Current Measurement and Velocity Spatial Distribution of Deep Ocean Engineering Basin

  • To ensure the international competitiveness of the domestic offshore plant industry, a consensus has been formed regarding the requirement for large offshore basins for performing offshore plant performance verification. Accordingly, the Korea Research Institute of Ships & Ocean Engineering has built the world's largest deep ocean engineering basin (DOEB). The purpose of this study is to evaluate the characteristics of velocity distribution under various conditions of the DOEB. An independent measuring jig is designed and manufactured to measure the current velocities of many locations within a short time. The measurement jig is a 15-m-high triangular-truss structure, and the measurement sensors can move 15 m vertically through an electric motor-wire device. The current speed is measured under various impeller revolutions per minute and locations of the DOEB using the jig. The spatial distribution characteristics of the current velocity in the DOEB and the performance of the current generator are analyzed. The maximum speed is 0.56 m/s in the center of the DOEB water surface, thereby confirming sufficient current velocity distribution uniformity for model testing.

해수 염기 침투방지를 위한 성능개선 형 물배출 앵커 및 트랩볼트 개발에 관한 연구 (Developing an improved water discharge anchor & trap bolt to prevent basic salt penetration to harbor structures)

  • 노후된 철근콘크리트 항만 구조물을 보수보강하기 위한 기존의 공법 대부분은 염기침투와 균열발생을 막기 위한 목적으로 개발되었으며 슬래브나 보 하부를 섬유복합체나 섬유복합체 패널로 벽지 바르듯 빈틈없이 접착시키는 공정으로 이루어져 있다. 하지만 이런 공법들은 섬유제품의 밀폐성 때문에 항만구조물 상부에서 유입되는 빗물 등의 수분을 외부로 배출시키지 못한다. 배출되지 않은 물은 보수보강 부위를 물통역할을 하게 되어 슬래브나 보의 피복콘크리트 전체를 탈락시키는 문제를 발생케 한다. 이에 본 연구진은 선행연구에서 콘크리트 구조물 내부로 유입된 수분을 배출하는 물배출 앵커 및 트랩볼트를 개발하였다. 하지만 앵커볼트의 매입부분의 수분은 배출되지 않아 잔류수분 문제가 발생하였다. 본 연구에서는 이런 잔류수분 문제를 해결하기 위해 기 개발된 물배출 앵커 및 트랩볼트 측면에 홀을 추가로 천공하는 여러 대안을 제시하였다. 또한 보수보강 현장에서 물배출 앵커를 적용할 경우 앵커의 설계하중 적용을 위해 인장강도시험, 인발강도시험을 수행하였고, 배수성능시험을 통해 최적의 성능개선 형 물배출 앵커 및 트랩볼트를 개발하였다.

Solenoid 형태의 소형.고성능 RF Chip 인덕터에 대한 연구 (A Study of Micro, High-Performance Solenoid-Type RF Chip Inductor)

  • In this work, small-size, high-performance simple solenoid-type RF chip inductors utilizing an Al2O3 core material were investigated. Copper (Cu) wire with $40\mum$ diameter was used as the coils and the size of the chip inductor fabricated in this work was $2.1mm\times1.5mm\times1.0mm$. The external current source was applied after bonding Cu coil leads to gold pads electro-plated on each end of backsides of a core material. High frequency characteristics of the inductance (L), quality factor (Q), and impedance (Z) of developed inductors were measured using an RF Impedance/Material Analyzer (HP4291B with HP16193A test fixture). This HP4291B was also used to obtain the equivalent circuit and its circuit parameters of the chip inductors. The developed inductors have the self-resonant frequency (SRF) of 1.1 to 3.1 GHz and exhibit L of 22 to 150 nH. The L of the inductors decreases with increasing the SRF. The Z of the inductors has the maximum value at the SRF and the inductors have the quality factor of 70 to 97 in the frequency range of 500 MHz to 1.5 GHz.

무선통신시스템을 위한 극소형 RF 칩 인덕터의 개발 (Development of Microscale RF Chip Inductors for Wireless Communication Systems)

  • 본 논문에서는 고성능의 극소형, 솔레노이드 형태의 RF 칩 인덕터를 연구하였다. 제작된 RF 칩 인덕터의 크기는 1.0×0.5×0.5㎣ 이었다. 코아의 재료 (96% Al₂O₃)와 모양 (I-type)은 인덕터의 성능을 극대화시키도록 Maxwell three-dimensional field simulator를 이용하여 결정되었다. 40㎛의 직경을 가진 가는 구리(Cu)도선을 코일로 사용하였다. 개발된 인덕터의 인덕턴스 (L), 품질계수 (Q), 그리고 커패시턴스 (C) 들에 대한 고주파 특성은 RF 임피던스/재료 분석기 (HP16193A 시험 fixture가 장착된 HP4291B)를 사용하여 측정되었다. 개발된 인덕터들은 230MHz - 1 GHz의 주파수 영역에서 11 - 39 nH 범위의 인덕턴스 값과 28 - 50 범위의 품질계수 값을 가지는데 이는 전 세계적으로 가장 좋은 칩 인덕터 업체 중의 하나인 CoilCraft/sup Tm/에 의해 생산된 인덕터들의 특성과 유사한 결과를 나타내고 있다. 시뮬레이션 데이터는 개발된 인덕터의 L, Q, C 등의 고주파 특성을 잘 예측하고 있다.

