고지방식이를 섭취한 마우스에서 느티만가닥버섯의 항비만 효과 (Anti-obesity Effect of Hypsizigus marmoreus in High Fat-fed Mice)

  • 본 연구는 느티만가닥버섯의 항비만 효과를 알아보기 위해 4주령된 C57BL/6 수컷 쥐를 30마리를 1주일간 적응시킨 후, 정상식이군, 고지방식이군, 5% 느티만가닥버섯 분말 첨가 식이군으로 나누어 8주간 실시하였다. 체중 및 체중증가량은 고지방식이군에서 유의적으로 증가하였으며, 느티만 가닥버섯 분말 첨가 식이군에서 감소하였다. 간 및 지방조직의 무게도 고지방식이군에 비하여 느티만가닥버섯 처리군에서 낮았다. 고지방 식이에 의한 혈청 중 총콜레스테롤, 인슐린 및 렙틴 수준 증가는 느티만가닥버섯 분말 섭취로 인하여 낮아졌다. 또한, 간 중 지질 함량도 느티만가닥버섯 분말 첨가군에서 감소하였다. HE staining으로 관찰한 간내 지방축적과 지방세포의 크기도 느티만가닥버섯 분말 첨가 식이군에서 현저히 감소하였다. 부고환 지방조직에서 관찰한 지방생성 관련 유전자인 $PPAR{\gamma}$, SREBP-1c, SCD-1의 단백질 발현은 고지방식이군과 비교 시, 느티만가닥버섯 분말첨가 식이군에서 억제되었다. 이상의 실험결과, 고지방 식이와 함께 공급한 느티만가닥버섯 분말은 체중 감소 및 체지방 축적 억제와 더불어 혈청 지방 수준 개선에도 긍정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.

초.중.고 국어교과서에 나타난 농업.농촌 다원적 기능 교육 내용 분석 (Content Analysis on Rural Multi-Functionality Published Language Textbooks in Elementary.Middle.High School)

  • The objective of this study is to promote alternative plans on the prejudiced and distorted parts in school textbooks in the aspect of multi-functionality of agriculture and rural community. This was done through analysis of the contents in 44 kinds of schoolbooks in Korean language (30 of elementary school, 12 of middle school and 2 of high school). This will lead to promote the understanding about the multi-functionality and form the proper value system related to agriculture and rural community for children and juveniles using schoolbooks. A content analysis which is a research tool to classify all contents of materials containing the properties to become the object of interest in a systematic way, was employed to examine to what extent the contents on agriculture and rural community were reflected in the textbooks for elementary school, middle school and high school. The content analysis was done in two categories, namely; application method and function view. Application method had four types of texts, cases, figures pictures, and activities, while function view emphasized the relevance for the multi-functionality of agriculture and rural community (i.e., function of environment preservation, function of rural scenery and rural traditional culture conservation, function of maintenance and development of local society, and function of food security). The results of application method in elementary school showed that the textbook of the second-year class having a large amount of figures pictures related to agriculture and rural community, had the highest frequency in all six grades. In the function view, the environment preservation function was most abundant among a variety of multi-functionalities. In middle school, the average frequency had shown a rapid decrease. However, the function of environment preservation in the function view and the texts by application method were most frequent. in the first-year class. In high school, however, any mention related to agriculture and rural community was not made, in spite of the fact that the ten parts of textbook contained a lot of contents with a reasonable level. Based on the results of content analysis, findings and recommendations by part in textbooks for elementary school, middle school and high school have been drawn, and several examples for the content development to be included in the textbooks were listed.

