The vertical concentration profiles of chromium in sediment cores were measured from Lakes Superior, Michigan, and Ontario in an attempt to determine spatial and historical variations. Pre-industrial concentrations of chromium are typical for soils in the Great Lakes region. Only Lakes Ontario and Michigan exhibit anthropogenic enrichments of chromium in the sediments. Sediment profiles in Lakes Ontario and Michigan indicate that the rates of anthropogenic chromium loading to the Great Lakes region are decreasing. Focusing corrected inventories are similar within each lake and those are higher in Lake Ontario than Lake Michigan. The results are interpreted to indicate that there is a small atmospheric component to chromium inputs to the Great Lakes and that the relative importance of this input decreases from Lake Superior to Lake Ontario.

Mathematics becomes more indispensible course today, while it seems approaching to the middle school students as a boring and hard one. So, we need to take more motivational teaching devices as well as mere emphases on its importance in order to keep the students up to tile curriculum and improve the education efficiency. Then, history of mathematics call lie one major source of the motivation, since, by telling the tales on the specific unit subject, teachers can awake the students'interest naturally. Today, most of the mathematics textbooks for the middle school students have some historical tales about each unit subject in their respective unit introduction. However, many tales don't seem quite helpful or motivating to understand unit subjects, for they are either abstract or fragmental. In that sense, this paper has three sample guidelines for teaching, which ate meant to introduce historical tales to motivate the students before teachers may get into tile main unit subject. Those suggested in this paper may work as the motivational teaching devices which would make the students mote interested, more positive, and consequently more successful in mathematics.

"濟衆立效方" is the oldest Koryo dynasty medical document known to date. Despite its historical importance, due to the absence of its original copy, its true characters could not be understood. Through comparison of the many documents that cited 濟衆立效方, it could be found that 濟衆立效方 can be classified into two parts based on its contents and form. In Chinese medical texts, neither the name 交效散 nor any similar prescription is mentioned. 濟衆立效方 was the first in suggesting the usage of pine needles and salt for fomentation and not for internal use. Thus 交效散 can be thought of as the oldest indigenous prescription preserved in Korean history. 濟衆立效方 conveys records of the combination of the ancient origin pine needle fomentation and the creative addition of salt.

Yeosu area from the old historical monuments and artifacts related communications signal station, directions display panels, lighthouse, Geomundo the first submarine cable installation, etc. The historical value of the communication is present. Time is regarded as an essential feature of land information enabling to track historical landmarks of land uses, ownerships, and taxations based on cadastral maps. Object-oriented temporal modeling helps to simulate and imitate time-varying cadastral data in a chronological and persistent manner. The aim of study is to analyze the role of temporal cadastre tracing footprints of foregoing events in response to various needs and demands associated with historical information of cadastral transactions. In this paper, temporal cadastral object model (TCOM) is proposed to delineate object version history. As an evidence of a new approach and conceptual idea for the importance of temporal cadastre, a part of spatio-temporal processes is illustrated to explain major changes of cadastral map. The feasibility and application of the approach is confirmed by proof-of-concept of temporal cadastre in land information management.

Historical review on Korean vegetables was performed to illustrate the important position of the vegetables in Korean food culture. It is assumed that the cultivation of vegetable crops had been begun along with crop production. Korean people placed great importance on quality of vegetables including flavor and texture. It was also confirmed that vegetables had been cultivated and preserved by scientific methods. They grew vegetables at their leisure and knew to utilize medicinal effects of vegetables. This review reveals Korean ancestor's wisdom to use vegetables as foods for the relief of the sufferers from famine at the time of spring food shortage or crop failures.

This article introduces the storytelling project about Bukbyeon-dong, Gimpo-si by the Kimpo Cultural Foundation in 2018. The project archives local history and culture and includes research, exploration, oral history, story organization, and presentation of ways to utilize contents. Through this, the article aims to present the limitations and importance of the project, the meaning of the excavation of local historical and cultural resources, and the need for local archives.

Uihakyimmun (醫學入門) was written around 1580 by Li Ting (李梴) during the Ming Dynasty of China. Later, during the mid-Joseon period, Uihakyimmun (醫學入門) was introduced to Joseon and is believed to have contributed to the development of Joseon medicine. The importance of this Uihakyimmun (醫學入門) was especially evident as it was designated as a textbook for medical examination in the late Joseon Dynasty. This paper examines the process of Uihakyimmun (醫學入門) being introduced into Joseon based on historical records. It also considered the reason why Medical Education was selected as the textbook for the medical examination instead of Donguibogam (東醫寶鑑). As a result, it was widely read by court doctors before being selected as a test textbook, and gradually became a formal textbook after being used in informal tests. In addition, it was revealed through historical records that the reason why Uihakyimmun (醫學入門) was chosen instead of Donguibogam (東醫寶鑑) was because Uihakyimmun (醫學入門) fit better with Confucian values.

Recently, various types of dramas have been broadcasted in Korea. Especially, historical dramas having backgrounds about historical events or characters have been recorded high ratings of the viewing audience, as well as a lot of influence on many parts of Korean society. Besides, the historical drama like raised a craze for popular Korean cultures in many Asian countries. The subjects and characters of historical drama are diversifying in recent years. For example, is a royal cook, is a story about running away slaves and their chaser, is a story about a very well-known painter of the Joseon Dynasty era, and is a veterinarian. At this point, in celebration of the officially appointed "year of mathematics", it is very meaningful to demonstrate the importance of mathematics with a historical drama about mathematics and mathematicians of the Joseon Dynasty. In this article, the reasons for production of historical dramas about mathematics and mathematicians in the Joseon Dynasty was presented in two ways. First, modern mathematics has high level of abstractness as its nature, and therefore many students and the public can not understand what except for some areas. Second, it is possible the easier and various approaches can be used to deal with contents about real-life in the view of popularization of mathematics. Also, this article would aim to explore the main character and episodes about mathematics and mathematicians in Joseon Dynasty. For example, the anecdote of Hong Jung Ha, the works of mathematics in the King Sejong's periods, the study of Hong Gil Ju, the joint researches between Nam Byung Gil and Lee Sang Hyuk, the story of Lee Seung Hun, and the mathematics study of middle class people.

This research has set up the fire fighting general index for Fire fighting of Crowded Wooden Building Cultural Asset which is composed of traditional wooden building instinct or complex. The results of this study are as follows. First, Fire fighting general index for crowded wooden building cultural asset, it is necessary to set fire fighting priority by considering fire risk and cultural asset characteristic and establish the system to cope with fire disaster in the most effective way by arranging facilities with restricted resource. Second, Fire risk is the index to draw fire and spread risk of cultural asset by applying index calculation processes such as fire load, burning velocity and ignition material spread characteristic to various aspects such as individual building and complex and combining their results. Cultural asset importance index consists of individual building evaluation, publicity security degree, area importance evaluation and historical landscape degree evaluation. Third, for each index combination process, weight of each index is drawn on the basis of AHP analysis result that is performed to the specialists of related fields. The formula to apply and combine it is prepared to apply the model to include meaning of each index and comparative importance degree.
