The high temperature corrosion of Fe-C alloys were studied at I atm SO gas in the temperature range 500~80$0^{\circ}C$ by means of a thermogravimetric analysis. The Na2SO4 induced high tempwrature corrosion rate was also measured at atm O2 gas under above the temperature renge. The reaction products were identified with the aid of X-ray diffraction technique, and micostruction of the alloy/scale interface was observed with a optical microscope and SEM. The experimental results were disussed by the themodeynamic calcutions. Under above the experimental condition. the reaction rates decrbon with increasing carbon content. The transfer of Fe ion was limited by a residue of carbon precipitated at alloy scale interface due to the oxidation of Fe-C alloys at alloy surface. The effect of cold working on reaction rate was different between the Fe containing low carbon and Fe-C Alloy containing carbon above 0,73 wt%. In a cold worked iron containing low carbon content, the crystallization of metal surface leads to the poor adherence between the alloy and the cavity formed between the alloy and scale. The outward diffusion of ion through the scale is estimated to be hindered by the cavity formed between the scale, consequently decreasing reaction rate. In the case Fe-C containing carbon above 0.73 Wt% alloy, the reaction rate was little affected by cold working, because the effect of content on reaction rats is greater than the effect of cold working.
Simple fabrication of a powdered Ge-reduced graphene oxide (Ge-rGO) composite via spray pyrolysis and reduction is introduced herein. Successful incorporation of the rGO nanosheets with Ge hindered the aggregation of Ge and conferred enhanced structural stability to the composite by alleviating the mechanical stress associated with drastic volume changes during repeated cycling. The Li-ion storage performance of Ge-rGO was compared with that of powdered Ge metal. The reversible discharge capacity of Ge-rGO at the $200^{th}$ cycle was $748mA\;h\;g^{-1}$ at a current density of $1.0A\;g^{-1}$ and Ge-rGO showed a capacity of $375mA\;h\;g^{-1}$ even at a high current density of $5.0A\;g^{-1}$. The excellent performance of Ge-rGO is attributed to the structural robustness, enhanced electrical conductivity, and formation of open channels between the rGO nanosheets, which facilitated electrolyte penetration for improved Li-ion diffusion.

Oxide semiconductor gas sensors are widely used for detecting toxic, explosive, and flammable gases due to their simple structure, cost-effectiveness, and potential integration into compact devices. However, their reliable gas detection is hindered by a longstanding issue known as humidity dependence, wherein the sensor resistance and gas response change significantly in the presence of moisture. This problem has persisted since the inception of oxide semiconductor gas sensors in the 1960s. This paper explores the root causes of humidity dependence in oxide semiconductor gas sensors and presents strategies to address this challenge. Mitigation strategies include functionalizing the gas-sensing material with noble metal/transition metal oxides and rare-earth/rare-earth oxides, as well as implementing a moisture barrier layer to prevent moisture diffusion into the gas-sensing film. Developing oxide semiconductor gas sensors immune to humidity dependence is expected to yield substantial socioeconomic benefits by enabling medical diagnosis, food quality assessment, environmental monitoring, and sensor network establishment.
Dynamic and equilibrium properties of n-alkane chains immersed in solvent molecules have been investigated by a molecular dynamics method. The n-alkane chain is assumed to be a chain of elements (CH$_2$) interconnected by bonds having a fixed bond length and bond angle, but each bond of the chain is allowed to execute hindered internal rotation. We studied the effect of the number of the chain elements (N$_c$ = 10, 15 and 20) on the equilibrium properties of the system, e.g., the pair correlation functions between a chain element and solvent molecules, g$_{cs}$(r), and between the chain elements, g$_{cc}$(r), and the configurational properties such as the mean-square end-to-end distance < R$^2$ >, the mean-square radius of gyration < S$^2$ >, and the eigenvalues of the moment-of-inertia tensor < S$_i^2$ > / < S$^2$ > (i = 1, 2 and 3). We also studied the dynamic properties of the system, e.g., the autocorrelation function C(A;t) where A = R$^2$(t), = S$^2$(t), or = ${\vec{V}}(t)({\vec{V}}$ = velocity of the center of mass), and the diffusion coefficient D. The g$_{cs}$(r)'s are almost equal irrespective of the change of Nc while g$_{cc}$(r) becomes larger as N$_c$ increases; The MD computed configurational properties < R$^2$2 > and < S$^2$ > were found to be a little different from the values calculated from the statistical equations of < R$^2$ > and < S$^2$ >, it may be due to the fact that our model for the MD simulations includes a long-range volume effect. From the < S$_i^2$ > / < S$^2$ >, it is found that the chain molecule has a nearly spherical shape irrespective of the variation of N$_c$. For the dynamic properties we found that the C(R$^2$;t) and C(S$^2$;t) of lower N$_c$ decay faster than those of higher N$_c$, while the C($\vec V$;t) of the center of mass in the chain is weakly dependent on the N$_c$. The center of mass diffusion coefficient D$_c$ decreases as N$_c$ increases while the end point diffusion coefficient D$_e$ is nearly equal irrespective of the change of N$_c$.

