  • In order to examine cause-specific mortality in Korea by comparing mortality of Japan, various mortality indicators are calculated using 1995 of ficial statistics of twonations. The mortality measures are cause-specific mortality rate by sex, age, andmarital status, cause-specific age-standardized death rate and potential years of lifelost, and their ratios by sex and nation. Items of major causes of death include allcauses (total deaths),tuberculosis, malignant neoplasm, diabetes mellitushypertensive diseases, heart diseases, cerebrovascular diseases, liver diseasestransport accidents, and suicide. Major characteristics of mortality in Korea are asfollows . (1) Death rates from most causes except suicide are higher in Korea thanJapan and especially death rates from tuberculosis, hypertensive diseases, liverdiseases, and transport accidents are higher for economically active Koreans : (2)Death rates from tuberculosis, liver diseases, transport accidents, and malignantneoplasm are salient for Korean children (3) Sex-differentials in mortality fromliver diseases, tuberculosis , and transport accidents are large for economically activeKoreans, because male mortality is higher than female mortality : (4) Suicide ratesare lower for economically active males, and higher for females aged 10s and 20s inKorea than Japan : (5) Death rates are highest f3r divorced or widowed under 45years of age depending on causes, but death rates from all causes are highest fornever-married of the age 45 and over in Korea : and (6) Sex-differentials inmortality are greatest for widowed in Korea and for divorced in Japan.

  • This study is a descriptive research study to understand the level of communication awareness between doctors and nurses, who are professional medical professionals, and the detailed areas and satisfaction of communication. Data were collected from 372 doctors and nurses at general hospitals located in C city from March to May 2021. The collected data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, mean and standard deviation, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe test, and correlation analysis, using the SPSS/WIN 20.0 program. As a result, there was a difference in the awareness level of communication between doctor and nurse groups. Specifically, out of the detailed areas of communication recognized by doctors and nurses, there were statistically significant differences in openness(t=9.91), mutual understanding between occupations(t=5.25), and satisfaction(t=8.13) between the two groups. In addition, a positive correlation was found between the detailed areas and the communication satisfaction in both groups, showing that nurses have higher communication satisfaction with the higher openness(r=.72, p<.001), mutual understanding between occupations(r=.71, p<.001) and similarly, doctors also have higher communication satisfaction with the higher mutual understanding between occupations(r=.79, p<.001), timeliness(r=.73, p<.001). Therefore, these result suggest that it is necessary to develop a communication program that can effectively improve the weak areas such as mutual understanding between occupations and openness in nurses and doctors in order to ensure patient safety and provide quality medical care.

Accordingly, it is needed to expand and classify service qualities based on the various services provided by smartphone shopping malls, and then analyze path structures of smartphone shopping malls' qualities → customer satisfaction → behavioral intention. The purpose of this study is to categorize the qualities of smartphone shopping mall users based on the e-SERVQUAL by Lee(2002) and the SERVQUAL by Parasuraman et al.(1988, 2005), the smartphone shopping malls' service qualities based on service quality of smartphone shopping malls used in the previous use studies, and the Website quality factors of service industry and to analyze path structure of smartphone shopping mall's qualities → customer satisfaction → behavioral intention on college students in order to confirm the system of smartphone shopping malls' qualities. Research design, data, and methodology - This study's survey was carried out on the college students of university located in northeastern of Seoul. It was from December 7 - 15, 2017, and a total of 240 questionnaires were distributed, with 228 collected. Of them, effective questionnaires used in the final study were a total of 201 except 27 that couldn't be used. In this study, empirical analysis was done with factor analysis, correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis, simple multiple regression analysis and moderating regression analysis by using Statistics Package SPSS18.0. Results - The study results are as follows: First, smartphone shopping malls' qualities were classified into six categories like customer system quality, Web design quality, convenience quality, information-offering quality, service quality, and product quality. Second, it showed that system quality, Web design quality, and information-offering quality had a positive impact on customer satisfaction, respectively. Third, it suggested that quality factors of smartphone shopping mall users had a positive impact on customer satisfaction in the order of quality, information-offering quality, system quality and Web design quality. Finally, it showed that customer service quality, product quality, and convenience quality did not have a positive impact on customer satisfaction. In addition, it said that customer satisfaction of smartphone shopping mall users had a positive impact on behavioral intention and thereby, the higher the customer satisfaction was, the higher the relations between reuse intention and recommendation intention were. Meanwhile, moderating regression analysis showed that trust did not have moderating effect in the relations between customer satisfaction and behavioral intention. The above study revealed that smartphone shopping malls' qualities were classified into six categories and it was possible to generalize after empirical analysis was made in the path structure. Conclusions - Smartphone shopping mall users consider usefulness of obtaining shopping information and quality on quick and abundant shopping information more important than access environment of smartphone shopping malls and kind services of smartphone shopping mall managers. Thereby, smartphone shopping mall marketers need to take service qualities like system quality and information-offering quality into more consideration.

