The Influence of LOHAS Consumption Tendency and Perceived Consumer Effectiveness on Trust and Purchase Intention Regarding Upcycling Fashion Goods

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of LOHAS consumption tendency and of the perceived consumer effectiveness of young consumers on trust and purchase intentions regarding upcycling fashion goods. Data were collected from a questionnaire survey of 201 university students living in Daegu City, South Korea. The data were analyzed to investigate a structural model and test the research hypotheses, using the AMOS 20.0 statistical package. The results can be summarized as follows. First, LOHAS consumption tendency had a positive impact on trust in upcycling fashion goods. Second, LOHAS consumption tendency did not impact purchase intention with regard to upcycling fashion goods. Third, perceived consumer effectiveness had a positive effect on trust in upcycling fashion goods. Fourth, perceived consumer effectiveness had a positive impact on purchase intention with regard to upcycling fashion goods. Fifth, trust had a positive influence on purchase intention regarding upcycling fashion goods. The results of this study provide guidance for marketers and retailers who are interested in upcycling fashion goods.

  • The purpose of this research was to give the basic educational sources that could nurture creative fashion designers for the creative advancement of the fashion industry. After investigating and categorizing the ideation behind designer collections in four fashion capitals - Paris, London, Milan and New York, the materialization of concepts was analyzed in relation to inspiration and design elements. As a result, design inspiration was classified into figures, artworks and art trends, historicity of fashion, regional features, natural objects, artificial objects, abstract concepts, clothing for specific occasions, events, and others. This study found that inspiration for fashion design comes from various fields, and that creative design skills can be nurtured through ideation training using a wide variety of subjects.

  • The purpose of this paper is to investigate how the young fashion which maintains a large share of fashion market emerged in the 1960s, its characteristics and what its influences on the contemporary fashion industry are. In particular, I am going to consider the significance of the young fashion by looking at the formation of niche market, the emergence of mass market for fashion, the expansion of aesthetic categories. we will be able to see the 60s young fashion of the young generation who emerged as new consumers in mass consumer culture exerted important influences on the contemporary fashion industry. First, the counterculture of young generation who rebeled against the uniformity of mass production helped the formation of new niche market. Second, the young fashion which pursued the lower prices for fashion made a big contribution to the popularization of fashion. The young generations tendency to demand new things and rapid change coincided with that of inexpensive popular fashion people can buy and change more easily than expensive high fashion. Lastly, the playful tendency of the young fashion expanded the aesthetic boundaries of the clothing, going beyond the uniformity of modernism with the emergency of diverse fashion materials - fabric and textiles - enable by technological development and the miniaturization of forms as revealed in mini skirt.

Needs for the Educational Subjects of Practitioners in Apparel Distribution Industry in Taejon and Chongju (대전.청주지역 의류유통산업 종사자들의 관련 교과목 필요도에 대한 인식)

  • The purposes of this study were to investigate the needs for the educational subjects of practitioners in apparel distribution industry and to examine the relationship between the needs and their socio-demographic variables. And it was intended to be used as basic data to develop the curriculum for continuing education in university. The subjects were consisted of 473 practitioners in apparel distribution industries in Taejon and Chongju. A questionnaire was used and classified into seven areas--basic area textile science, design, clothing construction, fashion marketing theory, fashion marketing practice and business management. Descriptive analysis, t-test and ANOVA were used for statistical analyses. The results of this study were as follows: First, the educational needs of subjects by practitioners were in the following order: 1)fashion marketing practice, 2)design, 3)fashion marketing theory, 4)business management, 5)clothing construction, 6)textile science, 7)basic area. Second, the educational needs of subjects by practitioners were also related to their socio-demographic variables like educational background, work area, type of market, total work experience, years in present job, and the role. It was implied that subject areas like fashion marketing and design with theory and practice we of most importance for practitioners in apparel distribution industry. Therefore, a university curriculum of continuing education for them should take into account of those factors mentioned above.

  • The purpose of this study is to spread the public recognition for the style of Islamic dress has been ignorantly left and provide this as the basic data for Islamic fashion design. This treatise restricts the Islamic scope into the southeast Asia and confuted the study referring to Islam related books, treatise, domestic and foreign fashion magazines as well as newspaper articles, Internet and screen materials. The study results are as follows: Commonly Islam as a term of religious scope means complex cultural body based on Islam. 1. The Islamic social and cultural images were categorized as (1) conservative and sexual (2) simple, static, decorative and rhythmical (3) dark, violent, bright and amusing image. 2. Islamic nations' style of dress was characterized (1) surface decorative dress (2) practical outer garment (3) trousers style. 3. Both men and women basically put on trousers in children's stories and animations. In case of women, they wear skirts and according a social standing, tunic and caftan style jackets. As for men and women, Dey both wear turbans or chadors but in particular, wealthy classes put on a distinguishable turbans and chadors with splendid accessories. 4. The characteristics of Islamic fashion are lace decoration around a sleeve and the waist or blouse and harem pants with a elastic cord. In addition, they are splendid necklace and ring earings looking old, accessories with big pendants and dragging belts. These examples are shown in collections and streets.

