Rubber materials, used in nuclear power plants, need high heat-oxidation resistance to curing or cracking under a heat aging environment. This is because they are applied to environments with high temperature, high humidity, and radiation exposure. Nuclear radiation causes additional hardening or degradation, therefore, rubber materials need radiation resistance that satisfies the general and any accidental conditions produced in the power plant. Therefore, in this study, we developed a rubber material with excellent heat and radiation resistance for the diaphragm seal of a nuclear steam generator nozzle dam. The rubber material greatly improved the reliability of the steam generator nozzle dam. In addition, 30 inch and 42 inch diaphragm seals were manufactured using the developed rubber material. A nozzle dam was installed in a nuclear power plant and tested under the same conditions as a steam generator to evaluate safety and reliability. In the future, the performance and safety of diaphragm seals developed through field tests of nuclear power plants will be evaluated and applied to currently operating and new nuclear power plants.
This study applied autoclave expansion and heat curing to accelerate the hydration of concrete and investigated how these methods affect the expansion rate, crack pattern, aggregate size effect, and expansion of electric arc furnace oxidizing slag (EOS)-containing concrete. An expansion prediction model was simulated to estimate the expansion behavior over a long period and to establish usage guidelines for EOS aggregates. The results showed that the EOS content in concrete should range between 20% and 30% depending on the construction conditions, and that coarse aggregates with a diameter of ${\geq}4.75-mm$ are not applicable to construction engineering. By comparison, aggregates with a size of 1.18-0.03 mm resulted in higher expansion rates; these aggregates can be used depending on the construction conditions. On Day 21, the prediction model attained a coefficient of determination ($R^2$) of at least 0.9.

Two-packaged polyurethane coatings were prepared by blending benzoic acid lactone modified polyester polyol(BLMPs) and HDI-biuret. BLMPs were synthesized by polycondensation of benzoic acid, viscosity depression component, with 1,4-butanediol, adipic acid, and polycaprolactone polyol. Kinematic viscosity of BLMP was gradually decreased with increasing benzoic acid content in BLMP. The low viscosity of modified polyester has an advantage of making a high-solid content coatings. After the film was coated with the prepared polyurethane coatings and cured at room temperature, the various physical properties were measured. They showed good physical properties such as flexibility, impact resistance, cross hatch adhesion, yellowness index, and rust resistance. These advantages are the results of introducing polycaprolactone polyol.

In order to control hydration heat in mass concrete, pipe cooling method has been widely used. The pipe cooling method leads to the decrease of curing period by lagging materials as well as the decrease of temperature difference between center and surface of mass concrete member, There are two methods in the pipe cooling system, which are open loop system and closed loop system. However open loop pipe cooling system cannot be applied to the mass concrete structures when cooling water supply is difficult. To control hydration heat of high strength mass foundation in the central area of city, closed loop pipe cooling system was developed to solve the cooling water supply. This paper reports the performance results of hydration heat control with closed loop pipe cooling system.

Mass concreting in cold weather environment should be focused on the control of thermal crack caused by high hydration heat rather than curing method for protecting from frost damage at early age because the thermal stress have much influence on the quality of structure placed in cold weather. Therefore, in this paper, the control of thermal crack of mass concrete in cold weather environment are dealt with preparing the practice plan for mass concrete and placing the concrete according to the plactice plan. According to the results, we can obtain good quality mass concrete without thermal crack caused by the difference of temperature between inner part and outer part.

This study is a part of development to improve early-age compressive strength of concrete by using industrial by-products. It tried to investigate the characteristics of early-age compressive strength according to curing temperature and industrial by-product replacement ratio 10, 20, and 30 %. As a result, regardless of industrial by-product replacement ratio and age, early-age compressive strength of concrete was found to be high compared to Plain using 100 % cement.

This paper presents the temperature annealing effect on the dark current of the InGaAs waveguide photodiodes, which are developed for high-speed optical receivers. The interesting experimental phenomena were observed that the dark current is significantly decreased and the breakdown voltage is slightly increased after annealing at $250^{\circ}C$ whereas the dark current and the breakdown voltage are almost constant after annealing at $200^{\circ}C$. Based on the experimental results, the long-term annealing is more effective for the dark current improvement than the conventional curing process.

Until now, the quantity to recycle wasted concrete as the great supplementary value was very little. But considering a insufficiency of the present state of aggregates, the recycling of wasted aggregates is indispensable. This study will offer the basic application data of the recycled aggregates to make by the new attempt and offer the basic data of the great supplementary value of recycled aggregate to make good use of precast process. The result of compressive strength, tensile strength, flexural strength and drying shrinkage test of concrete by recycled aggregates were similar to the property of normal aggregate concrete, and the contrary effect of recycled aggregate by high temperature steam curing do not have been found out. Therefore the great supplementary value of recycled aggregate to make good use of precast process is possible way to be helpful to a insufficiency of the present state of aggregates.
Radiant burners are applicable to drying, preheating and curing in materials manufacturing processes. High radiation efficiency is one of the most important performance criteria for these burners. The wide variation in reported radiation efficiencies are partly due to the differences in the measurement techniques. In the present work, water cooled radiant heat flux meter was used to measure radiant heat flux from a metal fiber mat burner. Non-contact type thermometer was also utilized to measure the surface temperature of the burner. Combustion gas was measured by gas analyzers. According to the thermal loads and stoichiometric ratios, radiant heat transfer ratio and combustion performance were discussed here in.
Water soluble urea-melamine-phenol copolymer adhesive manufactured with 80 percent of urea resin contents was manufactured by different molar ratio for a high temperature curing type, and their properties and strengthes were examined through manufactures of plywood with Kapur (Dryobalanops spp.) veneers. The results are summarized as follows: 1. Specific gravities of air dried plywood manufactured from each adhesive ranged from 0.78 to 0.84 and their moisture contents met the KS requirement. 2. In dry and wet shear strength, $U_{80}M_{10}P_{10}$ copolymer resin showed the highest value and urea resin was the lowest, indicating that melamine and phenol were effective for increasing glue shear strength of urea resin. 3. In case of glue shear strength after boiling test, phenolic resin was the nest and melamine was not so effective as phenol on reinforcement of boiling water resistance of urea resin.