Stabilizer-free 초전도 선재를 이용한 한류 소자 제작 및 특성 시험 (Fabrication and characterization of fault current limiting devices made of stabilizer-free coated conductors)

  • For the application of superconducting wires to fault current limiting devices, it is required that they have a high rated voltage when a fault occurs. Stabilizer-free coated conductors, particularly, shows a good performance for the high rated voltage, which is beyond 0.6 V/cm. In this study, using the stabilizer-free coated conductors, we made fault current limiting devices and examined their characteristics. Fault current limiting devices were fabricated with a shape of the cylinder of a mono-filar coil winding. Stabilizer-free coated conductors were wound along the mono-filar coil line and the terminal parts between the wire and metal were soldered using In solder. Two kinds of devices were fabricated by a different method in the terminal joint, one was made by a soldering and the other was made by a soldering-free joint. Critical currents and resistance at the joint parts were measured. In addition, long-time current flowing tests were also carried out for the characterization of the fault current limiting devices.

마이크로 스프링 구조를 갖는 121 pins/mm2 고밀도 프로브 카드 제작기술 (Development of 121 pins/mm2 High Density Probe Card using Micro-spring Architecture)

  • Recently, novel MEMS probe cards can support reliable wafer level chip test with high density probing capacity. However, manufacturing cost and process complexity are crucial weak points for low cost mass production. To overcome these limitations, we have developed micro spring structured MEMS probe card. For fabrication of micro spring module, a wire bonder and electrolytic polished gold wires are used. In this case, stringent tension force control is essential to guarantee the low level contact resistance of micro spring for reliable probing performance. For this, relation between tension force of fabricated probe card and contact resistance is characterized. Compare to conventional probe cards, developed MEMS probe card requires fewer fabrication steps and it can be manufactured with lower cost than other MEMS probe cards. Also, due to the small contact scratch patterns, we expect that it can be applied to bumping types chip test which require higher probing density.

  • In this paper, we propose quality of service mechanisms for flow-based routers which have to handle several million flows at wire speed in high-speed networks. Traffic management mechanisms are proposed for guaranteed traffic and non-guaranteed traffic separately, and then the effective harmonization of the two mechanisms is introduced for real networks in which both traffic types are mixed together. A simple non-work-conserving fair queuing algorithm is proposed for guaranteed traffic, and an adaptive flow-based random early drop algorithm is proposed for non-guaranteed traffic. Based on that basic architecture, we propose a dynamic traffic identification method to dynamically prioritize traffic according to the traffic characteristics of applications. In a high-speed router system, the dynamic traffic identification method could be a good alternative to deep packet inspection, which requires handling of the IP packet header and payload. Through numerical analysis, simulation, and a real system experiment, we demonstrate the performance of the proposed mechanisms.

A Study on the Trolley Sliding Condition Inspection System

  • The Korean electric railway is growing rapidly such as speed of 300km/h in high speed section and 230km/h in the conventional railway section. But, power supply failure occurs because of loss of contact, defective catenary system and high speed vehicle. Therefore preventive maintenance way based reliability has been applied. Typical example is the facility inspection method using trolley inspection system. But it is required differentiated inspection method to prevent problem such as inspection errors. In this paper, a study on the trolley sliding condition inspection system using monitoring techniques is performed for performance enhancement of inspection system. It proposed the efficient maintenance method through monitoring the deviation and height of contact wire after installing inspection system on the top of train which operates in the metropolitan area. Inspection errors were decreased by virtually monitoring the video of faulty facilities. Also those facilities were identified through the impact sound analysis and tests at the main catenary section.

  • In the field of construction work, a shackle is one of the most essential tools to build up a structure on the foundation. The old-style process, 3 construction crew climbs up the beam to release it from the shackle, is hazardous and very inefficient. For this reason, the auto shackle controller with two shackles, which can release the beam through a wire-less command, was developed. The auto-shackle controller makes the work safer and more efficient. However, the early auto-shackle controller itself was heavy and had some sorts of problems in safety and durability. Recently, the high efficient battery was developed. It makes develope a super miniaturized high performance auto shackle controller. In this paper, we analyze problems of early auto shackles and present the latest result of a super miniaturized auto-shackle controller.

중온 작동 범위에서의 슬랩윅 히트파이프 성능에 관한 실험 연구 (An Experimental Study of a Slab Wick Heat Pipe for Medium-high Operating Temperatures)

  • A slab-wick heat pipe was fabricated and tested for applications where the condenser temperature is in a range of 80 to 12$0^{\circ}C$. The pipe material was 9.53 mm O.D. copper tube and the working fluids were ethanol and water. The total length of the heat pipe was 1.6 m, in which evaporator section was 1.4 m and the condenser was 0.10 m. The slab was a composite wick structure fabricated with STS316 wire screens. Thermal load was varied for a specified fill charge ratio and inclined angle. The optimum fill charge ratio was identified to be 110% based on a theoretical calculation of the pore space in the slab wick of the heat pipe. The maximum thermal load was 120W for ethanol and the same was 200W for water with the condenser temperature of 8$0^{\circ}C$. The thermal performance of the slab wick heat pipe is analysed in terms of temperature characteristics and thermal resistance against thermal load, tilt angle and fill charge ratio.
