Among many connection methods of reinforcing bar, the grout-filled splice sleeve system is very effective method of precast concrete construction due to its superior construction efficiency, such as large allowable limit to arrangement of reinforcing bars, good application of large sized reinforcing bars. In this study, totally 20 full-sited specimens were made and tested under monotonic and cyclic loading in order to extend the usage range of grout-filled splice sleeve system. The experimental variables adopted in this study are size of reinforcing bars embedded in upper and lower part of sleeve and compressive strength of filled mortar etc. After test was performed, the results were compared and analyzed with respect to previous test of author. Following main conclusions are obtained : 1) The structural performance of splice sleeve system is improved with increasing compressive strength of filled mortar. And also it was verified that the splice sleeve system with over 700 kgf/㎠ mortar compressive strength and over 6.54 development length of reinforcing bar retains the structural performance of over A class(AIJ Criteria). 2) In the case of using different size of reinforcing bars embedded in upper and lower part of sleeve, the result show that splice sleeve matching with large sized reinforcing bar must be used. And also up to 2 level smaller size of reinforcing bar compared to large reinforcing bar embedded in sleeve can be used.

While the Grouting has been used to reinforce the foundation of structures in wide range of application, there need complementary measures against problems such as pollution, durability, influence on the adjacent structures. Compaction Grouting, the injection of a very stiff, 'zero-slump' mortar grout under relatively high pressure, displaces and compacts soils. It can effectively repair natural or man-made soil strength deficiencies in variety of soil formations. In this paper, on the basis of the case history constructed in this year, a study has been performed to analyze the basic mechanism of the Compaction Grouting, Also, the effectiveness of the ground improvement and the bearing capacity of the Compaction Pile has been verified by the S.P.T and core strength.

The use of Compaction Grouting evolved in 1950's to correct structural settlement of buildings. Over the almost 50 years, the technology has been developed and is currently used in wide range of applications. Compaction Grouting, the injection of a very stiff, 'zero-slump' mortar grout under relatively high pressure, displaces and compacts soils. It can effectively repair natural or man-made soil strength deficiencies in variety of soil formations. Major applications of Compaction Grouting include densifying loose soils or fill voids caused by sinkholes, poorly compacted fills, broken utilities, improper dewatering, or soft ground tunneling excavation. Other applications include preventing liquefation, re-leveling settled structures, and using compaction grout bulbs as structural elements of minipiles or underpinning. In this paper, on the basis of the case history constructed in this year, a study has been performed to analyze the basic mechanism of the Compaction Grouting. Also, the effectiveness of the ground improvement and the bearing capacity of the Compaction Pile has been verified by the Cone Penetration Test(CPT) and Load Test. Relatively uniform Compaction grouting column could be maintained by planning the Quality Control in the course of grouting. And, the Quality Control Plan has been conceived using grout pressure, volume of grout and drilling depth.

Recently, pressure grouting is widely being used in construction site for strength improvement of ground and water proof, reinforcement and so on. It is necessarily required to estimate an appropriate injection pressure and injection time for economical and reasonable construction in the site through the size and shape of the hardened grout measured according to ground condition. However, sampling for the hardened grout is time-consuming and needs high cost on preliminary test in the site. The system which could predict the size and shape of the hardened grout does not exist until now. Thus, numerical method based on VOF method and porous model was used for the calibration chamber injection test with injection pressure (50 kPa, 100 kPa, 150 kPa) in this study. The results indicate that the numerical technique based on VOF method and porous model among CFD analysis is expected to be a basic study for the prediction of the behavior and solidification of pressure grouting.
The engineering characteristics of synthetic polymer-silica sol, which has the effect of reducing leakage, was evaluate and compared with typical grouting material, the water glass-based SGR injection material in this study. The result of the laboratory tests on strength and durability about the synthetic polymer-silica sol showed more than twice as high as LW-based injection materials in uniaxial compressive strength, significantly lower values in shrinkage rate and permeability. The result of pH was less than 8.5 (the drinking water quality standard). As a result of the leaching test, the Na2O elution amount of the synthetic polymer-silica sol was measured to be 3 to 4 times smaller than that of the water glass grout. These results be assumed that the synthetic polymer-silica sol has better durability and permeability than those of the typical water glass-based grout.

