  • Recently fluoridation has often been considered as a method to maintain the concentration of fluoride in the drinking water at level adequate to be able to help protect children having decayed teeth. The benefits of fluoridation can be verified to compare the occurance rates of decayed tooth in the areas fluoridated and not fluoridated. Jainhae and Chongju have already fluoridaed the drinking water, and it was known that fluoridation could protect tooth-decaying effectively. The reduction rate of decayed teeth was estimated to be about 50~60 per cent. In the present study, a questionary survey to about sixty four hundred inhabitants of Taejon was carried out to grasp the opinions of citizens for fluoridation. According to the results, 75 per cent of the respondents agreed to the fluoridation. About 49 per cent and 44 per cent of them wanted that the fluoridation should be enforced after a questionary survey and after the decision of a specialist group in the institutes concerned respectively. About 71 per cent of them agreed to 5 per cent-rising of water fee for the fluoridation. The anual cost reguired for fluoridation in a large city was estimated to be about 500 won per capital therefore its economic effect is very large.

  • The primary purpose of this study was to develop a college adjustment program for freshmen through admission officer system that relies less on test scores and on the various talents evaluated by admissions officers. To help these talented students adjust the new life of the university and enhance their gifts, a college adjustment program was developed with their special needs and characteristics. For that, the survey with 57 students and in-depth interviews with 12 students were conducted. The results revealed that the students wanted to learn study skills, self-management, global mind setting, and life vision and goals setting. Most of the students were worried about their grades because they entered the school with their talents and experience in diverse activities not SAT scores. To promote their academic performance, this program consisted of an academic readiness program which complements students' abilities in primary subjects like math, English, and science, and a potential progress program which is peer-group learning communities based on their own interests like global learning communities, creative learning communities, and service-learning communities. This program was suggested in the context of Comprehensive Development Model. To carry out the program systematically, related organizations and colleges should collaborate with each other.

  • This study aims to understand how different construction methods impact scenic preference of green wall and clarify features of each construction method to help select the most suitable construction method for the wanted image of a green wall by providing the basic data for further development and distribution of green wall. Questionnaire developed by the Repertory Grid technique proved that 11 adjectives can be used to describe scenic features of a green wall and 4 preference elements. The result of the Scenic evaluation, the Felt type scored high in 'Aesthetic' and 'Maintenance' meaning that it is the most suitable method when constructing a green wall to improve urban scenery. Regression analysis was conducted to understand the link between the preference elements and scenic impression of a green wall. The result is that the higher the preference is on the design of a green wall, the higher the score is for 'Aesthetic'. Also, the higher the preference is on Bio-Diversity, Design, Growth, the higher the score is for 'Natural'. The above findings can be important measures and reference for selection of the right construction method when planning a green wall.

  • With the advent of the pandemic era, non-face-to-face classes are being conducted, and many studies are being conducted on the effects of non-face-to-face classes in many subjects. Since the programming class is a subject that combines knowledge transfer and practice. In the case of non-face-to-face classes, I wanted to know how students perceive them through a survey. The number of students who answered that traditional face-to-face classes were good in terms of ease of question and answer, understanding of class content and immersion in class, and more students answered that non-face-to-face classes were good in terms of securing practice time and class control. It is expected that using the results of this study will help plan effective programming lessons.

  • In the field of medical artificial intelligence, there have been a lot of researches on disease prediction and classification algorithms that can help doctors judge, but relatively less interested in artificial intelligence that can help medical consumers acquire and judge information. The fact that more than 150,000 questions have been asked about which hospital to go over the past year in NAVER portal will be a testament to the need to provide medical information suitable for medical consumers. Therefore, in this study, we wanted to establish a classification model that classifies 8 medical subjects for symptom text directly described by patients which was collected from NAVER portal to help consumers choose appropriate medical subjects for their symptoms. In order to ensure the validity of the data involving patients' subject matter, we conducted similarity measurements between objective symptom text (typical symptoms by medical subjects organized by the Seoul Emergency Medical Information Center) and subjective symptoms (NAVER data). Similarity measurements demonstrated that if the two texts were symptoms of the same medical subject, they had relatively higher similarity than symptomatic texts from different medical subjects. Following the above procedure, the classification model was constructed using a ridge regression model for subjective symptom text that obtained validity, resulting in an accuracy of 0.73.
