The participants of this study were 200 college students in a region and collected data by self-reported questionnaire. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, correlation analysis and stepwise multiple regression analysis. The results were as follows: 1) The physical-health status of the college students was positively correlated with the subjective perception of health status(${\beta}=-.323$, p<.01), health awareness(${\beta}=-.278$, p<.01), gender(${\beta}=-.197$, p<.01), and breakfast habit(${\beta}=-.192$, p<.01). And the explanatory power($R_2$) by 4 variables was 33.1%. As a result, it was confirmed that strengthening subjective perception, positive reinforcement of health awareness, and habit of breakfast were important for improvement of physical health status. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a health promotion program based on the factors influencing on the physical health status and to analyze its application effect.

  • There are many concerns about the smoking among adolescents. Smoking status, smoking habit and dietary habit of high school students were studied using anonymous questionnaires. One hundred fifteen of 380 students(30.3%) have experienced smoking and 58.3% of them initiated it in the middle school, mostly because of the curiosity. The most plausible reasons for smoking were for stress reduction and feel bored. The students who smoked cigarettes were not likely to eat properly and their dietary habits were generally inadequate. The smoking group had less consideration of food balance, more skipping breakfast, more irregular meal time, less snack, and less frequent intake of vegetables. Also one-day dietary records obtained from 24hr recall showed less diverse food intake in smoking students. Considering the risk of poor eating behavior in smoking, nutritional care should be taken to emphasize as well as the smoking prevention and health programs, and more attention needs to be given to the relationship between smoking and the attitude and the behavior of smoking students toward their health, including proper eating habits. Since the results revealed that the majority of smoking students had previously attempted or thought about quitting to smoke, proper support programs that are more comprehensive and not temporal need to be developed.

Methods: The survey was conducted with 282 students at 5 nursing schools in Seoul, Incheon, Chungcheongbuk, and Jeollabuk Province. Data were collected from October, 2013 to January, 2014. Data analyses including descriptive analysis, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, Spearman's rank correlation coefficients, and multiple regression were performed using SPSS 21.0. Results: In multiple regression, habit of standing on force of one feet (${\beta}=.23$, p<.001), habit of sleeping on one's back (${\beta}=-.19$, p=.020), habit of resting the chin on one's hands (${\beta}=.15$, p=.029), and habit of carrying a bag on one shoulder (${\beta}=.12$, p=.011) were associated with low back pain experienced by nursing students. These factors accounted for 12.9% of the variance in the low back pain in undergraduate students. Conclusion: These results suggest that low back pain in nursing students are related to their habits of posture in daily life. Therefore, intervention program to encourage healthy postural habits can be effective to prevent low back pain in nursing students.