  • Purpose: Due to the stringency of regulations related to clinical research, researchers face various requirements in the Institutional Review Board (IRB) review process. Specifically, they encounter time constraints and administrative burdens. In order to cultivate a more favorable review culture and establish a robust research environment, it is necessary to analyze researchers' perceptions of the IRB review. Therefore, this study aims to assess researchers' overall experiences with the IRB and identify researchers' educational needs and demands for research-related policies. Methods: A semistructured questionnaire with 34 items was developed and refined in consultation with advisors from IRB and Human Research Protection Program (HRPP). The questionnaire was distributed via an online survey to researchers with experience in IRB review. The survey covered general characteristics, satisfaction with the IRB review process (rated on a 10-point scale), experiences with IRB review, HRPP policy demands. Results: The study's descriptive statistics revealed a moderate satisfaction level (average rating, 6.75 out of 10) with the IRB review. Researchers from clinical medicine and other disciplines showed similar satisfaction scores of 6.65 and 6.87, respectively. However, respondents with over 5 years of research experience expressed higher satisfaction (mean score, 7.03) compared to those with less experience (mean score, 6.57). Institutional support was emphasized for improving the IRB review process. Certain training topics generated higher demands for addressing frequently raised IRB issues among minor discipline researchers compared to clinical medicine (p=0.017). Conclusion: We conducted an analysis of researchers' perceptions regarding the IRB as well as their demands concerning educational and HRPP policies. It is imperative to address the pinpointed areas for enhancement and integrate a range of perspectives in order to effectively cultivate a robust research ethics culture and ensure comprehensive participant protection.

  • The study was intended to investigate elementary schoolers' oral health status according to whether the school have and manage an school oral health clinic or not in order to provide useful information for continuously developing the school oral health clinic 1,163 children in Hwasan elementary school in Hwasung city and 485 children in S elementary school in the same locality were selected as the experimental group and the control group, respectively, and orally examined from May 1st to 30th, 2004. The findings from the oral examination were as follows. 1. DMF rate was higher in the higher grades in both the groups. The rate was lower in the experimental group with 45.1% of the children than in the control group with 65.3% of the children. 2. DMFT rate also were higher as the grades were higher in both the groups. The ratio was lower in the experimental group with 30.4% of the children than in the control group with 44.6% of the children. 3. DMFT index was 1.0 in number in the experimental group and 1.6 in the control group. Index increase from the 1st grade to the sixth grade was also more positive in the experimental group. 4. DT rate was a little higher in the experimental group in the first graders, but comparatively decreased to the grades while increased in the control group. In the sixth graders, the rate was 42.4% in the experimental group and 87.7% in the control group, the former was less than the latter by about 50% point. 5. FT rate was a little higher in the control group for the first graders but increased in the experimental group to the grades. The rate in the sixth graders was higher by more than double in the experimental group. Based on the above findings, the region of the study had better oral health statistics than in other regions. The operation of school oral health clinics that provide dental health care to children at the right time seems to contribute to enhancing their dental health status by preventing against dental diseases and changing their relevant knowledge, attitude and behaviors. In the future, more school oral health clinics should gradually be prepared to push ahead with a sustained, extensive dental health project geared toward school-aged children. To make it happen, dental hygienists who are professional medical personnels should be taken advantage of, and in order to beef up the efficiency of preventive measures and oral health education, the best dental health care services should be offered by harnessing dental hygienists and dentists who work at public dental clinics run by local governments.

  • This research is a descriptive correlation research to examine the relationship among stress, coping behaviors, and perceived social support in school-age children. Students in third, fourth, and fifth grades at one elementary school in A metropolitan city were included for this research. A researcher of the study visited the elementary school and obtained appropriate approval to conduct this survey. Then, a total of 481 students answered the questionnaire; finally, the questionnaires of 409 students were analyzed after excluding 72 questionnaires due to unreliable responses. Descriptive statistics, T-test, ANOVA, and Pearson's correlation were used to analyze the collected data with SPSS 13.0. In the stress scores, academic stress was associated with the highest score ($9.30{\pm}4.41$). With respect to stress coping behaviors, lower-grade students showed to have significantly higher scores in coping behavior of pursuing social support than higher-grade students (F=3.181, p=.043); male students had higher scores in aggressive coping behavior than female students (t=-3.399, p=.001). Perceived social support scores were higher in the following order: family members ($33.01{\pm}7.61$), friends ($28.43{\pm}7.89$), and teachers ($25.71{\pm}6.30$). Female students had higher scores in perceived social support from friends (t=3.842, p=.000) and teachers (t=3.037, p=.003) than the male students. As the stress scores increased, passive coping behaviors (r=.410, p=.000) and aggressive coping behaviors (r=.445, p=.000) have been significantly increased. As perceived social support is higher, active coping behaviors (r=.455, p=.000) and coping behaviors to pursue social support (r=.429, p=.000) were significantly increased. Therefore, we can conclude that stress management is very significant for children. It would be necessary to develop nursing intervention programs in order to reduce the aggressive and passive coping behaviors of children and encourage perceived social support.

  • This study aims to examine the knowledge level of culinary staff members regarding the restaurant country- oforigin labeling system by developing a scale to investigate and evaluate such knowledge levels. The empirical study targeted culinary staff members with over 7 years of experience in 10 luxury hotels in Seoul who were approached through the convenience sampling method, which was conducted for 14 days from November 14th to 27th, 2014. A total of 192 self-administered questionnaires were collected, of which 186 questionnaires(93%) were used for the final analysis. For investigation and analysis, a frequency analysis was carried out to look into population statistics and the level of knowledge using the SPSS 18.0 statistics program. One-way ANOVA and t-test were carried out to investigate differences in knowledge levels of restaurant country-of-origin labeling system with reference to academic background, job position, and hotel management type. As the result, the average correct answer rate of the culinary staff members for a total of 21 questions was 39.85% and there were no significant differences based on the academic background. However, the correct answer rate was higher for respondents that held high positions and had independently managed hotels, suggesting that knowledge varied depending on job position and management type. In conclusion, it is suggested that in order to improve the level of knowledge of the restaurant country-of-origin labeling system among culinary staff members there is a need to enhance training and continuous supervision to apply the knowledge to work in future. In addition to this, this study discussed the limits of the study and the orientation of further research.
