  • 본 논문은 PMIPv6 도메인에 접속한 이동노드의 멀티인터페이스 환경에서 플로우 이동성을 지원하기 위해 HNP(Home Network Prefix) 변환 기법을 제안한다. 기본적으로 PMIPv6 프로토콜은 멀티인터페이스 환경에서 인터페이스 이동성을 제공한다. 하지만 이 기능은 멀티이터페이스 간의 플로우 기반 이동성을 제공하지 못한다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 플로우 이동성을 제공하기 위해 IETF NetExt WG에서 논의되고 있는 논리인터페이스 기반 HNP 변환 기법을 제안한다. 이 기법은 효율적인 플로우 이동성을 제공하기 위한 방안이다.

Performance of End-to-end Model Based on Convolutional LSTM for Human Activity Recognition

  • Human activity recognition (HAR) is a key technology in many applications, such as smart signage, smart healthcare, smart home, etc. In HAR, deep learning-based methods have been proposed to recognize activity data effectively from video streams. In this paper, the end-to-end model based on convolutional long short-term memory (LSTM) is proposed to recognize human activities. Convolutional LSTM can learn features of spatial and temporal simultaneously from video stream data. Also, the number of learning weights can be diminished by employing convolutional LSTM with an end-to-end model. The proposed HAR model was optimized with various simulation environments using activities data from the AI hub. From simulation results, it can be confirmed that the proposed model can be outperformed compared with the conventional model.

  • There are several data broadcasting standards that the developers should apply when develops any interactive digital TV contents. In Korea, we adopts ACAP(Advanced Common Application Platform) as terrestrial data broadcasting standard, MHP(Multimedia Home Platform) fur satellite data broadcasting and OCAP(OpenCable Application Platform) for cable data broadcasting. Therefore, content providers must develop different applications which suited for different standards - even if the application is exactly same. This is waste of time and energy. This paper suggests a solution to solve this problem among different broadcasting platforms - MHP, OCAP and ACAP. We compared these specifications, and found out what APIs are typically used far applications. Then we designed XML file structures that can be used to define contents of applications. We also implemented an authoring tool which automatically generates XML files by interaction with users. This paper also ascertains Xlet applications, produced by the authoring tool, works properly on each different data broadcasting standard - MHP, OCAP and ACAP.

UbiController: Universal Mobile System for Controlling Appliances in Smart Home Environment (UbiController: 스마트 홈 환경의 가전기기 제어를 위한 통합 모바일 시스템)

  • Users in ubiquitous computing environment can easily access and use a multitude of devices and services anywhere and anytime. The key technology to realize this scenario is the method to intuitively provide proper user interfaces for each device and service. Previous attempts simply provided a designated user interface for each device and service or provided an abstract user interface to control common functions of different services. To select a target appliance, either user directly specified the target device or depended on sensors such as RFID tags and readers limiting the applicable scenarios. In this paper, we present UbiController which uniquely uses camera on the mobile device to recognize markers of appliances to acquire user interface for controlling task. UbiController aims to provide automatic discovery of multiple services in the smart home environment, support traditional GUI and novel camera-based recognition method as well as intuitive interaction methods for users. In this paper, we show experiments on the performance of UbiController's discovery and recognition methods and user feedback on interaction methods from a user study.

  • In current digital broadcasting systems, GEM(Globally Executable MHP)-based middlewares such as MHP(Multimedia Home Platform), OCAP(OpenCable Application Platform), ACAP(Advanced Common Application Platform) are the norm. Despite much of the common characteristics shared, such as MPEG-2 and DSM-CC(Digital Storage Media-Command and Control) protocols, the information and data structures they need are slightly different, which results in incompatibility issues. In this paper, in line with an effort to develop an integrated DTV middleware, we propose a general-purpose, reconfigurable DSM-CC architecture for supporting various standard GEM-based middlewares without code modifications. First, we identify DSM-CC components that are common and thus can be shared by all GEM-based middlewares. Next, the system is provided with middleware-specific information and data structures in the form of XML. Since the XML information can be parsed dynamically at run time, it can be interchanged either statically or dynamically for a specific target middleware. As for the performance issues, the response time and usage frequency of DSM-CC module highly contribute to the performance of STB(Set-Top-Box). In this paper, we also propose an efficient application cache management strategy and evaluate its performance. The performance result has shown that the cache strategy reflecting user preferences greatly helps to reduce response time for executing application.

