Carbon fiber epoxy composite materials are widely used in the structures of aircrafts, robots and other machines because of their high specific stiffness, high specific strength and damping. In order for the composite materials to be used in the robot structure or machine element, bearing mounting and joining surfaces must be provided, which require accurate machining. In this paper, the machinability and tool wear characteristics of the milling operation of the carbon fiber epoxy composite materials were experimentally measured. The tool wear mechanism and the Taylor tool wear constants were determined. Also, the surface roughness of milling operation was measured w.r.t. cutting speed and feed.
ZnS-$SiO_2$ composite is normally used for sputtering target. In recent years, high sputtering power for higher deposition rate often causes crack formation of the target. Therefore the target material is required that the sintered target material should have high crack resistance, excellent strength and a homogeneous microstructure with high sintered density. In this study, raw ZnS and ZnS-$SiO_2$ powders prepared by a 3-D mixer or high energy ball-milling were successfully densified by spark plasma sintering, the effective densification method of hard-to-sinter materials in a short time. After sintering, the fracture toughness was measured by the indentation fracture (IF) method. Due to the effect of crack deflection by the residual stress occurred by the second phase of fine $SiO_2$, the hardness and fracture toughness reached to 3.031 GPa and $1.014MPa{\cdot}m^{1/2}$, respectively.

In this paper, we manufactured Pb($Ni_{1/2}$$W_{1/2}$)$O_3$-Pb($Mn_{1/3}$$Nb_{2/3}$)$O_3$-Pb($Zr_3$Ti)$O_3$ceramics with variation of milling time and investigated its dielectric and piezoelectric properties. Density was increased with the increase of milling time because the sinterability of specimens were improved with the decrease of particle size. The highest value of electromechanical coupling factor was 0.518 at milling time 5hour. The highest values of mechanical quality factor and dielectric constant were 1566, 1590 at milling time 4hour, respectively.
Quartz (SiO2) is among the major rock-forming minerals in the earth's crust. The atomistic structures of SiO2 may evolve during diverse frictional processes. The reduction of friction of quartz-rock accompanied by its amorphization, hydration, and formation of silica gel provides mineralogical insights into earthquakes and related phenomena. Ball milling, together with rotary shear experiments have been useful to infer the atomic origins of such processes. In this study, optimal experimental conditions for ball milling for amorphization of SiO2 were determined by taking into account various process variables. The crystallinity of SiO2 gradually decreased and became amorphous as the ball milling time increased at a high milling speed. The degree of wear of the milling media and its effect on the amorphization of SiO2 were analyzed using distinct milling materials (zirconia, stainless steel). The amount of ball wear increased with increasing milling time. Furthermore, the worn stainless steel particles from balls tend to interact with amorphized SiO2 to form Si-O-Cr. These results aid in understanding the process of atomistic structural changes caused by ball milling of divserse materials with relatively high hardness, such as SiO2, and understanding various geological friction processes.

This study investigated crystal structures, microstructures, and electric-field-induced strain (EFIS) properties of Bi-based lead-free ferroelectric/relaxor composites. Bi1/2Na0.82K0.18)1/2TiO3 (BNKT) as a ferroelectric material and 0.78Bi1/2(Na0.78K0.22)1/2TiO3-0.02LaFeO3 (BNKT2LF) as a relaxor material were synthesized using a conventional solid-state reaction method, and the resulting BNKT2LF powders were subjected to high-energy ball milling (HEBM) after calcination. As a result, HEBM proved a larger average grain size of sintered samples compared to conventional ball milling (CBM). In addition, the increased sintering time led to grain growth. Furthermore, HEBM treatment and sintering time demonstrated a significant effect on EFIS of BNKT/BNKT2LF composites. At 6 kV/mm, 0.35% of the maximum strain (Smax) was observed in the HEBM sample sintered for 12 h. The unipolar strain curves of CBM samples were almost linear, indicating almost no phase transitions, while HEBM samples displayed phase transitions at 5~6 kV/mm for all sintering time levels, showing the highest Smax/Emax value of 700 pm/V. These results indicated that HEBM treatment with a long sintering time might significantly enhance the electromechanical strain properties of BNT-based ceramics.
Currently, a lot of efforts to make increases the manufacturing efficiency have tried and there is growing the interest to implementing the machining operation through CAM automation and optimization. This kind of movement has shown gradually in 5X milling as well as 3X milling task. By the way, in case of 5X milling, it is difficult to hire the CAM experts who is an experience for 5X machining and also it has too big trouble to use them due to high cost. For this reason, you can see the manufacturer who is concern the CAM S/W to provide the NC automation program that beginners can generate easily the 5X milling in short term and the existing 5X milling process can be improved. These requirements need to make a NC automation process including the practical machining strategies same as the generation by NC expert. In order to support this, it is necessary to directly apply the 3D machining part based on NC template which includes the machining procedures, standard cutter library, auto machine area selection, analyze tool for part shape, machining condition setting considering the material stiffness to be provided by CimatronE and it should be created the 5axis machining data by a minimized operation. With user-friendly, CimatronE's NC machining automation tools improve the 5-axis machining process and speed up the process, maximizing work efficiency and improving product productivity compared to existing machining tasks.

