Hemp bast pulp cooked at temperature below $100^{\circ}C$ followed by defibration by the knife and the valley beater, respectively was mixed with softwood pulp varying the amount of hemp pulp in order to find the optimum condition for making hemp-wood paper. Both the knife and the valley beaters contributed to the dispersion of pulp fiber well. Lots of shives were found when the knife beater was applied exclusively, but the fibers were dispersed well when freeness dropped to 600 mL CSF and 500 mL CSF by the valley beater. Air resistance decreased drastically below 500 mL CSF where rapid disrupture of pulp fiber occurred. As the values for freeness and hemp fiber content increased, so did roughness and bulk. It was apparent that the tear strength of hemp-wood paper was on the rise drastically as hemp fiber content increased. Nevertheless the optimum hemp fiber content of hemp-wood paper would be 20% considering the decrease in both tensile and burst strengths as well as sheet formation.

High-altitude ElectroMagnetic Pulse(HEMP) is a high-power electromagnetic pulse caused by nuclear explosions at altitudes above 30 km. This pulse can cause serious damage to the electrical/electronic device. Therefore, there are a lot of studies on the effects of HEMP in the literature. When conducting studies on the effects of HEMP, it is essential to measure the simulated HEMP. Depending on the need for measurement, this paper focuses on the HEMP measurement method. This paper proposes a measurement method using frequency domain compensation to extract the correct waveform and solves the offset problem more efficiently than the conventional methods. The proposed method is verified by experiment using HEMP simulator and measurement system in ADD.

To conserve wood resources for papermaking, chemical compositions of the hemp (Cannabis sativa L.) bast fiber cultivated in Korea such as holocellulose, ${\alpha}$-cellulose, lignin, alcohol-benzene extractives, hot and cold water extractives, and ash contents were investigated to manufacture the specialty packaging paper effectively. Significantly very low klason lignin content of 3.3% was accomplished by removing of the outer shell of bark. Laboratory soda pulping method which is very useful for the nonwood fiber was adapted, and it was found that there was no significant difference in both kappa number and H-factor between 25% and 30% NaOH charge. Hemp pulp cooked with the laboratory digester in 25% NaOH at $170^{\circ}C$ were mixed together with the wood pulp(NBKP:LBKP=1:1) in order to find the optimum mixture ratio which exhibited acceptable paper strength properties such as tensile index, burst index, and tear strength. When 10% of hemp soda pulps was mixed with 90% of wood pulps comprised of SwBKP and HwBKP (1:1), all physical strength increased significantly. The physical strength decreased as the amount of hemp pulp increased because the cell wall of bast fiber is very thick which causes low conformability and low fiber-fiber bonding. These results showed that paper made of hemp-wood pulp can be used for the specialty packaging paper which requires both the characteristic surface properties and the high physical strength of hemp fiber.

Despite the ubiquity of electronic media, paper is still the most generally readable carrier of information. Because paper materials are deteriorated by chemical, biological and physical factors over time, there have been major concerns about the decay of large collections of books, publications, old maps, historical artifacts, and written records. Therefore, manufacture of permanent paper has been a highly debated issue in paper conservation research. Through the use of permanent paper, our new records, journals, library books, art works, and all culturally and historically important documents can be preserved. In this study, handsheets were made of mixture of hemp bast fiber produced by soda pulping and HwBKP varying the amount of hemp. Physical, mechanical and optical properties of each handsheet were examined. As the ratio of hemp bast fiber increased, mechanical properties were improved significantly, but opacity decreased. After aging, the optical properties of the handsheets mixed with the hemp bast fiber more decreased than those of the non-mixed handsheet. The more mixture ratio of hemp bast fiber increased, the more decreasing rate of optical properties increased. As a result, it was confirmed that hemp bast fiber is a very promising resource for the manufacturing of permanent paper.