The purpose of this study is to improve the problems in Umbrella Arch Method, such as the oxidation, the difficulties in installation and cutting of the steel pipe. The applicability of the high strength FRP (Fiber-Reinforced-Plastic) materials composed of glass fiber as a substitute of steel pipe was investigated in this study. The results of this study show that FRP material is better than steel pipe in work performance and the durability of material except for its price. From the numerical analysis with various types of FRP, it was evaluated that the equiangular curve type is more efficient than the flat type developed abroad, and the supporting effect of FRP-grout mixture is similar to that of steel-grout mixture in results of bending strength test.
This paper presents the results of full-scale loading tests performed on 54 passive anchors and 4 group anchored footings grouted to various lengths at several sites in Korea. The test results, the failure mechanisms as well as uplift capacities of rock anchors depend mostly on rock type and quality, embedded fixed length, properties of the discontinuities, and the strength of rebar. Anchors in poor quality rocks generally fail along the grout/rock interfaces when their depths are very shallow (a fixed length of less than 1 m). However, even in such poor rocks, we can induce a more favorable mode of rock pull-up failure by increasing the fixed length of the anchors. On the other hand, anchors in good quality rocks show rock pull-up failures with high uplift resistance even when they are embedded at a shallow depth. Laboratory test results revealed that a form of progressive failure usually occurs starting near the upper surface of the grout, and then progresses downward. The ultimate tendon-grout bond strength was measured from $18{\sim}25%$ of unconfined compressive strength of grout. One of the important findings from these tests is that the measured strains along the corrosion protection sheath were so small that practically the reduction of bond strength by the presence of sheath would be negligible. Based on test results, the main parameters governing the uplift capacity of the rock anchor system were determined. By evaluation of the ultimate uplift capacity of anchor foundations in a wide range of in situ rock masses, rock classification suitable for a transmission tower foundation was developed. Finally, a very simple and economical design procedure is proposed for rock anchor foundations subjected to uplift tensile loads.

The study investigates the effects of the type, replacement ratio and method of use of mineral admixtures on the fluidity, bleeding ratio, volumetric change and compressive strength of the grout in order to provide basic data for the development of high-quality grout for PSC bridges. In view of the results relative to the type and replacement ratio of the mineral admixtures, it appears that fly ash has practically no effect on the improvement of the fluidity nor on the reduction of bleeding and shrinkage of the grout. On the contrary, blast furnace slag and silica fume appear to have significant effect on the improvement of the fluidity or on the reduction of bleeding and shrinkage of the grout. With regard to the combined use of mineral admixtures, the combination of fly ash and blast furnace slag provides satisfactory fluidity but with significant increase of bleeding and shrinkage, whereas the combination of blast furnace slag and silica fume reduces bleeding and shrinkage but with large loss of the fluidity. On the other hand, the combination of fly ash and silica fume results in satisfactory fluidity accompanied with fair reduction of bleeding and shrinkage of the grout. In view of these results, the type, replacement ratio and method of use of the mineral admixtures are seen to influence the fluidity, bleeding and volumetric change of the grout. Accordingly, it is necessary to select the mineral admixtures considering these effects for their exploitation in the grout of PSC bridges.
As the structure of broken rock mass is complex, with obvious discontinuity and anisotropy, it is generally necessary to reinforce broken rock mass using grouting in underground construction. The purpose of this study is to experimentally investigate the mechanical properties of broken rock mass after grouting reinforcement with consideration of the characteristics of broken rock mass (i.e., degree of fragmentation and shape) and a range of reinforcement methods such as relative strength ratio between the broken rock mass and cement-based grout stone body (λ), and volumetric block proportion (VBP) representing the volumetric ratio of broken rock mass and the overall cement grout-broken rock mass mixture after the reinforcement. The experimental results show that the strength and deformation of the reinforced broken rock mass is largely determined by relative strength ratio (λ) and VBP. In addition, the enhancement in compressive strength by grouting is more obvious for broken rock mass with spherical shape under a relatively high strength ratio (e.g., λ=2.0), whereas the shape of rock mass has little influence when the strength ratio is low (e.g., λ=0.1). Importantly, the results indicate that columnar splitting failure and inclined shear failure are two typical failure modes of broken rock mass with grouting reinforcement.
