Experimental study on Thermal Comfort of Electric Vehicle Occupants Using Local Proximity Heating Module (국부 근접 난방 모듈을 이용한 전기차 탑승자의 열쾌적성에 대한 실험적 연구)

  • In order to meet the technological demand for indoor heating systems that ensure winter thermal comfort during the transition from internal combustion engines to electrification, a localized proximity heating module using surface heating elements was developed. The operational performance of heating module was tested in the low temperature chamber. The experiment conditions were varied by changing the chamber temperature (-10, 0℃), the air flow rate (6.2, 6.0, 4.2m3/h), the heater power (100, 80, 60, 40W). Thermal comfort model was confirmed using the CBE Thermal Comfort Tool applying ASHRAE standard 55. Under -10℃ condition, thermal comfort was satisfied at 23.4, 23.2℃ at power of 100W and air flow rate 6.0, 4.6m3/h. Under 0℃ condition, at power of 80W, air flow rate 6.2, 6.0m3/h, and at power of 60W, air flow rate 4.6m3/h showed results of 25.7, 26.1, 23.0℃, respectively, satisfying thermal comfort. This study analyzed the operating performance of the local proximity heating module in the low temperature chamber and applied thermal comfort model to prove applicability of local proximity heating module using surface heating elements and how to utilize the thermal comfort model.

Physico-Chemical Characteristics Evaluation of White Pork Rind and Black Pork Rind (백돈피와 흑돈피의 이화학적 품질특성 평가)

  • In order to determine the material characteristics of pork rinds according to the breeds, the chemical composition, color, pH, collagen contents, shear force, fatty acid and amino acid contents of pork rinds were investigated. White pork rinds (WPR) and black pork rinds (BPR) were evaluated before and after heating to compare the differences between breeds and the effects of heating treatment. In the chemical composition test, the respective moisture contents for WPR and BPR before heating were 49.90% and 53.75% but increased to 60.75% and 61.09% after heating. The test for crude protein and crude fat contents showed lower values after heating but WPR was higher than BPR. In the color test, the L value decreased rapidly with heating, dropping from 68.75 to 45.11 in WPR and from 67.22 to 49.64 in BPR. WPR had a higher L value and a lower a value than BPR before heating but had a higher L value and a lower a value than WPR after heating. pH was significantly higher in WPR than BPR regardless of heating (p<0.05). The collagen content for WPR and BPR was 10.38 g/100 g and 11.54 g/100 g but increased to 12.00 g/100 g in WPR and decreased to 11.40 g/100 g in BPR after heating. The shear force of 26.14 kgf in WPR was significantly higher than 12.89 kgf in BPR before heating (p<0.05), but the values decreased significantly after heating in both WPR and BPR. Linoleic acid in WPR was 17.29%, which was higher than 15.13% in BPR. The USFA for BPR was also higher than WPR. In amino acid composition, the EAA contents in WPR was 7,190 mg%, which was higher than 5,520 mg% in BPR.

Improvement of Weldlines of an Injection Molded Part with the Aid of High-Frequency Induction Heating (고주파 유도가열을 적용한 사출성형품의 웰드라인 개선)

  • High-frequency induction is an efficient way to heat mold surface by electromagnetic induction in a non-contact manner. Thanks to its capability of rapid heating and cooling of mold surface, it has been recently applied to the injection molding. The present study applies the high-frequency induction heating for elimination of weldlines in an injection-molded plastic part. To eliminate weldlines, the mold temperature of the corresponding weld locations should be maintained higher than the glass transition temperature of the resin material. Through experiments, the maximum temperature of $143^{\circ}C$ is obtained on the mold surface around the elliptic coil, while the temperature of the mold plate is lower than $60^{\circ}C$. An injection molding experiment is then performed with the aid of induction heating, and the effect of induction heating conditions on the surface appearance of the weldline is investigated.

  • The TR forging is a kind of continuous grain flow forging. The preform of crank shaft for TR forging process was a round bar with a ring groove. In the first stage, the preform was partly heated by induction heating and then forged by vertical and horizontal force in sequence. In this study, the simulation process of induction heating was proposed to evaluate the temperature distribution of preform for TR forging. The equivalent circuit method was adopted to find coil current of the preform with a various dimensions and power levels. With these results, the coupled electromagnetic and transient thermal analysis for induction heating was performed to evaluate the temperature distribution at the preform of crank shaft during induction heating process. This FE analysis technique with equivalent circuit method was verified by comparing the analysis results with the experimental results.

Analysis of Volatile Compounds in Bulgogi Prepared by Different Heating Procedure

  • To compare volatile compounds in bulgogi cooked by different heating procedures, bulgogi was prepared by convection oven, electric pan and charcoal grill. A total of 61 volatile compounds, consisting of 4 pyrazines, 10 sulfur-containing compounds, 7 carbonyls, 7 alcohols, 7 aliphatic hydrocarbons, 25 terpene hydrocarbons, and 1 miscellaneous compound, were tentatively identified in bulgogi cooked by the three heating methods. Comparatively, the difference in volatile compounds identified in bulgogi using the three different heating methods was not significant, except for sulfur-containing compounds and carbonyls which were detected at higher levels in the bulgogi cooked by convection oven than in that cooked by the other two heating methods. On the other hand, some compounds, such as furfural, benzaldehyde, and (E,E)-2,4-decadienal, were detected only in the bulgogi cooked by charcoal.

  • Multi-step induction heating process was applied to the powder compact melting technique as a new heating process to achieve pinpoint accuracy, faster cycle time, repeatability, non-contact and energy-efficient heat in a minimal amount of time. The objective of this study is the establishment of the input data diagram of multi step induction heating process for automation of the fabrication process of 6061 Al foams with desired density. At first, proper induction coil was designed to obtain a uniform temperature distribution over the entire cross sectional area of specimen. By using this coil, foaming experiments were performed to investigate the multi-step induction heating conditions such as capacity, temperature and time conditions of each heating and holding step. On the basis of the obtained multi-step induction heating conditions, relationship between final heating temperature and fraction of porosity was investigated.

Modeling of Passive Heating for Replicating Sub-micron Patterns in Optical Disk Substrates (단열층을 이용한 광디스크 기판 성형에 대한 수치 해석)

  • Transcribability of pit or land groove structures in replicating an optical disk substrate greatly affects the performance of a high-density optical disk. However, a solidified layer, generated during the polymer filling, deteriorates transcribability because the solidified layer prevents the polymer melt in filling the sub-micro patterns. Therefore, the development of the solidified layer during filling stage of injection molding must be delayed. For this delay, passive heating by insulation layer has been used. In the present study, to examine the development of the solidified layer delayed by passive heating, the flow of polymer melt with passive heating was analyzed. Passive heating markedly delayed the development of the solidified layer, reduced the viscosity of the polymer melt, and increased the fluidity of the polymer melt in the vicinity of the stamper surface with the sub-micro patterns. As a result, we predict that passive heating can improve transcribability of an optical disk substrate. To verify our prediction, we fabricated an optical disk substrate by using passive heating of a mold and measured the transcribability.
