In the present work, we synthesize nano-sized ZnO, $SnO_2$, and $TiO_2$ powders by hydrothermal reaction using metal chlorides. We also examine the energy-storage characteristics of the resulting materials to evaluate the potential application of these powders to dye-sensitized solar cells. The control of processing parameters such as pressure, temperature, and the concentration of aqueous solution results in the formation of a variety of powder morphologies with different sizes. Nano-rod, nano-flower, and spherical powders are easily formed with the present method. Heat treatment after the hydrothermal reaction usually increases the size of the powder. At temperatures above $1000^{\circ}C$, a complete collapse of the shape occurs. With regard to the capacity of DSSC materials, the hydrothermally synthesized $TiO_2$ results in the highest current density of $9.1mA/cm^2$ among the examined oxides. This is attributed to the fine particle size and morphology with large specific surface area.
Synthesis of hydroxyapatite (HA) was attempted through a room-temperature reaction of calcined eggshell with phosphoric acid. Ball-milled, calcined eggshell powder, which has a specific surface area of $31.6m^2/g$, was mixed with various concentrations of phosphoric acid at room temperature. The mixtures showed high reactivity and a vigorous exothermic reaction ; the reacted samples showed both $Ca(OH)_2$ and $CaHPO_4$ crystal phases. After heating at temperatures above $400^{\circ}C$, an HA crystal phase was observed in all samples. The calcined eggshell showed a pure CaO single phase, while the $Ca(OH)_2$ phase was only observed in the wet, ball-milled calcined powder. The degree of formation of the HA crystal phase increased as the phosphoric acid concentration and the heating temperature were increased. A mixture with 50 wt% phosphoric acid concentration showed a well-developed HA crystal phase after heat treatment at $800^{\circ}C$, while the formation of a more intensive amorphous phase was observed in the products of the room-temperature reaction.
Thin films of Pb(Zr,Ti)O$_3$ were fabricated by means of the sol-gel spin-coating method and the multi-coating of eight coating numbers. The thin films were dried on the temperature range of 250 ~ 400($^{\circ}C$), whenever the specimens were dried after each coating Processing. The fabricated ferroelectric thin films of lead zirconate titanate(PZT) were treated with the rapid thermal annealing(RTA) at 650($^{\circ}C$),or 3(min), and direct insertion thermal annealing(DITA) at 650($^{\circ}C$), for 30(min). The measured properties of dielectric thin films were following: The good results of dielectric properties were shown by the RTA specimen. The saturation polarization(Ps), remanent polarization(Pr), coercive field (Ec), dielectric constant and dielectric loss factor of the RTA specimen were estimated to be about 27.1[ $\mu$ C/$\textrm{cm}^2$], 13.7[ $\mu$ C/$\textrm{cm}^2$], 55.6(kV/cm), 786 and 6.4(%) respectively.
3D printing technology is a processing technology in which 3D structures are formed by fabricating multiple 2D layers of materials based on 3D designed digital data and stacking them layer by layer. Although layers are stacked using inkjet printing to release various materials, it is still rare for research to successfully form a product as an additive manufacture of multi-materials. In this study, dispersion conditions are optimized by adding a dispersant to an acrylic monomer suitable for inkjet printing using Co3O4 and Al2O3. 3D structures having continuous composition composed of a different ceramic material are manufactured by printing using two UV curable ceramic inks whose optimization is advanced. After the heat treatment, the produced structure is checked for the formation and color of the desired crystals by comparing the crystalline analysis according to the characteristics of each part of the structure with ceramic pigments made by solid phase synthesis method.
We manufactured the inkjet printing system for the application into the nano Ag finger line interconnection process in Si solar cells. The home-made inkjet printer consists of motion part for XY motion stage with optical table, head part, power and control part in the rack box with pump, and ink supply part for the connection of pump-tube-sub ink tanknozzle. The ink jet printing system has been used to conduct the interconnection process of finger lines on Si solar cell. The nano ink includes the 50 nm-diameter. Ag nano particles and the viscosity is 14.4 cP at $22^{\circ}C$. After processing of inkjet printing on the finger lines of Si solar cell, the nano particles were measured by scanning electron microscope. After the heat treatment at $850^{\circ}C$, the finger lines showed the smooth surface morphology without micropores.