Electromagnetic Wave and EMF Attenuation by Shielding Materials in home appliances (가전제품 전자파 현황 및 차폐재에 의한 감쇄 효과)

  • Spectrum analyzer and electromagnetic field meter were used to investigate the EM generation behaviour in different types of home electrical appliances. During microwave oven operation, the EM power measured at a point 30cm apart was measured in the range of 8~11mW/㎡, the strength of the low frequency magnetic field was 60~80mG and the electric field strength was measured at 150~160V/m. For smart phone wireless charging pad, it was measured at an electromagnetic power of 0.4mW/㎡, an electric field of 160 V/m and a magnetic field of 1mG at a point 10cm away. For microwave oven and wireless charging pad, if used within 10cm, the size of the electric field has been measured at a large value that exceeds the human body protection standard and may be hazardous to humans. On the other hand, home appliances such as TVs, hairdryers and refrigerators all showed very low levels of electromagnetic waves, electric fields and magnetic fields, with no harmful effects seen. For electromagnetic shielding, the metal Cu fabric and metal foil had a high level of EM shielding, while polymer films had a low EM shielding characteristic.

  • This paper presents an augmented reality (AR) based rehabilitation exercise system to enhance the motor function of the hands for the paretic/hemi-paretic patient. The existing rehabilitation systems rely on mechanical apparatus for palsy rehabilitation, but we aim to use the rehabilitation system at home with easy configuration and minimized equipment by the computer vision based approach. The proposed method evaluates the interaction status of the fingertip action by using the position and the contact of the fingertip markers. We obtain the 2D positions of the fingertip markers from a single camera, and then transform the 3D positions from the calibrated camera space by using an ARToolKit marker. We adopt simple geometric calculation by the conversion of the 2D interest points into the 3D interaction points for the simple interactive task in AR environment. Some experimental results show that the proposed method is practical and simply applicable to the applications with personal AR interaction.

Finding the Research Possibilities of Computer Technologies in Art Education

  • The purpose of this study is to try finding the research possibilities of computer technology in art education and understand why computer technology has such a great impact on our contemporary education. The methodology of this study is based on the analysis of literature review. I have tried to find the importance articles in the journals of art education such as Studies in Art Education and Art Education published from the National Art Education Association, one of the most well-known organizations in the field of art education. To draw the purpose of this study, I found articles and categorized the information using key words such as aesthetic, feminist, gender issues, and interactivity. After analyzing, I have discussed about the research possibilities and important issues of computer technology in art education and then categorized the information found in each article into four different subheadings: 1) the visual effects of computer graphics in art education, 2) gender issues based on the computer technology, 3) interactive multimedia and social interactions among students, 4) research possibilities with computer technologies in art education. The findings are as follow. Firstly, there were many research possibilities of computer technologies in art education such as ways of criticizing the contemporary art world. Secondly, I found that computer technology has a great impact on art education because students are more eager to engage with computer technologies-based media activities and very familiar with new media either at home and school. Therefore, we, as educators, must address how the student will be systematically engaged with computer technologies in their educational environment and should determine what knowledge and skills prospective teachers bring to our teacher education programs and how and where they acquired this knowledge.

  • In this paper, we design and develop an educational virtual system which can experience Goguryeo tomb murals in the virtual world. Goguryeo tomb murals are well known in the world, and they are registered as a UNESCO World Heritage site by the value Acknowledged worldwide. We design an user-friendly interface for Goguryeo tome murals by Flash, and make a modelling and rendering with 3D Max. In addition, we create an educational animation with Adobe Premiere. We choose some of items such as Goguryeo tomb murals, historical sites, high-level description of periodization, Goguryeo's clothes, home, play as sub-themes, and we develop a system with detailed views and informations for the daily life of the people of Goguryeo.

  • Anthropometry has been broadly explored in various fields including automobile industry, home electronic appliances, medical appliances and sports goods with aiming at reaching satisfaction to consumer's need and efficiency. However, current technologies to measure a human body still have barriers in which the methods mostly seem to be contingent on expensive devices such as scanner and digital measuring instruments and to be directly touchable to the body when obtaining body size.. Therefore, in this paper, we present a general method to automatically extract size of body from a real body image acquired from a camera and to utilize it into recommend systems including clothing and bicycle fitting. At first, Haar-like features and AdaBoost algorithm are employed to detect body position. Then features of body can be recognized using AAM. Finally clothing and bicycle recommending modules have been implemented and experimented to validate the proposed method.
