The N-acetylneuraminate lyase(NALase) from Escherichia coli was cloned and it was compared to that from Haemophilus influenzae and Clostridium perfringens. NALase from E. coli was expressed in very high level(about 6U/mg). The ManNAc Km value of three enzymes was almost the same. Pyruvate inhibited from H. influenzae was inhibited by GlcNAc in lower level than the others. The crude extract has about 30 times more activity than the cell for the substrate and product diffusion limit problem. The pH stability of three enzymes at pH 11 was also checked for its importance in the direct synthesis of Neu5Ac from GlcNAc and pyruvate at high alkaline condition.

In this paper, we develop a beamforming front end platform with pipeline circuit configuration method that can apply various clinical diagnostic applications of ultrasound image technology. Hardware design targets compression applications as well as scalable applications where power, integration levels and replication possibilities are important. Firmware design was implemented to achieve optimal FPGA parallel processing level by constructing new IP and system-oriented design environment to accelerate design productivity with maximum productivity improvement using Vivado HLS tool, which is a next generation high level synthesis tool. Former supports the high-speed management function of scan data that can create an image area arbitrarily and can be appropriately corrected and supplemented when reconfiguring or changing system specifications in the future.
For a time-multiplexed FPGA, a circuit is partitioned into several subcircuits, so that they temporally share the same physical FPGA device by hardware reconfiguration. In these architectures, all the hardware reconfiguration information called contexts are generated and downloaded into the chip, and then the pre-scheduled context switches occur properly and timely. Since the maximum number of the LUT's required in the same time determines the size of the chip used in the synthesis, it needs to be minimized, if possible. Many previous work use their own approaches, which are very similar to either scheduling method in high level synthesis or multi-way circuit partitioning method, to solve the problem. In this paper, we propose a method which estimates the lower bound on the number of LUT's without performing any actual synthesis. The estimated lower bounds help to evaluate the results of the previous work. If the estimated lower bound on the number of LUT's exactly matches the number of LUT's of the result from the previous work, the result must be optimal. In contrast, if they do not match, the following two cases are expected : the more exact lower bound may exist, or we might find the new synthesis result better than the result from the previous work. Experimental results show that our lower bound estimation method is very accurate. In almost al] cases experimented, the estimated lower bounds on the number of LUT's exactly match those of the previous synthesis results respectively, implying that the best results from the previous work are optimal as well as our method predicted the exact lower bound for those examples.

Reconfigurable array architecture is recently attracting much attention. It is a flexible hardware architecture, which can dynamically change its configuration to execute various functions while maintainning high performance. However, pursuing flexibility and performance at the same time leads to complexity, thereby makes the mapping of applications a difficult process. There have been attempts to use compiler or high level synthesis techniques to solve the problem. In this paper, we propose yet another method, which uses libraries for the mapping to provide an abstracttion of the internal structure and at the same time to reduce the development time and efforts through the automated process. We have selected a JPEG decoder as an example to apply the proposed method. As a result, we obtained about 20% less performance compared to manual mapping but development time is dramatically reduced to less than 1%.
Physiological changes of Escherichia coli during the fed-batch fermentation process were characterized in this study. Overall cellular protein samples prepared at the different stage of fermentation were separated by 2-dimensional gel electrophoresis (2-DE), and differently expressed 15 proteins, Phosphotransferase enzyme I, GroEL, Trigger factor, ${\beta}$ subunit of ATP synthase, Transcriptional regulator KDGR, Phosphoglycerate mutase 1, Inorganic pyrophosphatase, Serine Hydroxymethyl-transferase, ${\alpha}$ subunit of RNA polymerase, Elongation factor Tu, Elongation factor Ts, Tyrosine-tRNA ligase, DnaK suppressor protein, Transcriptional elongation factor, 30S ribosomal protein S6 were identified using matrix-assisted laser desorption / ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS). When bacterial cells grow to high cell density, and IPTG-inducible heterologous protein is produced, expression level of overall cellular proteins was decreased. According to their functions in the cell, identified proteins were classified into three groups, proteins involved in transport process, small-molecule metabolism, and synthesis and modification of macromolecules.

