The human voice is a convenient method of information transfer between different objects such as between men, men and machine, between machines. The development of information and communication technology, the voice has been able to transfer farther than before. The way to communicate, it is to convert the voice to another form, transmit it, and then reconvert it back to sound. In such a communication process, a vocoder is a method of converting and re-converting a voice and sound. The CELP (Code-Excited Linear Prediction) type vocoder, one of the voice codecs, is adapted as a standard codec since it provides high quality sound even though its transmission speed is relatively low. The EVRC (Enhanced Variable Rate CODEC) and QCELP (Qualcomm Code-Excited Linear Prediction), variable bit rate vocoders, are used for mobile phones in 3G environment. For the real-time implementation of a vocoder, the reduction of sound quality is a typical problem. To improve the sound quality, that is important to know the size and shape of noise. In the existing sound quality improvement method, the voice activated is detected or used, or statistical methods are used by the large mount of data. However, there is a disadvantage in that no noise can be detected, when there is a continuous signal or when a change in noise is large. This paper focused on finding a better way to decrease the reduction of sound quality in lower bit transmission environments. Based on simulation results, this study proposed a preprocessor application that estimates the SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio) using the spectral SNR estimation method. The SNR estimation method adopted the IMBE (Improved Multi-Band Excitation) instead of using the SNR, which is a continuous speech signal. Finally, this application improves the quality of the vocoder by enhancing sound quality adaptively.
The Study Evaluated Radiography Images using the Mastoid Process Axial Oblique Projection (Arcelin) imaging method for the Diagnosis of Pyramid Ridge, Mastoid Process, Mastoid Process air cells, Tympanum, Internal auditory and petrous in Supine Position. The subjective ROC (receiver operation characteristic) evaluation method was conducted on five Radiological technologists who have worked in the Image medical Department of University Hospitals for more than 8 years, and the Objective Evaluation, signal-to-noise Ratio (SNR), was evaluated and Analyzed. The Cronbach Alpha value was significantly higher at 0.816. In the Image ROC Evaluation Taken by Tilting the X-ray Tube 5°, 10°, 15° toward the leg by 10°, it Scored 34 points, and in the overall evaluation, the SNR scored high at 6,549. In Addition, In the Image Evaluation taken by Tilting the X-ray Tube 5°, 10°, and 15° toward the head, it Scored 32 points In the Image ROC Evaluation taken by tilting 5°, and in the Objective Evaluation, SNR received the highest score of 6,732.

Purpose: Whole-body PET using radiopharmaceutical is one of the imaging study methods for physiological changes of body. High specificity of the PET-CT examination is used to detect an early stages of cancer and metastatic cancer by imaging a physiological changes. During the imaging process, PET image has been characterized by a relatively low image quality due to its low sensitivity and the acquisition of random and scatter coincidences as well as patients figure. Therefore, the image quality as the changes of the acquisition times of patient weight was evaluated in this study. Materials and Methods: Thirty patients who presented to our hospital were enrolled. They were divided to normal, overweight, and obese group using BMI index, respectively. The patients with a liver disease and diabetes were excluded. $^{18}F-FDG$ was administered to the patients as 5.2 MBq per kg. After an hour from an injection, image acquisition was obtained as List mode in a part of liver in 1 bed. SNR (signal-to-noise ratio) of each groups acquisition times were confirmed from the calculated radiation counts and random fractions. The statistical significance of three groups was confirmed through one-way ANOVA test. On the basis of the counts of 2 minutes on normal group, the SNR of overweight group and obese group were compared. Results: The SNR were increased with loger aquisition time in 3 groups. In the condition of same acquisition time, the SNR had a statistical significance (P<0.05). The SNR were decreased to the normal, overweight, and obese, respectively. Liver activity had no significance difference on each group and RF had the significance differences (P<0.05). On the basis of the counts of 2 minutes on normal group, there were no statistical significance in a three minute acquisitions of overweight group and two minute acquisitions of obese group (P=0.150). Conclusion: In this study, the administrated amount of radiation dose did not adjust as the change of the patients weight. Increasing the acquisition time when the administration of the same amount of dose was able to get a good result of SNR. When the Based 2 minute on normal group, if overweight and obese case the increased acquisition time of 3 minute was able to obtain a similar SNR. On the basis of the normal group, the acquisition times of overweight and obese group were increased to 3 minutes per bed and the SNR were similar to the normal group.

