Pre-foaming that has been used in this study is using to control and guarantee quality, but the optimum mix proportion and regulation are not definite. Therefore, this study investigated properties of foamed concrete according to concentrations of foaming agent to improve usability of foamed concrete. Synthetic foaming agent such as AES(Alkyl Ether Sulfate) and AOS(Alpha Olefin Sulfonate) are used to make foam with 1, 3, and 5% concentrations. We found that the flow of foam concrete increases when foam concentration is high and AES is more flowable than AOS. Density and compressive strength increase when foam concentration is low.

Phenolic antioxidants are effective stabilizers that provide excellent long-term heat stability by preventing thermo-oxidative degradation during processing and service life. However, under a selected set of circumstances, certain types of phenolics have been susceptible to discoloration due to prolonged storage in an environment containing oxides of nitrogen. It is investigated that the effect of addition of secondary antioxidant and chemical structure of primary antioxidant on discoloration of amorphous poly-${\alpha}$-olefin (APAO), which is especially prone to be decomposed in high processing temperature. From the result, it is concluded that a higher level of steric hindrance of phenolic antioxidant provided by long alkyl chain allows a more enhanced synergic effect with secondary antioxidant.
The cellulase components were partially purified from the culture filtrate of the alkalophilic bacterium Pseudomonas sp. AC-711 and its enzymatic properties were characterized. The specific activity of the purified major enzyme component was 3.5 units/mg protein as carboxymethyl cellulase and the yield was 23% of the total activity of the culture broth. The molecular weight of the component was 46,000 and the Km and Vmax on CMC were determined as $15.4mg\;mL^{-1}$ and $4.17{\mu}moles\;mL^{-1}\;min^{-1}$, respectively. The enzyme was stable at the temperatures below $60^{\circ}C$ and at the pH range of 4.0~11.0, and the optimal temperature and pH were $60^{\circ}C$ and pH 8.0, respectively. The enzyme activity was not significantly affected by the common surfactants (concentration: 0.05%) such as ${\alpha}$-olefin sulfonate, linear alkylbenzene sulfonate, sodium dodecyl sulfonate, hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide and Tween 80. The enzyme was activated by the metal ions such as $Ca^{2+}$, $Cu^{2+}$, $Co^{2+}$, whereas inhibited by $Hg^{2+}$ and $Zn^{2+}$. The enzyme exhibited relatively high activity toward amorphous CMC as compared with crystalline substrates such as filter paper and avicel.
In order to produce alkaline protease, psychrotrophic bacterium which have high enzyme activity at low temperature, was isolated by using enrichment culture from various samples and identified as genus alkalopsychrotropic Pseudomonas sp. RP-222. The optimal culture conditions for enzyme production were pH- 10.0, temperature-$20^{\circ}C$ and culture time-4 days. The optimum pH and temperature for the enzyme activity were pH 10.5 and $40^{\circ}C$, respectively and the enzyme was relatively stable at pH 7.0~13.0 and below $50^{\circ}C$. The enzyme was inhibited by ethylenediaminetetraacetate and phenylmethylsulfonylfluoride, indicating that the enzyme was a serine metalloenzyme, but considerably stable in the presence of surface active agents. Activity of the enzyme was increased by the addition of 0.05% Na-$\alpha$-olefin sulfonate.
Magnetite nanoparticles were synthesized by adding excess ammonium hydroxide to a solution of iron (II) and (III) chlorides. The surfactants of oleic acid and Span 80 were applied in sequence to the magnetic particles as a combined stabilizer, and poly-${\alpha}$-olefin (PAO) 30 or 60 was used as the liquid base with a low or high viscosity, respectively. The ferrofluids were prepared with the concentrations of 200, 300, 400, and 500 mg/mL, and characterized by density, dispersion, magnetization, and viscosity. The density of the fluids increased proportionally to the concentration from 0.98 to 1.27 g/mL and 1.01 to 1.30 g/mL with PAO 30 base and PAO 60 base, and the dispersion stability was 77-95 and 81-74% for the PAO-30 and PAO-60-based fluids, respectively. The observed saturation magnetization values of the PAO-30 and PAO-60-based ferrofluids were 16 to 42 mT and 17 to 41 mT with the concentration increase in the range 200-500 mg/mL, respectively, depending upon the content of magnetic particles in the fluid. The viscosity variation of the PAO-30 and PAO-60-based ferrofluids in the temperature range $20-80^{\circ}C$ was the least with the concentrations of 400 and 300 mg/mL, respectively.
The mixtures of non-conjugated dienes, 4-methyl-1,4-hexadiene and 5-methyl-1,4-hexadiene (MHD), were successfully synthesized by the reaction of isoprene with ethylene using Fe(III)-based catalyst in toluene. The conversion was over 96 mol% on the basis of the initial amount of isoprene used. The production yield for MHD was nearly 50 mol%, the other was polyisoprene. The mixtures were successfully copolymerized with ethylene by using zirconium-based metallocenes. The products were characterized by the combinations of gas chromatography, high temperature gel permeation chromatography, $^1$H NMR, $^{13}$ C NMR, high temperature $^1$H NMR, UV/visible spectroscopy, and differential scanning calorimetry. It was found that 5-methyl-1,4-hexadiene was active enough to be incorporated into the copolymer chain but the corresponding isomeric material,4-methyl-1,4-hexadiene, was inactive in metallocene-catalyzed copolymerizations. Specifically, in the zirconocene-catalyzed copolymerizations of ethylene with MHD, ansa-structure catalysts seem to be more efficient than non-bridged type zirconocene. The degree of incorporation of MHD in the resulting copolymers was able to be controlled by the amount of non-conjugated dienes used initially.