Synthesis and process development of nano-size Ti powder by SFE(Sodium/halide Flame Encapsulation) method were investigated. Four concentric coflow burner was used and its flame configuration was $TiCl_4/Ar/Na/Ar$ in order from the center. Flame has been controlled by the various processing parameters such as temperature of burner and flow rates of both $TiCl_4$(g) precursor and Na(g). It was found that yellow-colored flame was shown in the flow rates of 70cc/min of $TiCl_4$(g) precursor and 2 $\ell$ /min of Na(g) which were regarded as optimum flame condition. The powders encapsuled by NaCl were produced having the average powder size of 250nm. The results of X-ray diffraction showed that powders from the optimized condition consisted of pure Ti and NaCl. TEM analysis confirmed that the several Ti powders of 20-100nm were encapsulated with NaCl. After removing sodium chloride by heat treatment, the spherical Ti powders with the size range of 80 to 150nm were obtained.
Various organic acid were used in order to prepare new metalorganic deposition solution for high quality $REBa_2Cu_3O_{7-{\delta}}$ (RE=Y, Eu, Gd) films. Prepared fluorine free MO precursor solution was coated on single crystal (001) $LaAlO_3$ (LAO) by dip coating method. Processing parameters such as oxygen partial pressure, water vapor, ramping rate and pyrolysis temperature etc havebeen controlled in order to make high $J_c$ films with a good epitaxial relationship with substrate. 0.5 micron-thick film was obtained by single coating and no crack appeared after calcination. Oxygen partial pressure was varied in the range of $100{\sim}1,000 ppm$ and conversion heat treatment was carried out at the temperature of $725{\sim}765^{\circ}C$. A critical transition temperature $(T_{c0})$ of 90K and a critical transport current density $(J_c)$ of $>0.5MA/cm^2$ (77K and self-field) were demonstrated for the YBCO film on (001) oriented LAO substrates with a thickness of 0.5 micron. $I_c$ was determined by utilizing a transport measurement. SEM and XRD investigations confirmed that films were grown epitaxially onto the LAO single crystal substrate. It is thought that fluorine free new MOD solutionis promising for high quality REBCO films.
Biaxially textured Ni tapes were fabricated by a cold working and recrystallization heat treatment processes from powder compact rods. The processing parameters associated with the cube texture formation in Ni tapes were systematically investigated by using X-ray diffraction and pole-figure analysis. The Ni powder used in this study was 5 $\mu$m in size and 99.99% in purity. To find the optimum sintering temperature, tensile tests were performed for Ni rods sintered at various temperatures. The Ni rods sintered at 100$0^{\circ}C$ showed poor elongation and low fracture strength, while the Wi rods sintered above 100$0^{\circ}C$ revealed good mechanical properties. The higher elongation and fracture strength of the Ni rods sintered at higher temperatures than 100$0^{\circ}C$ are attributed to the full densification of the sintered rods. The sintered Ni rods were cold-rolled with 5% reduction to the final thickness of 100 $\mu$m and then annealed for development of rube texture in rolled Ni tapes. The annealed Ni tapes depicted strong cube texture with FWHM(full-width at half-maximum) of in-plane and out-of-plane in the range of 8$^{\circ}$ to 10$^{\circ}$. The NiO deposited on the Ni tapes by MOCVD process showed good epitaxy with FWHM=10$^{\circ}$, which indicates that the Ni tapes can be used as a substrate for YBCO coated conductors.
The role of Nb addition in the tension and corrosion responses of ferrite-based stainless-steel sheets processed by cold-rolling and annealing treatment at 1173 °K was studied to evaluate the possibility for commercialization. For this purpose, the grain sizes in the samples with and without Nb content were controlled to be reasonably identical by utilizing different heat treatments within the specific range for 60 seconds. The corrosion properties of both samples were evaluated based on the analysis of polarization curves. Room-temperature tension testing showed that the strength of the sample with Nb was much higher than that without Nb whereas the elongation of the sample with Nb was slightly lower than that without Nb. The polarization curves revealed that the addition of Nb contributed to the significant improvement in protective capabilities. We thought that such combinational behavior was mainly due to the formation of niobium carbides found in the ferritic matrix.
In this work, a study on the 5-axis machining of ball gear cam is conducted which is a continuation of reference [1]. The ball gear cam used in this study delivers motion in conjunction with the ball supported by the turret. Therefore, it requires carbonizing heat treatment and is usually completed using a 4-axis machining with a carbide ball end mill. If the nose part of the ball end mill is not allowed to participate in the machining, then CBN tools without the nose part can be used. However, machining of certain shapes can be carried out only by contacting the ball in some of the areas on either side which can improve the surface of the machining. This requires a 5-axis machining in order to maintain a constant angle for the processing path. Therefore, in this work, the 5-axis machining method is studied in order to maintain the direction of the cutter axis at a constant angle with the tangent direction of the curve-ball gear cam. Furthermore, the 5-axis machining program for the ball gear cam was developed and the machining experiment was completed and verified.
