown Players, Susan Glaspell's The Verge is an exceptional play in that its formal experiment and modernist theme are clear of her general modernist ambivalence which combines a uniquely American and feminist expression of the modernist spirit with rather conventional forms. Following critics' brief and generalizing comments on the play's protagonist embodying modernist formalism and alienation, this paper offers a full and concrete survey detailing the tenets and the slogans of Modernism inlaid in the play. Its main argument is that Glaspell strategically deployed the metaphysics of egoism, anarchic hostility to the collectiveness of bourgeois society, and formalist preoccupation in Modernism in representing a female egoist's longing for a new order of society, illustrating an intersection between Modernism and feminism. It concludes that The Verge is an extremely rare case of modernist literature where a play, allegedly the least modernist genre of all according to Christopher Innes, exemplifies the "eloquent critical acts entangled in the creative work" which Michael Levenson lists as a distinct feature of modernist texts.

Deasoon ideas are doctrine of Deasoonjinrihoe, which was founded by Ilsoon Gang, religious thinker in the late of Josun Dynasty. This study aims at examining influences of Confucius ideas implicit in Deasoon ideas and finding out their meaning in the modern society. Ilsoon Gang considered Confucianism very important when he forms his Deasoon ideas and after all, he included Confucius ideas to Deasoon ideas to develop his own religious theory. The meanings of Deasoon ideas in the modern world are as follows: First, Deasoon's harmonious ideas on yin and yang can be a healing method to solve conflicts and confrontations of the modern society. Second, Deasoon's harmony between God and humans and ideas on human dignity is helpful to solve human isolation that the modern society faces. Third, Deasoon's ideas that human's hostility and grudge must be healed teaches loves and co-existence to humans. Fourth, Dotongjinkyeong, which is Deasoon's ideal world, is the world where communication between an individual and the whole, God and humans, a human and a human, and humans and the nature perfectly are harmonized.
