미세조직적 인자가 밀소둔된 Ti-6Al-4V 합금의 피로 및 피로균열전파 거동에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Microstructural Factors on Fatigue and Fatigue Crack Propagation Behaviors of Mill-Annealed Ti-6Al-4V Alloy)

  • To understand the effect of microstructural factors (i.e., the size of ${\alpha}$ phase, equiaxed vs bimodal structure) on high cycle fatigue (HCF) and fatigue crack propagation (FCP) behaviors of mill-annealed Ti-6Al-4V (Ti64) alloy, three specimens of EQ (equiaxed)-8 (8 indicates the size of ${\alpha}$ grain), BM (bimodal)-8, and BM-16 were studied. The uniaxial HCF and FCP tests were conducted at an R ratio of 0.1 under sinusoidal fatigue loading. The microstructural influence (i.e., EQ vs BM) was not significant on the tensile properties of mill-annealed Ti64 alloy, and showed an increase in tensile strength and elongation with decreasing gauge thickness from 50 mm to 1.3 mm. The microstructure, on the other hand, affected the resistance to HCF substantially. It was found that the EQ structure in mill-annealed Ti64 has better resistance to HCF than the BM structure, as a result of different crack initiation mechanism. Unlike HCF behavior, the effect of microstructural features on the FCP behavior of mill-annealed Ti64 was not significant. Among the three specimens, BM-16 specimen showed the highest near-threshold ΔK value, probably because it had the greatest slip reversibility with large ${\alpha}$ grains. The effect of microstructural factors on the HCF and FCP behaviors of mill-annealed Ti64 alloy are discussed based on fractographic and micrographic observations.

띠톱기계 톱대의 역학적 모델링 및 설계 (The Mechanical Modeling and design of saw frame in band sawing machine)

  • 현대 제조 공업이 고효율, 고정밀도와 경제적인 방향으로 발전 하면서 금속을 절단하는 띠톱 기계는 이미 철강, 기계, 자동차, 조선, 석유, 광산, 항공 우주 등 다양한 영역에서 광범위 하게 활용 되고 있다. 하지만 기존의 띠톱 기계들은 경험적으로 설계 되어져 왔으며 따라서 낮은 수명, 톱질 동작 상태에서 낮은 정밀도 및 저효율을 문제와 높은 제조원가 문제를 가지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 띠톱의 역학적 해석을 통해 띠톱 톱대의 설계 파라미터를 개선하는 방법을 제시 하였다. 실제로 빈번하게 사용 되고 있는 띠톱 기계를 모델링 하여 응력 분석, 피로해석을 시행 하였으며 이에 따라 톱대의 상세한 설계 파라미터를 도출 하였다. 그 결과 피로 강도가 피로 요구 사항을 만족 시키고 띠톱 기계의 정밀도와 효율이 크게 향상 되는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • 헬기 로터깃은 최초로 항공기의 일차구조물로 사용된 대형 복합재료구조물이다. 헬기 로터깃은 운용기간(service life)동안에 $10^{7}$이나 $10^{8}$의 high-cycle 피로환경을 경험가게 된다. 로터깃은 복합재료가 알맞게만 사용된다면 거의 무한대의 피로수명을 갖게된다고 알려져 있다.

  • This paper represents that parts of a large generator operating in 1000 MW are affected by centrifugal forces due to high-speed rotation in 3600 rpm and 3D FEM Analyses are required to obtained the structural reliability of the generator. From these results, one would know the weakest locations and the stress distributions. The fatigue life is calculated in order to grasp the remaining life of generator. 2D and 3D analyses are performed to calculate stresses of the generator rotor and the retaining ring. From 2D results, we find the SCF at the slot and sub-slot of the rotor. 3D analysis is applied at the end part of generator rotor, which represents complex geometry, and rotor and retaining ring shrink thermally. With these results, designers of rotor and retaining ring can compare with the results of design code and verify the stress distributions of generator rotor and retaining ring, and then calculate the remaining life from the low-cycle fatigue data.

차동 기어 장치에 관한 구조 해석 (Structural Analysis on the System of Differential Gear)

  • This study investigates the stress at gear by modelling differential gear and using FEM. When gear is driven under power, high equivalent stress of 1596.2MPa is occurred at the stationary shaft. Maximum equivalent stress of 1596.2MPa is also occurred at the bottom and root of tooth and its fatigue life becomes 12.4 as the shortest cycle. As much as it becomes away from the center of gear, the maximum deformation becomes occurred. As exact power is delivered with the precise design of gear, the loss of power energy can be decreased.

  • The high stress, low cycle fatigue test were carried out on HT80 plates with artificial part-through notch. The LBB conditions by the net section stress approach was examined in detail. Finite element methods for the state of deformation were also applied and the results were compared with the results from experiments. From the test results, it was noted that the LBB condition in fatigue test was dependent upon the maximun load change before and after the crack penetration. The LBB criterion By the net section stress approach were slightly dependent on initial crack size. It was shown that the state of deformation can be used to predict whether the component is likely to show LBB condition or they will be broken rapidly.

Laser Peening: A Novel Tool to Reduce SCC Susceptibility and Prolong Fatigue Life of Metallic Components

  • The effects of laser peening on metallic materials have been investigated with water-penetrable frequency-doubled Nd:YAG laser. Laser pulses of 200 mJ energy and 8 ns duration focused on samples underwater with 0.8 mm spot diameter. X-ray study showed that compressive residual stress was imparted on SKD61 from the surface to nearly 2 mm depth. Stress corrosion cracking (SCC) was prohibited for sensitized SUS304 even in a severely corrosive environment fatigue lives of SUS316L and SM490A welded samples were prolonged significantly in the high-cycle regime. Since 1999, laser peening has been applied to prevent SCC in operating nuclear power plants in Japan.

열영향 평가를 통한 제철공장 공동가대의 피로해석 (A Fatigue Analysis of the Common Stand in a Steel Mill through the Evaluation of Thermal Effects)

  • 본 연구에서는 체철공장에서 래이들 카의 매우 높은 열에 주기적으로 빈번히 노출되는 공동가대의 열적 피해에 대한 체계적인 평가를 수행하였다 먼저 실험과 함께 유한요소법을 사용한 열해석이 수행되었다. 기존 공동가대와 향후 설치될 신 공동가대 모두에 대한 적합한 기준을 검증하기위하여 가장 심각한 상태에 대한 열평가가 포함되었다. 또한 공동가대에 적합한 방열판의 설계를 위하여 실험결과에 근거한 수치해석이 사용되었다. 마지막으로 새로 설치될 공동가대의 안전성과 내구성을 평가하기위한 피로해석을 수행하였다. 6m 신형공동가대의 열응력해석 및 피로해석 결과 기존 공동가대보다는 취약하나 설치 및 사용에는 문제가 없음을 확인하였다.

  • In this paper, we analyzed the characteristic of the broken section for bolts fastening the generator casing, and according to the frequency analysis, we grasped the characteristic of the excited force, traced the path of the exciting source so that we examined a factor of transient vibration of the generator casing. Even if it appears transient vibration again, we applied spring washer and more tensile bolt to the casing to minimize the fracture. By solving troubles of the generator rotor, we reduced the vibration amplitude to the normal condition. So we obtain much more the reliablility of the generator.