  • Recently, flexible displays have been used as part of fashion beyond the concept of parts for electronic products. The flexible display applied to wearable fashion products flexibly bends according to the wearing position of the human body and, at the same time, decorates the fashion product more splendidly through the screen on which images or videos are displayed. Flexible displays, which are used for clothes and accessories, combine analogue fashion sensibility with digital screens to create a new level of convergence product design and expand the range of fashion design and fashion materials. This study aims to analyze the trends of the development and commercialization of fashion products that use flexible displays. As a research method, theoretical research and empirical research through case analysis were conducted in parallel. First, as a theoretical study, the morphological and technical characteristics of flexible displays were examined. Through theoretical studies, the effect of the characteristics of flexible displays on the development of wearable fashion products was investigated. Second, as an empirical case study, the design of wearable fashion products using flexible displays over the past 10 years and the characteristics of the displays used in the products were analyzed. Based on the characteristics analyzed, the product design, display and product integration methods and the commercialization stages of wearable fashion products using flexible displays were analyzed.

Job Stressors, Job Stress Symptoms and Job Performance of Workers in Fashion Industry (섬유패션산업 종사자의 직무스트레스 요인, 직무스트레스 징후 및 직무성과)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate job stressors, job stress symptoms, and job performance of workers in fashion industry. The data were obtained from questionnaire completed by 529 workers who were employed in textile or clothing manufactures located in Seoul, Daegu, Busan, and Masan area. The SPSS package was used for data analysis which included frequency, mean, correlation, and factor analysis. Job stressors consisted of environmental related stressors, job related stressors(task characteristics and role characteristics) and organization related stressors(organization climate and career development). Most of job stressors were significantly correlated with job stress symptoms but their correlation coefficients were low. Among job stressors, quantitative work overload was found to be a major stressor. Workers in fashion industry appeared to evaluate their job performance relatively good. Also, it was found that behavioral and psychological symptoms were negatively correlated with job performance.

  • The purpose of this study is to observe the meaning of Minimalism and the characteristics in modem fashion design. The Minimalism appeared in 1960's has affect on fashion design which are simple miniskirt or Courrage look of those days. It leads a fashion system to the simple style goes with the life style of modem persons although the characteristics are somewhat different the styles in 1960's with those of 1990's. Minimal style is not just simple style but abbriviate expression constrained at the minimum. The styles appeared to be an undecorated simple line which are a sleeveless onepiece, a simple suit with no pocket and no collar and narrow shoulder. Colors are monochrome coordination and pursue a simplicity which is monotone variation. Patterns also appeared to be a geometric or abstract pattern for example check and stripe, which intend to minimum expression. Matirials are hightech glossy coating textures which have a futuristic image. In conclusion, the Minimalism in 1990's appeared to be a post-minimalism associated with postmodernism and a hightech-minimal under the technology development.

  • The purpose of this study is to understand the meanings of formative methods (re-creative expressions, abstractive expressions, conceptual expressions, and adaptive expressions) as they are adapted to fashion design. Re-creative expression is the representation of real objects from nature or the environment, sometimes in a humorous or surrealistic way. Abstractive expression is the use of reconstructed forms extracted from the basic characteristics of natural things, which take on variety of appearances based on the designer’'s creativity and imagination. Conceptual expression refers to the representation of ideas, concepts, and other products of the human mind. And, adaptive expression is a method of design that is focused on function driving the form of clothing. Modern fashion design is a fluid hybrid of these various types of expression that serves as an extension of the designers’' aesthetic values.

Formative Characteristics of Dress Shirt Design on Contemporary Men's wear (현대남성복에 나타난 드레스셔츠 디자인의 조형적 특성)

  • The purpose of this study was to make new suggestions for the production of high value-added, fashion goods by reviewing and synthesizing the design of dress shirts. (Ed-I've combined paragraphs here) For this study, 1491 photographs on the dress shirts were collected for analysis from men's collection$(2001\sim2006)$. Concerning the actual characteristics of men's fashion design, the following conclusions were obtained from the analysis of the dress shirts of men's collection. (Ed-I've combined paragraphs here) First, feminine ornaments such as frill, pin tuck, and embroidery can be seen in men's dress shirts and men's sexuality has changed into a softer men's image. Second, asymmetry balance using detachability are expressed in the collars, sleeves, and plackets of men's dress shirts. Third, in a very novel suggestion, a combination of two items was designed in a dress shirt and variant shirt forms were created. Fourth, formal style is mainly shown in men's shirts and the traditional classic is increasingly becoming emphasized recently
