  • The LED light source has many excellent advantages for the application of LCD backlight module. As we know, the operational temperature can significantly influence the characteristics of LEDs. Heat can damage the LED 's quality, and decrease its lifetime and output light intensity. In this paper, we perform computer software, Flomerics CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics), to simulate heat distribution of the 20.1" LED backlight module we designing, and realize how the different heat sinks can solve the serious heat problem in practice.

  • Heat stroke can lead multi-organ damage with hemorrhage and necrosis in the lungs, heart, liver, kidneys, brain and Ut. Heat stroke occurs when the elevation of core body temperatures induce a failure of thermoregulatory mechanism. A four-year-old male African Lion(Panthera leo) showed clinical signs such as panting, tachycardia, hyperthermia, unconsciousness and mydriasis under He hish humidity and hot weather. Clinical treatment and pouring cool water was unsuccessful. Grossly, congestion of lungs and pleura was observed. Yellowish discoloration was observed in the renal cortex. Microscopically, the coagulative necrosis in kidney and congestion of lungs and spleen were observed. In our knowledge, this case was closely associated with acute heat stroke.

  • When building with concrete in cold weather, an insulation method of heat curing must be determined, and a holistic curing plan that considers the characteristics of structures, the heat loss coefficient of a curing sheet, the joint condition of the curing materials and the quantity of heat produced by a heating apparatus is an essential prerequisite for protection against early frost damage. But on a number of national construction sites, there have been serious problems in cold weather concreting due to the unreliability of the information obtained from practical experience. In the construction field in Japan, there is a specification for heat curing prepared by Japanese Architectural Society, which provides an equation for calculating heat quantity. It is also necessary to adopt a detailed specification for a standard heat curing method that is applicable to all national construction sites. In this study, the effect of bubble sheets on the economic feasibility of cold weather concrete is investigated through a comparison with the blue sheets commonly prescribed in national construction sites. In conclusion, this study found that bubble sheets had the effect of reducing the cost of curing materials and the fuel cost consumed by a heating apparatus, compared to the use of blue sheets.

  • There are a variety of heat exchangers used in automobiles, such as shell and tube heat exchangers, double tube heat exchangers, and plate heat exchangers. Most of them are water-cooled to prevent engine overheating. There have been reports of corrosion damage to these heat exchangers due to continuous wetting caused by external temperature differences, road pollutants, and snow removal. In addition, galvanic corrosion, which occurs when two dissimilar materials come into contact, has been identified as a major cause. In this study, corrosion characteristics and galvanic corrosion behavior of Al alloy (AA3003, AA4045 and AA7072) used in automobile heat exchangers were analyzed. Effective clad materials for heat exchanger tubes and fins were also evaluated. It was found that AA7072 should be applied as the cladding material for fin AA3003 and that AA4045 was suitable as a cladding material for tube AA3003 because this clad materials application was the most effective clad design to delay the occurrence of pinhole in the tube. Main factors influencing galvanic corrosion dissolution were found to be galvanic corrosion potential difference and galvanic corrosion current density.

  • Effects of Ar ion damage prior to the phase transformation from pyrochlore to perovskite structure of PZT thin films have been investigated. As the degree of damage increased by increasing the acceleration voltage in the ion mass doping system, the phase transformation temperature decreased such that the temperature could be lowered down to 550$^{\circ}C$ when the film was damaged at 15 kV for 5 minutes. When the film was damaged prior to the heat treatment grain size of the perovskite thin films became less than 300${\AA}$. It turned out that relatively high value of the remanent polarization (about 30${\mu}$C/$\textrm{cm}^2$) as well as improvement of the fatigue characteristics to a large extent is closely related to the fine grain size of thus obtained PZT films.

  • Recently, to consider financial and constructive aspect, usage of Admixture, like Blast-Furnace Slag and Fly-Ash, are increased. Also the use of cold-weather-concrete is increased. Blast-furnace Slag, a by-product of steel industry, have many advantage, to reduce the heat of hydration, increase in ultimate strength and etc. But it also reduces early-age strength, so it is prevented from using of Blast-Furnace Slag at cold-weather-concrete. In this study, for the purpose of increasing usage of Blast-Furnace Slag at cold-weather-concrete, it is investigated the strength properties of concrete subjected to frost damage for the cause of early age curing. According to this study, if early curing is carried out before having frost damage, the strength of concrete, subjected to frost damage, is recovered. And that properties is not connected with the frost cause.

  • Extensive research with polarimetry and Mueller matrix has been done for chemical measurements and possible cancer detection. However, the effect of thermally denatured biological tissue on polarization changes is not well known. The purpose of this study is to characterize polarization changes in collagen due to thermal denaturation. The variations in polarized state caused by thermal damage were investigated by obtaining the Mueller matrix elements of collagen sample at multiple thermal damage levels. The changes in birefringence of denatured collagen were also investigated. This information could be used to determine the extent of thermal damage level of clinically heat treated tissues.