Polyalphaolefin (PAO) is a synthetic lubricant that is superior to mineral-based lubricants in the terms of physical and chemical characteristics such as low pour point, high viscosity index (VI), and thermal and oxidation stability. Several kinds of PAOs have been synthesized by using 1-pentene, 1-hexene, 1-octene, or 1-dodecene as monomer with three kinds of aluminum-based Lewis acid catalysts via cationic polymerization. The control of the catalytic performance and physical properties of PAO such like molecular weight, kinematic viscosity, pour point, and viscosity index was done by changing polymerization parameters. The alkyl aluminum halide-based catalysts show better catalytic activity than that of the conventional $AlCl_3$ catalyst. The microstructure of PAO was investigated by means of TOF-MS (time of flightmass spectroscopy) analysis in order to elucidate the correlation between the performances of the lubricant (VI, pour point) and the molecular structure of PAO. The VI of PAO increases with increases in the carbon number of ${\alpha}$-olefin. In other words, the performances of PAO as a lubricant strongly depended on the branch length of PAO.
Abstract A facultative alkalophilic gram-negative Vibrio metschnikovii strain RH530, isolated from the wastewater, produced several alkaline proteases (VAP) including six alkaline serine proteases and a metalloprotease. From this strain, high yielding YAP mutants were isolated by NTG treatment. The isolated mutant KS1 showed nine times more activity than the wild-type after optimization of the culture media. The production was regulated by catabolite repression when glucose was added to the medium. The effects of several organic nitrogen sources on the production of the YAP were investigated to avoid catabolite repression. The combination of 4% wheat gluten meal (WGM), 1.5% cotton seed flour (eSF), and 5% soybean meal (SBM) resulted in the best production when supplemented with 1% NaCl. The YAP showed a resistance to surfactants such as $sodium-{\alpha}-olefin$ sulfonate (AOS), polyoxy ethylene oxide (POE), and sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), yet not to linear alkylbenzene sulfonate (LAS). However, the activity of the YAP was restored completely when incubated with LAS in the presence of POE or $Na_2SO_4$. The YAP was stable in a liquid laundry detergent containing 6.6% SLES (sodium lauryl ether sulfate), 6.6% LAS, 19.8% POE, and stabilizing agents for more than two weeks at $40^{\circ}C$, but the stability was sharply decreased even after 1 day when incubated at $60^{\circ}C$. A washing performance test with the YAP exhibited it to be a good washing power by showing 51 % and 60% activity at $25^{\circ}C{\;}and{\;}40^{\circ}C$, respectively, thereby indicating that the YAP also has a good detergency at a low temperature. All the results suggest that the YAP produced from the mutant strain KSI has suitable properties for use in laundry detergents.rgents.

Recently, the government has been working feverously to save energy and reduce greenhouse gas emission by enacting Basic Act on Low Carbon Green Growth at the national level. Improving the insulation performance of building exterior and insulator can reduce the energy in the building sector. This study is about developing light-weight foamed concrete insulation panel that can be applied to buildings to save energy and to find the optimal condition for the development of insulation materials that can save energy by enhancing its physical, kinetic and thermal characteristics. Various experimental factors and conditions were considered in the study such as foam agent types (AES=Alcohol Ethoxy Sulfate, AOS=Alpha-Olefin Sulfonate, VS=Vegetable Soap, FP=Fe-Protein), foam agent dilution concentration (1, 3, 5%), and foam percentage (30, 50, 70%). Experiment results indicated that the surface tension of aqueous solution including foam agent, was lower when AOS was used over other foam agents. FP produced relatively stable foams in 3% or more, which produced unstable foams containing high water content and low surface tension when diluted at low concentration. Depending on foam agent types, compressive strength and thermal conductivity were similar at low density range but showed some differences at high concentration range. In addition, when concentrations of foam agent and foaming ratio increased, pore size increased and open pores are formed. In all types of foam agent, thermal conductivity were excellent, satisfying KS standards. The most outstanding performance for insulation panel was obtained when FP 3% was used.
Graphene has been reported to be an excellent lubricant additive that reduces friction and wear when coated on the surface of various materials or when dispersed in lubricants as an atomic thin material with the low surface energy. In this study, alkyl functionalized graphene oxide (FGO) nanosheets for oil-based lubricant additives were prepared by using three types of alkyl chloride chemicals (butyl chloride, octyl chloride, and tetradecyl chloride). The chemical and structural properties of the synthesized FGOs were analyzed by Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, scanning electron microscope (SEM), and transmission electron microscope (TEM). The synthesized FGOs were dispersed at 0.02 wt% in PAO-0W40 oil and its tribological characteristics were investigated using a high frequency friction/wear tester. The friction coefficient and the wear track width of poly alpha olefin (PAO) oil added with FGO-14 were tested by a ball-on-disk method, and the measured results were reduced by ~5.88 and ~3.8%, respectively compared with those of the conventional PAO oil. Thus, it was found that the wear resistance of PAO oil was improved. In this study, we demonstrated the successful functionalization of GO as well as the improvement of dispersion stability and tribological characteristics of FGOs based on various alkyl chain lengths.