High speed milling process is emerging as an important fabrication process benefits include the ability to fabricate micro and meso-scale parts out of a greater range of materials and with more varied geometry. It also enables the creation of micro and meso-scale molds for injection molding. Factors affecting surface roughness have not been studied in depth for this process. A series of experiments has been conducted in order to begin to characterize the factors affecting surface roughness and determine the range of attainable surface roughness values for the high speed milling process. It has previously been shown that run-out creates a greater problem for the dimensional accuracy of parts created by high speed milling process. And run-out also has a more significant effect on the surface quality of milled parts. The surface roughness traces reveal large peak to valley variations. This run-out is generated by spindle dynamics and tool geometry. In order to investigate the relationship between tool setting errors and surface roughness end tilted mills were used to cut aluminum samples. The results indicate that tool setting errors have significant effects on surface roughness and cutting forces.
The effects of particle size distribution have been investigated on the high frequency low loss Mn-Zn fer-rites. The particle size distribution was controlled by milling time. Zirconia ball and engineering plastic jar were employed to avoid iron contamination from the milling media. As increasing the milling time BET value was increased from 0.55 to 3.21m2/g and mean particle size was decreased from 2.1 $\mu\textrm{m}$ to 1.0$\mu\textrm{m}$ The large specific surface area of initial powder resulted in the high density of sintered core. However starting powders with high BET lead to inhomogeneous grain growth as well as poor electromagnetic pro-perties at sintering temperature above 1300$^{\circ}C$.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze the milling characteristics of white rice depending on the guide angles of the cutting roller's induced guide, as well as to verify optimum milling conditions for the cutting-type milling machine. Methods: Brown rice, which was produced in Cheongju-si, Chungcheongbuk-do, Republic of Korea, in 2014, was used as the experimental material. The milling characteristics of white rice were measured under six different guide angle levels of the cutting roller, which were none, $0^{\circ}$, $5^{\circ}$, $10^{\circ}$, $15^{\circ}$, and $20^{\circ}$. The quantity of brown rice for each experiment was 500 kg, and the milling characteristics were measured according to the whiteness, rice temperature, cracked rice ratio, broken rice ratio, and energy consumption. Results: The whiteness of white rice maintained a uniform level, indicating at range of $38{\pm}0.5$, regardless of the cutting roller guide angles under all conditions. The rice temperature rise during milling was found to be rather low, at $13.9^{\circ}C$ and $13.6^{\circ}C$ at $10^{\circ}$ and $15^{\circ}$ guide angles, respectively. The cracked rice ratio after milling was 18.67%-19.47%, and the broken rice ratio was 0.68% at a $10^{\circ}$ guide angle, which is the lowest in comparison to other guide angles. Energy consumption was lower when the guide was used compared to that with-out the use of the guide. The energy consumption tended to increase as the cutting roller guide angle increased. Conclusions: From the above results, we conclude that the cutting roller guide angles of $0^{\circ}$ and $10^{\circ}$ are suitable for producing high quality rice during milling with a cutting-type milling machine.