Since a linear transducer has an area of interest equal to the length of the transducer, the area of interest can be expanded using the virtual convex function installed in the device. However, it was thought that the change in the direction of the ultrasonic sound velocity according to the change in the visual area of interest would affect the image quality, so this was objectively confirmed. For this study, image evaluation and SNR·CNR of the phantom for ultrasound quality control were measured. As a result, in the phantom image evaluation, both images were able to identify structures in functional resolution, grayscale, and dynamic range. However, it was confirmed that the standard image was excellent in the reproducibility of the size and shape of the structure. As a result of SNR·CNR evaluation, SNR·CNR of most trapezoidal images was low, except for structures at specific locations. In addition, through the statistical analysis graph, it was further confirmed that the SNR and CNR for each depth decreased as the size of the cystic structure decreased. Through this study, it was confirmed that the use of the function has the advantage of providing a wide visual area of interest, but it has an effect on the image quality. Therefore, when using the virtual convex function, it is judged that the examiner should use it in an appropriate situation and conduct various studies to acquire high-quality images and to improve the understanding and proficiency of the equipment.

In the two-way relay channel, the relay employ Amplify-and-Forward (AF) or Decode-and-Forward (DF) protocol, and broadcast the network-coded signal to both user. In the system, DF protocol provides maximum throughput at low signal to noise ratio(SNR). On the other hand, at high SNR, AF protocol provides maximum throughput. The paper propose active transmission scheme which employ Amplify-and-Forward or Decode-and-Forward protocol based on received SNR at the relay over Two-way relay channel. The optimal threshold is investigated numerically for switching the protocol. Through numerical results, we confirm that the proposed scheme outperforms conventional schemes over two-way relay channel.
One of the problems on the application of the speech recognition system in the real world is the degradation of the performance by acoustical distortions. The most important source of acoustical distortion is the additive noise. This paper describes a spectral compensation technique based on a spectral peak enhancement scheme followed by an efficient noise subtraction scheme for noise robust speech recognition. The proposed methods emphasize the formant structure and compensate the spectral tilt of the speech spectrum while maintaining broad-bandwidth spectral components. The recognition experiments was conducted using noisy speech corrupted by white Gaussian noise, car noise, babble noise or subway noise. The new technique reduced the average error rate slightly under high SNR(Signal to Noise Ratio) environment, and significantly reduced the average error rate by 1/2 under low SNR(10 dB) environment when compared with the case of without spectral compensations.

In this paper, the performance of a orthogonal noncoherent FH-BFSK communication system in the presence of partial band noise jamming is analyzed. Also bit error rate(BER) is studied when jamming bandwidth ratio to overall spread spectrum bandwidth,$\rho$, changes according to processing gain(PG). The performance is investigated by numerical analysis and computer simulation of SPW. Even if PG is high, required performance could not gain because error floor occurs when JSR is 10 dB and SNR is under 10 dB. PG can be obtained to acquire a required BER according to $\rho$ when SNR is above 12 dB.

By using inherent stopping criteria of LDPC codes, the average number of iterations can be substantially reduced at high signal to noise ratio (SNR). However, we encounter a problem when hybrid automatic repeat request (H-ARQ) systems are applied. Frequent failures of decoding at low SNR region imply that the decoder leaches the maximum number of iterations frequently and thus the decoding complexity increases. In this paper, we propose a combination of stopping criteria using the syndrome weight of tentative codeword. By numerical analysis, it is shown that the decoding complexity of given H-ARQ system is reduced by 70-80% with the proposed algorithms.
This paper presents a signal quality estimation technique for QAM modulation systems. By making a LUT(Look-up table) putting the number of N enough, we can derive estimated SNR from LUT even though N is small. That is so called MOTM algorithm. In 16-QAM, the distance $d_a$, between adjacent symbols is always invariable, so absolute value of R(the amplitude of signal) minus $d_a$ has a always same signal distribution value. This value does not form a Gaussian shape but, by making a little bit correction, we can make this symmetrical. So, from the received symbol value, by using LUT we can easily derive the estimated SNR. By considering this, we introduce a signal quality estimation technique for QAM schemes. This proposed method can be applicable to high order modulation schemes and wide range of signal to noise ratio.

Mobile communication systems are required not only to support high-data-rate transmissions in favorable channel conditions but also to be able to tolerate hostile environments possibly encountered by cellular communications. This paper compares CDMA(Code Division Multiple Access), OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing), and MC-CDMA(Multi-Carrier CDMA)with inaccurate channel estimates and low SNR environments. The equations and simulation results show that the performance losses in CDMA systems due to imprecise channel estimates are not considerable while frequency-hopping of OFDM systems can result in more than l0dB SNR losses. Also, this paper show that frequency-spreading of MC-CDMA can be very helpful for channel compensation performances than frequency-hopping or time-spreading of OFDM.