This study investigated the impact of accelerated carbonation on Ordinary Portland Cement(OPC) paste that had undergone steam curing at 500℃·hr. Two carbonation environments were examined: atmospheric carbonation(1atm, 20% CO2) and pressurized carbonation(5atm, 99% CO2). Chemical analysis using X-ray diffraction(XRD) and Fourier-Transform Infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR) were conducted, along with physical characterization via scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and compressive strength testing. Results indicated that atmospheric carbonation with 20% CO2 concentration significantly densified the internal microstructure of the OPC paste, leading to enhanced compressive strength. Conversely, pressurized carbonation at 5atm with 99% CO2 concentration resulted in rapid densification of the surface structure, which hindered CO2 diffusion into the sample. This limited the extent of carbonation and prevented the improvement of physical properties.

In this study, CNT functionalized with pyrrolidine ring via 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction with various amino acid and aldehyde was synthesized. Metallocene was subsequently immobilized on the functionalized CNT and CNT/polyethylene composite was prepared via in-situ ethylene polymerization. The polymerization activities of metallocene supported on CNT functionalized with glycine and benzaldehyde (Gly+BA-CNT) were similar to those of metallocene supported on CNT functionalized with N-benzyloxycarbonylglycine and paraformaldehyde (Z-Gly+PFA-CNT) although its Zr content was lower than that of Z-Gly+PFA-CNT. In the case of metallocene supported on Z-Gly+PFA-CNT, the even distribution of active sites hindered the diffusion of ethylene monomer and cocatalyst MAO due to steric hindrance during ethylene polymerization. Compared to polyethylene produced from homogeneous metallocene catalysts, CNT/PE composites had a higher initial degradation temperature ($T_{onset}$) and maximum mass loss temperature ($T_{max}$). It suggests that pyrrolidine functionalized CNT is uniformly dispersed and strongly interacted with the PE matrix, enhancing the thermal stability of PE.
Three failure cases of CNG composite vessels were reported since after January 2005. The 1st and 2nd accidents were indebted to vessel defect and installation mistake. The 3rd was caused by gas leak at pipe connections. In this paper various aspects were studied based on information of the three failure analysis, which must be improved for better safety of the CNG bus system. Overpressure region caused by vessel explosion was theoretically predicted and also assessed by PHAST program. Explosion of 120 l vessel under 20 MPa is equivalent to 1.2 kg TNT explosion. The predicted value by PHAST was more serious than theoretical one. However, actual consequence of explosion was much less than both of the predicted consequences. Since the CNG vessel was designed by the performance based design methodology, it is difficult to verify whether the required process and tests were properly conducted or not after production. If material toughness is not enough, the vessel should be weak in brittle fracture at early in the morning of winter season since the metal temperature can be lower than the transition temperature. If autofrettage pressure is not correct, fatigue failure due to tensile stress during repeated charging is possible. One positive aspect is that fire did not ocurred after vessel failure. This may be indebted to fast diffusion of natural gas which hindered starting fire.
In this paper, high temperature oxidation behavior of newly developed alloys, Ti-6Al-4Fe and Ti-6Al-1Fe, is examined. To understand the effect of Fe on the air oxidation behavior of the Ti-Al-Fe alloy system, thermal oxidation tests are carried out at $700^{\circ}C$ and $800^{\circ}C$ for 96 hours. Ti-6Al-4V alloy is also prepared and tested under the same conditions for comparison with the developed alloys. The oxidation resistance of the Ti-Al-Fe alloy system is superior to that of Ti-6Al-4V alloy. Ti-6Al-4V shows the worst oxidation resistance for all test conditions. This is not a result of the addition of Fe, but rather it is due to the elimination of V, which has deleterious effects on high temperature oxidation. The oxidation of the Ti-Al-Fe alloy system follows the parabolic rate law. At $700^{\circ}C$, Fe addition does not have a noticeable influence on the amount of weight gain of all specimens. However, at $800^{\circ}C$, Ti-6Al-4Fe alloy shows remarkable degradation compared to Ti-6Al-1Fe and Ti-6Al. It is discovered that the formation of $Al_2O_3$, a diffusion resistance layer, is remarkably hindered by a relative decrease of the ${\alpha}$ volume fraction. This is because Fe addition increases the volume fraction of ${\beta}$ phase within the Ti-6Al-xFe alloy system. Activities of Al, Ti, and Fe with respect to the formation of oxide layers are calculated and analyzed to explore the oxidation mechanism.
Generative AI services, including ChatGPT, were becoming increasingly active. This study aimed to empirically analyze the factors that promoted and hindered the diffusion of such services from a consumer perspective. Accordingly, a research model was developed based on the Value-based Adoption Model (VAM) framework, addressing both benefit and sacrifice factors. Benefits identified included usefulness and enjoyment, while sacrifices were security and hallucination. The study analyzed how these factors affected the intention to use generative AI services. A survey was conducted among college students for empirical analysis, and 200 valid responses were analyzed. The analysis utilized structural equation modeling with AMOS 24. The empirical results showed that usefulness and enjoyment had a significant positive impact on perceived value, while security and hallucination had a significant negative impact. The order of influence on perceived value was usefulness, hallucination, security, and then enjoyment. Perceived value had a significant positive impact on usage intention. Moreover, perceived value was found to mediate the relationship between usefulness, enjoyment, security, hallucination, and the intention to use generative AI services. These findings expanded the research horizon academically by validating the effectiveness of generative AI services based on existing models and demonstrated the continued importance of usefulness in a practical context.