Cl\iAC model was proposed by Albus [6J to formulate the processing characteristics of the human cerebellum. Instead of the global weight updating scheme used in the back propagation, CMAC use the local weight updating scheme. Therefore, CMAC have the advantage of fast learning and high convergence rate.
In this paper, simulate Color Calibration by CMAC in color images and design hardware by VHDL-base high-level synthesis.

Various controllers such as proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controllers have been designed and optimized for load-following issues in nuclear reactors. To achieve high performance, gain tuning is of great importance in PID controllers. In this work, gains of a PID controller are optimized for power-level control of a typical pressurized water reactor using particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm. The point kinetic is used as a reactor power model. In PSO, the objective (cost) function defined by decision variables including overshoot, settling time, and stabilization time (stability condition) must be minimized (optimized). Stability condition is guaranteed by Lyapunov synthesis. The simulation results demonstrated good stability and high performance of the closed-loop PSO-PID controller to response power demand.
Type 2 diabetes is characterized by high level of blood glucose and insulin and impaired action. In recent years, the treatment of type 2 diabetes has been revolutionized with the advent of thiazolidinedione (TZD) class of molecules that ameliorate insulin resistance and thereby normalize elevated blood glucose levels. These TZDs are synthetic, high-affinity ligands of peroxisome proliferator activated receptor-gamma (PPAR${\gamma}$); a member of the nuclear receptor family that controls the expression of genes in the target tissues of insulin action. The influence of (-0-Hydroxycitrate(HCA), shown to be a competitive inhibitor of adenosine 5-triphosphate(ATP) citrate lyase, on food intake and body weight, serum triglyceride and cholosterol level, in vivo rates of fatty acid and cholesterol synthesis, and fat cell number and size was investigated. 3 groups of female, 5 weeks old Sprague Dawley rats, 8 animals each, were ad libitum meal-fed or pair-fed(3 hours from 10 : 00 to 13 : 00) AIN based high glucose diet for a total period of 8 weeks. Providing normolipidemic rats orally with 400mg of HCA formula containing approximately 20mg of HCA 1 hour prior to daily feeding schedule significantly depressed in vivo hepatic rates of fatty acid and cholesterol synthesis in the liver and adipose tissue. Serum triglyceride and cholesterol levels were significantly reduced by HCA. At the end of treatment period, the rats administered with HCA resulted in a significantly reduction in body weight gain. The reduction in weights was attributable to a significant decrease in fat cell size with a smaller extent, but not significant, reduction in fat cell number. Rats receiving HCA demonstrated less food intake than the controls ; however, this decreased caloric intake was not fully responsible for the HCA induced depression of hepatic and adipocytic lipogenesis, since experiment using pair-fed cojntrol rats showed, less magnitude but similar results. Both a anorectic and an antilipogenic properties of HCA seem to be responsible for this weight reduction activity of HCA. The outcome of this study suggest that metabolic regulation may be a feasible approach to the control of obesity and hyperlipidemia.
Lanthanides such as La, Gd and Ce have recognized as elements of high level radioactive wastes immobilized by forming solid solution with $CaTiO_3$. For easy forming solid solution between $CaTiO_3$and lanthanides, the combustion synthesis process was applied and the powder characteristics and sinterability were investigated. The proper selection of the type and the composition of fuels are important to get the crystalline solid solution of $CaTiO_3$and lanthanides. When glycine or the mixtures of urea and citric acid with stoichiometric composition was used as a fuel, the solid solution of $CaTiO_3$with $La_2O_3$or $Gd_2O_3$or $CeO_2$was produced very well by the combustion process. The combustion synthesized powder seemed to have a good sinterability with the linear shrinkage of more than 25% up to $1500^{\circ}C$, while that of the solid state reacted powder was less than 10% at the same condition.