새로운 천연염재로서 메타쉐콰이어 열매의 활용(3): 모섬유의 염색성과 항균성을 중심으로 (Utilization of Metasequoia(Metasequoia glyptostroboides) Cone as a New Natural Dye Resource(3): Dyeing Properties and Antimicrobial Functionality of Wool Fiber)

  • The objective was to investigate the efficacy of Metasequoia(Metasequoia glyptostroboides) cone colorants as a new functional dye for wool fiber. Effects of dyeing conditions and mordanting on dye uptake, color change, and colorfastness were investigated for wool fiber. Compared with cotton and silk fibers, wool fiber showed better affinity for the Metasequoia cone colorants. Fe and Cu mordants improved dye uptake, and mordanting did not change the color of dyed fabric with YR Munsell color. Colorfastness to rubbing and washing was as good as grade 4, whereas lightfastness of the dyed fabrics was above grade 3. Antimicrobial activity of the colorants was very high 99.3% of reduction rate toward S. aureus. It was confirmed that Metasequoia cone colorants can be utilized as a new functional natural dye for wool fiber. In addition, considering its high antimicrobial functionality it could be applied to cosmetics and food.

Design of Real-Time CAN Framework Based on Plug and Play Functionality

  • Nowadays most vehicles are equipped with a variety of electronic devices to improve user convenience as well as its performance itself. In order to efficiently interconnect these devices with each other, Controller Area Network (CAN) is commonly used. However, the CAN requires reconfiguration of the entire network when a new device, which is capable of supporting both of transmission and reception of data, is added to the existing network. In addition, since CAN is based on the collision avoidance using address priority, it is difficult that a new node is assigned high priority and eventually it results in transmission delay of the entire network. Therefore, in this paper we propose a new system component, called CAN coordinator, and design a new CAN framework capable of supporting plug and play functionality. Through experiments, we also prove that the proposed framework can improve real-time ability based on plug and play functionality.

  • This paper introduces the key features of NCS (Network based Control System), which is quite a new concept in the industrial automation market. Two control systems "DCS" and "PLC" have been recognized as control systems used for process and factory automation during the past decades. However, the market requires more complex functionality, such as monitoring and operation, alarm handling and notification from remote locations using the Web or e-mail. Besides enhancing functionality, interoperability between each device and system is highly required since network and engineering tools provided by many vendors do not cooperate with each others, so that lots of conversion, reconfiguration and reprogramming are required when expanding systems. NCS can meet this requirement, installing leading-edged IT technology using international standards for network and engineering environment. NCS, which is a harmony of web functionality, networkability and a reliable control function, enables information integration and responding to the market's requirements with agility and high reliability.

Antioxidative Activities of Korean Apple Polyphenols

  • The antioxidative activity and the polyphenolic composition were examined in four different cultivars of apple (Malus domestica), 'Fuji', 'Tsugaru', 'Hongro' and 'Kogetsu', and their parts (peel, core, pulp and juice). The total phenolics, flavonoids and anthocyanins differed among the tested cultivars and parts. Peel parts had the highest total phenolics and anthocyanin content. Contributions of those phenolics to total antioxidative activity were determined using 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and 2,2'-azinobis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS) radical scavenging assays, and the linoleic acid oxidation assay. Concentration of phenolics contributes significantly to the total antioxidative activity of apples. Clearly, apple peels, especially from Hongros and Kogetsus, possess high levels of phenolic compounds and antioxidants. Therefore, apple peels may potentially function as a value-added ingredient.

기능성 향상 치즈 개발 연구 (Development of Functionality in Cheese)

  • Cheese is a nutritious food with various balanced nutrients, such as proteins, peptides, amino acids, fats, fatty acids, vitamins and minerals. Domestic cheese varieties and quality need to be improved to prevent imported cheese. To develop those cheeses, search for previous works and research for new products are needed. In cheese ripening of hard cheese, such as Cheddar or Parmesan cheese, is ripened for 2 to 24 months at 2 to 16$^{\circ}C$ to develop desired cheese flavor and body characteristics. Long time with low temperature to ripen the cheese requires high expenses. So accelerated cheese ripening is a good potential for saving in industry. Methods for acceleration of cheese ripening are temperature control, addition of bacteria or enzymes. To develop the functionality of cheese, addition of microencapsulated various probiotics and nutrients, such as iron, removal of cholesterol by crosslinked ${\beta}$-cyclodextrin, lowering blood cholesterol and serum glucose by nanopowdered functional materials et al. are necessary. Therefore, this review focused on the functionality of cheese, such as the acceleration of cheese ripening, microencapsulated probiotics and iron, and cholesterol removal.

