  • The direct extrusion with porthole die can produce condenser tube which has the competitive power in costs and qualities compared with the existing conform extrusion. In general, porthole die extrusion has a great advantage in the forming that produces the hollow sections difficult to produce by conventional extrusion with a mandrel on the stem. Especially, condenser tube manufactured by porthole die belongs to sophisticated part and demands tighter dimension tolerance and higher surface finish than any other part. In order to confirm the general of porthole die extrusion, we perform the 3D FE analysis of hot porthole extrusion in non-steady state by using DEFORM 3D and investigate a pattern of elastic deformation for porthole die through the stress analysis using ANSYS 5.5 during extrusion process.

  • For the countermeasure of expected higher thermal load in miller cycle engine, coolant flows in the cylinder head of base engine with several coolant flow methods and drilled hole passages were measured by using PIV technique. And the cooling effect was evaluated by measurements of wall temperatures according to each coolant flow method. It was found that the series flow system was most suitable among the discussed 3 types of coolant flow methods since it had the best cooling effect in cylinder head by the fastest coolant flow velocity It was also found that for drilled water passage to decrease the large thermal load in exhaust valve bridge, nozzle type is more effective compared with round type of water passage, and its size has to be determined according to the coolant flow pattern and velocity in each cylinder.

  • The annular-reverse combustor was designed for APU combustor and a three dimensional analysis for reactive flow in the combustor was performed. At the same time, the experimental work was performed in KARl combustor test facility. In this study we found out that tangential swirl type combustor is good for flame holding than single vortex type combustor. The flame tube main hole size and relative position are very important parameters for combustor general performance. The ignition characteristics are strongly depend on the air fuel ratio with combustor inlet volume flow ratio.

청대 피령의 조형적 특성 (Formal Characteristics of Pi-Ling(披領) of Qing Dynasty)

  • The purpose of this paper is to understand the formal characteristics of Pi-Ling by investigating the Pi-Ling(披領)'s system of Qing Dynasty. As a research document, Qing-Huidian-Tu(淸會典圓) has been used. The following results were found out in this research; 1) The form of Pi-Ling was horizontally wide and both sides were narrow and sharp. There was a circular hole in the center of Pi-Ling. It was worn around the neck by a button in its front center. 2) materials: The materials of Pi-Ling were the leather of marten or sea-lion, satins, and silk. 3) The color of Pi-Ling was purple or blue. 4) Moving dragons(行龍) were used on the pattern of Pi-Ling. And the Pi-Ling of low level officials had no patterns.

  • An effective nesting algorithm has been proposed to allocate the arbitrary shapes on one or several raw sheets by applying the well-known simulated annealing algorithm as the optimization technique. In this approach, both the shapes to be allocated and the raw sheets are represented as the grid-based models. This algorithm can accommodate every possible situations encountered in cutting apparel parts from the raw leather sheets. In other words, the usage of the internal hole of a shape for other small shapes, handling of the irregular boundaries and the interior defects of the raw sheets, and the simultaneous allocation on more than one raw sheets have been tackled on successfully in this study. Several computational experiments are presented to verify the robustness of the proposed algorithm.

  • Abrupt scene changes generally incur the afterimage effect. So, the unblocked image portion is still viewed by human eyes just after it is blocked by some pattern. Yovo's secure display method utilized this phenomenon and it is systematically analyzed using computational afterimage modeling by replacing the complex afterimage effect via simple low-pass filtering. With this approach, realistic images perceived by the human eye can be computationally generated at every single moment, especially reflecting the afterimage effect. The generated images are compared with the original images to determine the factors that affect the image quality of the secure display method. The simulation results demonstrate that the ratio of the unblocked portion to the blocked portion of an image and the playback rate are two primary factors related to the recognized image quality. We also found that the two factors are still effective for generalized secure display techniques.

  • The spatial fuel distribution of the stratified charge of a high pressure 6-hole injector was examined in a single cylinder optical direct injection spark ignition(DISI) engine. The effects of in-cylinder charge motion, and fuel injection pressure, and coolant temperature were investigated using a planar LIF(Laser Induced Fluorescence) technique. It was confirmed that the in-cylinder tumble flow played more effective role in the spatial fuel distribution of the stratified charge than the swirl flow during the compression stroke and the fuel distribution area increased due to the activation of the fuel vaporization by the increase of the coolant temperature. But, the increase of the fuel supplying pressure could not change the pattern of the fuel vapor distribution against the expectation.

  • The floating ring seal is used in an oxidizer and a fuel pump of the turbo pump unit in the liquid rocket engine to optimize a leakage without rubbing phenomenon. The damper floating ring seal, one of the floating ring seals, is with round hole pattern surfaces. It can reduce the leakage by increased friction factor that obtained from experimental data. In this paper, the leakage test about floating ring seal and damper floating ring seal was conducted. The test result showed the leakage performance of damper floating ring seal was better than the leakage performance of floating ring seal. With the leakage test the lock-up and rotation test about seal was conducted and that position is measured. The relatively large lock-up eccentric ratio was obtained from the test result of damping floating ring seal. The attitude angle of seal increases with increasing of shaft rotation

프라즈마장비의 발파공법 (Rock of Fragmentation with Plasma Blasting Method)

  • Rock fragmentation with plasma blasting technique has advantageous properties in contrast to the conventional blasting method in controlling of flying rocks and ground vibrations when residents are complaining or surrounding structures stay in protection from blasting operations. The experiences show in urban construction works that the plasma blasting is the most possible method to prevent damages and minimize adverse environmental impacts. The fragmentation energy level is evaluated by numerical simulation using PFC for various drill hole pattern and tested accordingly to get the feasibility. The energy output of plasma blasting system has been improved to a level of 1 MJ, which can break a $2-3m^3$ granite boulder or 1.5m height bench face. Measurements are carried out to get the ground vibration level and propagation equation. So that the control of the blasting operations can be performed more precisely and safely.

SAC 형상이 분사특성 및 분무형상에 미치는 영향 (Influence of SAC Shape on Injection Characteristics and Spray)

  • To clarify the influence of SAC shape of hole-type diesel nozzle on injection characteristics and spray patterns, the injection rate of three nozzle types(standard SAC nozzle, Needle-cut VCO nozzle and VCO nozzle) were measured by Zeuch's method and pictures of the sprays were taken by CCD camera. As the pump speed became higher, the injection characteristics of the three nozzles were different. Injection rate and perssure curves at the high pressure pipe in Needle-cut VCO nozzle were much more similar to the VCO nozzle than those of the SAC nozzle. When the needle was at pre-lift period for all speeds, the spray of the Needle-cut VCO nozzle showed almost the same shape as the SAC type nozzle. There was no differense in spray pattern at the needle full-lift periods.
