A VLSI array implementation of vector-radix 2-D fast DCT (Vector-radix 2차원 고속 DCT의 VLSI 어레이 구현)

  • An arry circuit is designed for parallel computation of vector-radix 2-D discrete cosine transform (VR-FCT) which is a fast algorithm of DCT. By using a 2-D array of processing elements (PEs), the butterfly structure of the VR-FCT can be efficiently implemented with high condurrency and local communication geometry. The proposed implementation features architectural medularity, regularity and locality, so that it is very suitable for VLSI realization. Also, no transposition memory is required. The array core for (8$\times$8) 2-D DCT, which is designed usign ISRC 1.5.mu.m N-Well CMOS technology, consists of 64 PEs arranged in (8$\times$8) 2-D array and contains about 98,000 transistors on an area of 138mm$^{2}$. From simulation results, it is estimated that (8$\times$8) 2-D DCT can be computed in about 0.88 .mu.sec at 50 MHz clock frequency, resulting in the throughput rate of about 72${\times}10^[6}$ pixels per second.

  • This paper deals with analysis of high frequency transformer for forward converter using the finite element method and circuit analysis. Finite element analysis considering magnetic nonlinearity of ferrite core and circuit analysis are utilized when converter switch(FET) is on and off, respectively. As a result, the primary current and load current of a forward converter are obtained under the various load conditions.

  • The power wteering system for automobiles is becoming core popular for supporting steering efforts of the drivers, especially for a parking lot maneuver. Though hydraulic power steering has been widely used for a long time, the efficiency of that is not high enough. The motor driven power steering system can solve the problems associated with the hydraulic power steering system. In this study, dynamic model and control algorithm of the ball screw type of MDPS systenem have been derived and analysed by using the method of discrete modeling technology. To improve steering feel and power steering characteristics, the additional scheme is proposed to the conventional power boosting control algorithm. Through simulations, control gain effects to the steering angle gain in the frequency domain were verified. The steering returnability and steering torque phase lag in on-center handing test were performed also.

  • The frequency range of a radio wave is from 3kHz to 300GHz, and radio technologies use this range to improve the quality of human lives. Radio technologies have entered a new phase of communication. The core infrastructure used as the basis for technologies leading the fourth industrial evolution, such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, autonomous cars/drones, augmented reality, robots, and remote medical diagnoses, is the 5G network. The 5G network enables transmitting and receiving large amounts of data at very high speed. In particular, application technologies with artificial intelligence have been studied, including radar, wireless charging, electromagnetic devices and their effects on humans, EMI/EMC, and microwave imaging. In this study, we present a future radio technology that is needed to prepare for the upcoming industrial revolution and digital transformation.

  • 본 논문에서는 임베디드 시스템을 이용하여 물품관리에 응용할 수 있는 시스템을 설계 및 구현하고자 한다. 현재 활발하게 연구 발전하는 임베디드 시스템과 빠르게 보급되고 있는 무선랜을 이용하여 설계하였으며. 시스템 구성은 RFID(Radio Frequency IDentification)와 무선랜이 가능한 관리 단말기, 모바일 장비인 휴대폰과 PDA 그리고 중앙 관리 시스템으로 이루어졌다. 대량 물품관리 시스템의 사례로 대형 중고자동차 관리 시스템을 선택하였다. 하드웨어는 MPC860CPU 50MHz를 갖춘 XN860Core보드 및 Access Point는 AVAYA AP-1을 사용하였으며, 임베디드 시스템의 운영체제는 HardHat Linux2.0JE를 사용하였다. 중고자동차 관리시스템은 관리에서 영업까지 필요한 기능을 구현할 수 있도록 설계하였으며 향후 다른 분야로 응용할 수 있음을 보인다.

  • A voice-coil-type LOA consists of the NdFeB permanent magnets with high specific energy as the stator, a coil-wrapped nonmagnetic hollow rectangular structure, and an iron core as a pathway for magnetic flux. When applying a voice-coil-type LOA to the control system, we have to obtain the control parameters and circuit parameters, such as mass, coil inductance, coil resistance, thrust voltage & stroke, frequency & stroke and so on. Therefore, these parameter were determined from the analytical and experimental method.

  • In this project, we hale developed various techniques for subminiaturization, surface implementation, high frequency design, small-size SMD, performance test and application of the Dual PLL module, which is a core component for the personal communication systems. We also obtained base techniques for the next-generation Dual PLL module design and fabrication techniques for an internationally competitive subminiature Dual PLL module.

  • Inductance is an important parameter determining the characteristics of current waveform in electric motors. There are many kinds of inductances, however, self and mutual inductances are the major components. These inductances are changed under the variation of the magnetic circuit, current, frequency etc., even in the same winding distribution. Therefore this paper deals with the characteristics of inductance according to the shape of stator tooth. The analysis model is newly developed motor made of SMC(Soft Magnetic Composite) to reduce the core loss in high speed. the result of this paper gives the basic understandings of inductance to extend the applications of the motors.

  • Linear motor damper(LMD) for vibration control of structure is consisted of the NdFeB permanent magnets with high specific energy as the stator, a coil-wrapped nonmagnetic hollow rectangular structure and an iron core as a pathway for magnetic flux. The active mass of LMD is 1.5 ton and consisted of permanent magnet and iron yoke. In this paper, LMD system is manufactured and tested for dynamic characteristics and frequency response.
