  • Ten years have passed since my last visit to Korea on the occasion of the International Symposium on High Speed Rail Systems organized by the Korean Transport Institute in October 1989. At that time, it was the objective to introduce the maglev and VHSR (very high speed rail) systems with their different areas of application and to discuss them with local partners against the background of the Seoul-Pusan HSR project. Congratulations on the success of the Centennial seminar. I am much pleased to be invited to the memorable seminar and I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Korean members' hospitality.   • In this study, safety requirement & criteria for high-speed rail system were developed for safety verification as a national rules and regulations. Safety criteria were presented through analysis of high-speed rail development specification, survey of related regulations for safety requirements. and review of operation compatibility with domestic rail system. Finally, safety rule consist of system safety requirements and safety criteria for technical parts.

  • 본 논문에서는 기존 휠-레일 고속열차에 자기부상열차의 추진방법을 적용한 하이브리드 방식의 고속열차의 주행 동특성에 대해서 연구하였다. 초전도 선형동기전동기를 추진 동력으로 하는 휠-레일 방식의 고속열차는 강력한 추진력을 지니면서도 자기부상열차에 비해 기존 선로와의 호환성 및 경제성 측면에서 유리할 것으로 예상된다. 본 논문에서는 초전도 선형동기전동기를 기존의 휠-레일 고속철도에 적용하는 두 가지 방안에 대해서, 초전도 선형동기전동기 추진이 휠-레일 고속열차의 동특성에 미치는 영향을 살펴보기 위하여 초전도 선형동기전동기의 회전자와 고정자의 상호 작용을 검토하고 이를 포함한 차량의 동특성 모델을 구축하였다. 구축된 모델을 이용한 시뮬레이션을 통해 초전도 선형동기전동기의 회전자와 고정자의 상호 작용이 주행 중 고속 안정성, 승차감 및 가이드웨이 불규칙도에 미는 영향을 분석하였다.

  • The railroad is a means of large transportation which has many latents such as a safety and a regularity. That is a results from various confidential performance tests and evaluations of the system. The railroad system consist of various subsystems - vehicle, power supply, signal, communications, track structures, operations, etc. Among them, as an item of safety evaluation there is a measurement of wheel/rail force, so called a measurement of derailment coefficient. This is a very important item because a derailment of a train will bring about a big accident. Especially it is more important in high speed rail of which operation speed is over two times as fast as existing rail. In this paper, it is introduced to preprocess the wheelset for measuring wheel/rail force of high speed rail, such as to treat a measuring wheelset, its finite element analysis, adhesion of strain gauges and static toad test, running test result of main line.

  • 정부고속철도 건설계획이 1998년 IMF로 인하여 서울 시흥구간 및 대구$\sim$부산간은 기존 경부선을 이용하여 우선 개통하고, 2단계로 대구$\sim$부산구간을 신설 개통하는 것으로 변경됨에 따라 서울도심 입출구부인 서울$\sim$시흥구간은 고속열차, 일반열차 및 화물열차의 운용운행으로 일반열차 운행횟수 축소로 인한 서비스 저하, 고속철도 서비스 추가 어려움 등으로 동 구간의 신설확장에 대한 지속적인 필요성이 제기 되어 왔으며, 호남고속철도 또한 수서 출발을 위한 강남권 고속철도 건설계획이 경제성 등의 이유로 오송에서 분기하는 것으로 변경됨에 따라 강남권 및 경기남부지역 주민들의 고속철도 서비스혜택의 기회가 박탈되는 결과률 초래하였다. 경부고속철도 개통이후 국가교통체계가 고속철도 중심으로 변화하고 있고, 경부고속철도 2단계 개통, 경전선 및 전라선 복선전칠 완공, 2014년 호남고속철도 개통시 고속열차 추가수요가 발생하나, 서울$\sim$시흥구간의 선로용량 부족으로 고속열차 광명역 출발, 일반열차 운행횟수 축소 등의 파행적인 열차운영이 불가피하므로 이와 같은 문제점을 근본적으로 해소하기 위한 강북구간 (광명$\sim$화전) 의 선로확장과 더불어 강남구간 (수서$\sim$평택)의 고속철도 신설을 추진하여야 한다. 이에 따라 본 고찰에서는 수도권 고속철도 선로확충을 위한 효율적인 열차운영방안, 시설계획 등 고려 하여야 할 사항에 대하여 검토하고자 한다.

