  • Integral cryptanalysis, which is based on the existence of (higher-order) integral distinguishers, is a powerful cryptographic method that can be used to evaluate the security of modern block ciphers. In this paper, we focus on substitution-permutation network (SPN) ciphers and propose a criterion to characterize how an r-round integral distinguisher can be extended to an (r+1)-round higher-order integral distinguisher. This criterion, which builds a link between integrals and higher-order integrals of SPN ciphers, is in fact based on the theory of direct decomposition of a linear space defined by the linear mapping of the cipher. It can be directly utilized to unify the procedure for finding 4-round higher-order integral distinguishers of AES and ARIA and can be further extended to analyze higher-order integral distinguishers of various block cipher structures. We hope that the criterion presented in this paper will benefit the cryptanalysts and may thus lead to better cryptanalytic results.

  • Adaptive algorithms based on the higher order error criterion such as the LVCMS and the LMF show performance degradation if input signal contains additive noise with a heavier-tailed density. Conventional analysis often neglects higher order terms in the recursion and my not suit for prediction exact behavior of these higher order algorithms. This paper presents a new convergence analysis which contains all the higher order term in the recursion. The analysis shows that the higher order terms, which are often neglected, dose not affect the upper bound on the step size but the misadjustment. However, the effect decreases sharply proportional to the square of the step size.

  • The specimen materials used in this research are isotropic epoxy resins. The static photoelastic experiment was applied to them. And then the specimens used in photoelastic experiment were fractured under static load. The static photoelastic experimental hybrid method was introduced and its validity had been assured. Crack propagation criterion used the stress components, which are considered the higher order terms, obtained from the static photoelastic experimental hybrid method was introduced and it was applied to the minimum strain energy density criterion, the maximum tangential stress criterion and mode mixity. Comparing the actual initial angle of crack propagation with the theoretical initial angle of crack propagation obtained from the above failure criterions, the validities of the above two criterions are assured and the optimal distance (r) from the crack-tip is 0.01mm in order to get the initial angle of crack propagation of isotropic epoxy resin.

  • In this paper, we study complete Riemannian immersions into a semi-Riemannian warped product obeying suitable curvature constraints. Under appropriate differential inequalities involving higher order mean curvatures, we establish rigidity and nonexistence results concerning these immersions. Applications to the cases that the ambient space is either an Einstein manifold, a steady state type spacetime or a pseudo-hyperbolic space are given, and a particular investigation of entire graphs constructed over the fiber of the ambient space is also made. Our approach is based on a parabolicity criterion related to a linearized differential operator which is a divergence-type operator and can be regarded as a natural extension of the standard Laplacian.

  • The objective of this research was to evaluate the suitability of sigmoidal and firstorder kinetic equations for simulating the methane production from solid wastes. The sigmoidal kinetic equations used were modified Gompertz and Logistic equations. Statistical criteria used to evaluate equation performance were analysis of goodness-of-fit (Residual sum of squares, Root mean squared error and Akaike's Information Criterion). Akaike's Information Criterion (AIC) was employed to compare goodness-of-fit of equations with same and different numbers of parameters. RSS and RMSE were decreased for first-order kinetic equation with lag-phase time, compared to the first-order kinetic equation without lag-phase time. However, first-order kinetic equations had relatively higher AIC than the sigmoidal kinetic equations. It seemed that the sigmoidal kinetic equations had better goodness-of-fit than the first-order kinetic equations in order to simulate the methane production.

  • In this paper, when the initial propagation angle of a branched crack is calculated from the maximum tangential stress criterion (MTSC) and the minimum strain energy density criterion (MSEDC), it is essential that you use stress components in which higher order terms are considered and stress components at the position in a distance 0.005㎜ from the crack tip (=r). When an interfacial crack propagates along the interface at a constant velocity, the initial propagation angles of the branched crack are similar. to the mode mixities (phase angle) and the theoretical values obtained from MTSC and MSEDC. The initial propagation angle of the branched crack depends considerably on the stress intensity factor K$_2$.

  • Correntropy is a generalized correlation function that contains higher order moments of the probability density function (PDF) than the conventional moment expansions. The criterion maximizing cross-correntropy (MCC) of two different random variables has yielded superior performance particularly in nonlinear, non-Gaussian signal processing comparing to mean squared error criterion. In this paper we propose a new blind equalization algorithm based on cross-correntropy criterion which uses, as two variables, equalizer output PDF and Parzen PDF estimate of a set of randomly generated symbols that complies with the transmitted symbol PDF. The performance of the proposed algorithm based on MCC is compared with the Euclidian distance minimization.

  • Recently, as steel structures become higher and more long-spanned, application of high-strength steels is increasing gradually. However, criteria and example for design of high-strength steel are not built up. exiting criteria for structural steels is not proper for economical design of high-strength steel. Moreover, exiting criteria will be decrease the fatigue performance of steel bridge using high-strength steel. Therefore, criterion for application of high-strength steel must be established. In this paper, the behavior of plate girder using high-strength vertical stiffeners was clarified by carrying out layer elastic-plastic finite element analysis using finite deformation theory. In order to optimize the design and construction of plate girder using high-strength vertical stiffener, criterion for application of high-strength vertical stiffener is proposed.

  • AMOSC (Automatic Margin Of Safety Calculation) is a SW tool which has been developed to calculate the failure index of layered composite structures by referring to the cutting edge state-of-the-art LaRC05 criterion. The stress field is calculated by a finite element code. AMOSC allows the user to calculate the failure index also by referring to the classical Hoffman criterion (which is commonly applied in the aerospace industry). When developing the code, particular care was devoted to the computational efficiency of the code and to the automatic reporting capability. The tool implemented is an API which has been embedded into Femap Siemens SW custom tools. Then, a user friendly graphical interface has been associated to the API. A number of study-cases have been solved to validate the code and they are illustrated through this work. Moreover, for the same structure, the differences in results produced by passing from Hoffman to LaRC05 criterion have been identified and discussed. A number of additional comparisons have thus been produced between the results obtained by applying the above two criteria. Possible future developments could explore the sensitivity of the failure indexes to a more accurate stress field inputs (e.g. by employing finite elements formulated on the basis of higher order/hierarchical kinematic theories).