Regarding HEMP has been studied as few thousand of paper by major nuclear bomb holding countries with USA for the self protection against nuclear bomb attract. Major HEMP protection facilities are consist of the shielding, filtering, grounding and high voltage protection circuits. Shielding room construction required a highest cost among the key protective facilities. Most of a theoretical formulas listed on the paper and related books has a little correlations in the certain frequency band between the theoretical formulas and field measuring results. For the reasons we proposed the advanced new theoretical formulas and developed the computer simulation S/W as enough as apply to the cost effective shielding room design for HEMP considering the various structural constants.
Chemical composition and enzymatic saccharification characteristics of hemp woody core were investigated by their chemical composition analysis and enzymatic saccharification with commercially available cellulases (Celluclast 1.5L and Novozym 342). Hemp woody core have higher xylan and lower lignin contents than its bast fiber. Based on hemicelluloses and lignin composition, hemp woody core is similar with hardwood biomass. However, cellulose was more easily converted to glucose than xylan to xylose and this trend was confirmed both hemp woody core and yellow poplar. Hemp woody core biomass shows higher saccharification than yellow poplar (hardwood biomass) based on cellulose and xylan hydrolysis. With easier enzymatic saccharification in cellulose and xylan, and similar chemical composition, hemp woody core have better biorefinery feedstock characteristics than hardwood biomass.

The system which is exposed in the impact range of High-altitude Electromagnetic Pulse(HEMP) may get serious damage because HEMP has a very large electric field value, a very fast rise-time, and so on. Electromagnetic analysis should be performed for signals coupled to the opening or cables of the system prior to derive the system design specifications in order to protect the system against HEMP adequately. In this paper, we analyzed the HEMP coupled signals for the coaxial cable which is generally used to transmit and receive video or RF signals and compared the coupled signal of the one wire with that of the inner conductor of a coaxial cable to confirm the decreased effect of HEMP by the shield. The coaxial cable is analyzed by the external and internal region of the shield separately. For the external region of the coaxial cable, general scattered equation was applied to calculate currents on the surface of the shield and for internal region of the coaxial cable, chain matrix algorithm is used. To verify this paper the analyzed results were compared the results of the existing paper and the two results have good agreements.

This paper covers the importance of a dedicated Power Line Filter implementation against HEMP(High altitude ElectroMagnetic Pulse) threats caused by high altitude nuclear detonations. As the PCI test results for E1 short pulse with 2500[A], only HEMP filter obtained the required residual current around 8[A], but others didn't meet below 10[A] on MIL-STD-188-125 PCI regulation. Consequently, the development of a dedicated power line filter turned out to be a essential element in order to protect the power related system against HEMP transient.

Although High-altitude electromagnetic pulse(HEMP) protection filter meets the requirements of pulsed current injection(PCI) acceptance test, the equipment under test which has low electromagnetic susceptibility level can be damaged during PCI verification test that is performed on operating condition of equipment. This paper proposed the HEMP effect analysis method using comparison of norms between residual current of HEMP filter and transient electromagnetic conducted susceptibility criteria of equipment, as an alternative method under the condition that performing PCI verification test is limited in HEMP hardened facilities. PCI acceptance test of HEMP filter, transient electromagnetic conducted susceptibility test, and PCI verification test are performed and test results are analyzed.

The high-altitude electromagnetic pulse(HEMP) conducted environment and the HEMP radiated environment are established as the consequences of a high-altitude nuclear explosion. The IEC 61000-2-10, the international standard, defines the HEMP conducted environment. The IEC 61000-5-5 defines how protective devices for conducted disturbance proposed for HEMP protection shall be specified. The IEC 61000-4-24 deals with methods for testing protective devices for HEMP conducted disturbance. The IEC 61000-4-24:1997 mainly describes the measurement method of small protective components. However, it does not provide the measurement method for a combination filter of a protective component and a filter which is widely used in recent. It is important to consider the characteristic of the measurement setup parameters like thickness and length of the cable and its height above ground plane etc. in establishing measurement setup because HEMP conducted disturbances include the frequency spectrum below 50 MHz. This paper deals with the optimized measurement method, considering the frequency spectrum of HEMP conducted disturbance, current waveform, and analyzing the effects of cables existing in the measurement setup.