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest a method to support decision making of researchers, when we estimate the safety of the high-speed railway using F-AHP. To apply this method, Korean type of high-speed railway was engaged, and the 8 Stages of accident type and the five criteria were suggested that we must meet. Then, the interview with the researchers working for high-speed railway was used to confirm the alternatives suggested. The employed F-AHP for this study estimate using emotional words based on AHP of Saaty, so it is very good to estimate the high-speed railway safety.

  • 고속 전철 특징 중의 하나인 장대 레일의 사용으로 인하여 발생하는 추가 응력과 변위에 대하여 대만 고속전철 교량에 대해서 검토한다. 또한 대만 고속 전철 교량 시방 규정의 중요한 특징인 사용지진을 레일-구조물 해석에 고려하도록 하는 규정을 적용 후 단순교의 응력 및 상대변위를 검토한다. 지진 시 지반 운동을 고려하며, 단순교의 지진 응답을 변위로 레일-구조물 상호 작용 해석에 적용시킨다. 지진하중 고려 유무에 따른 단순교의 응력 및 상대 변위를 검토한다.

경부고속철도 건설에 따른 중심성측정식에 의한 국토동남권 공간구조 변화 ( On the Change in Spatial Structures of Southeast Region by Centrographic Measures in Accordance with Development of High-Speed Rail ( HSR ) )

  • The objective of this paper is to analysis & forecast on the change in spatial structures of southeast region by development of the Seoul-Pusan high-speed Rail. To measure the spatial structures, it was used the method of mean center and standard distance among of centrographic measures as analytical tools. The changes of spatial structures patten over time and space in the southeast region were surveyed using population and employment data of 57 zones. And also, to forecast the spatial structures of the southeast region after opening of the Seoul-Pusan high-speed rail, it was supposed three(3) scenarios which designed using influential area with centering around of the proposed high-speed rail stations. Therefore, the results of this research indicate as follows; 1) The spatial structures of population is showed a trend of continual concentration toward Ulsan city area, and also the spatial structures of employment is showed a trend of continual dispersion over time. 2) The forecast of three93) scenarios supposed after opening of the Seoul-Pusan high-speed rail in 2006 show a change of the spatial structures with both population concentration and employment dispersion. In the meantime, the rapid increase of population and wide dispersion of employment is reform with centering around HSR stations which builted in the southeast region after opening of high-speed rail. 3) It shall furnish valuable data to establish the development strategy of urban and local region, and also forecast the change of spatial structures about population and employment in influential area which passed on high-speed rail line & stations by method of mean center and standard distance among of centrographic measures as analytical tools.

  • Thermal expansion which occurs at the high speed rail joint is proportional to the free length from the point of fixity. This thermal expansion behaves similar to free expansion because the girder longitudinal stiffness is much larger than longitudinal resistance of rail pads. But the longitudinal displacement in the long rail is nominal because the longitudinal support condition of the girder is normally MFM(movable-fix-movable) system. Due to these girder expansion characteristics, there is longitudinal relative displacement at the rail pad and rail fastener spring which connects rail and girder. If the relative displacement between rail and girder is beyond the elastic limit for the rail pad, rail fastener system shall be applied using sliding fastener to prevent rail pad damage and fastener separation resulting from slip. On the other hand, train vertical vibration and tilting can occur due to the lack of fastener vertical force if the sliding fastener is applied at the girder joint. In the high speed rail bridge, vibration can occur due to the spring stiffness of the elastomeric bearing, also both vertical downward and upward displacement can occur. The elastomeric bearing vertical movement can cause rail displacement and finally the stability of the ballast is reduced because the gravel movement is induced.

A Study on the Measurement of Contact Force of Pantograph on High Speed Train

  • Appropriate upward force is crucial for the pantograph on high speed train to collect current from the catenery system without separation. However, at high speed, large aerodynamic lifting force is generated by the contact plate and the arms of pantograph, which may cause wear of the contact wire. In this study, to confirm the interface performance of the pantograph on Korea High Speed Train, a method to measure the contact force of the pantograph was proposed and the related measurement system was developed. The forces acting on the pantograph were clarified and a procedure to calculate the aerodynamic lifting force was proposed. A special device was invented and applied to measure the lifting force. Measured contact forces were displayed by the developed system and evaluated according to the criteria. Countermeasures were also taken to reduce the contact force based on the results.