SOA 기반 소프트웨어의 기능성 평가 모델 개발 (Development of Functionality Evaluation Model for SOA based Software)

  • 현재 SOA 기반 소프트웨어의 중요성이 인식되면서 국내외 SOA 기반 소프트웨어 시장이 급격히 증가하고 있는 추세이다. 이에 따라 SOA 기반 소프트웨어에 대한 고신뢰성과 고품질 소프트웨어의 요구가 증대되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 SOA 기반 소프트웨어의 기능성 품질을 평가하기 위해 품질을 시험하여 측정하고 그 결과를 적절한 기준에 따라 판정하는 방법에 대해 연구를 수행하고 평가 사례를 제시하여 평가 방법을 명확히 제시하였다. 본 연구를 통해 SOA 기반 소프트웨어의 기능성 품질 향상을 유도하고 국제 표준을 수용하는 전략기술 개발을 통해 객관성과 활용도를 높일 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

약선(藥膳)의 과학적 원리를 통한 상주곶감 소비촉진 방안 연구 (A Study on Promoting the Consumption of Sangju-Dried Persimmons as Functional Food through Scientific Inquiry)

  • Sangju, a city in the North Gyeongsang Province, is well known as "Three Whites", representing its three main agricultural products: rice, silkworm, and dried persimmons. Therefore, development of a variety of dishes or products that can promote the consumption of dried persimmons is an urgent requirement for this region. This study was designed to provide fundamental information for revitalizing community-based specialized agriculture through scientific inquiry into medicinal foods and to develop a medicinal food menu based on the results of previous research and pre-survey. The pre-survey results and incompatibility revealed that palatability influenced people's decision to consume dried persimmons far more than pharmacological functionality. Therefore, palatability played an important part in the development of dried persimmon puddings with acceptable texture. These dishes are in high demand as they suit the tastes of variety of consumers. The inclusion of various additives lowered the sugar content in the developed foods and made the products alkalescent (pH > 7), thereby improving functionality. Unique color and flavor additives were also important criteria that determined the selection attributes of the developed medicinal foods. In addition, the additives had a positive effect on the fragrance and texture of the foods. In conclusion, the results suggested that use of additives provides significant advantages in promoting the consumption of Sangju-dried persimmons by improving both functionality and palatability.

한의학 전통 지식 데이터베이스 관리 시스템 현황 (Currently Provided Database Management System of Traditional Korean Medical Knowledge)

  • Objectives: The objective of this study is to investigate and valuate currently provided database management systems (DBMS) of traditional Korean medical knowledge. Methods: We searched DBMS on the web and smart device application markets (Apple App Store and Google Play Store). Key words for searching were 'traditional medicine', 'acupuncture', 'moxibustion', 'herbal medicine', and '한의학'. We looked into each DBMS to find out its scopes and limits, and each was valuated according to its functionality, accessibility, and utility. Results: 186 DBMS of traditional Korean medical knowledge were investigated and 91% of them were applications for smart devices. Almost all DBMS provided acupuncture and herb information, and a small amount of DMBS provided prescription and research paper information. Functionality, accessibility, and utility valuation were performed by using scoring system from 0 to 2. Mean values of functionality, accessibility, and utility were 0.86, 1.29, and 1.09. Conclusions: On the whole, high accessibility and low functionality were found, and various data-calculating functions were not implemented. Further researches and developments about traditional Korean medical knowledge DBMS are necessary to provide correct traditional Korean medical information and to support the studies about Korean medicine.
