Recently, most of mobile devices are equipped with GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System). When the GNSS signal is available, it is easy to obtain position information. However, GNSS is not suitable solution for indoor localization, since the signals are normally not reachable inside buildings. A wide varieties of technology have been developed as a solution for indoor localization such as Wi-Fi, beacons, and inertial sensor. With the increased sensor combinations in mobile devices, mobile devices also became feasible to provide a solution, which based on PDR (Pedestrian Dead Reckoning) method. In this study, we utilized the combination of three sensors equipped in mobile devices including accelerometer, digital compass, and gyroscope and applied three representative PDR methods. The proposed methods are done in three stages; step detection, step length estimation, and heading determination and the final indoor localization result was evaluated with terrestrial LiDAR (Light Detection And Ranging) data obtained in the same test site. By using terrestrial LiDAR data as reference ground truth for PDR in two differently designed experiments, the inaccuracy of PDR methods that could not be found by existing evaluation method could be revealed. The firstexperiment included extreme direction change and combined with similar pace size. Second experiment included smooth direction change and irregular step length. In using existing evaluation method which only checks traveled distance, The results of two experiments showed the mean percentage error of traveled distance estimation resulted from three different algorithms ranging from 0.028 % to 2.825% in the first experiment and 0.035% to 2.282% in second experiment, which makes it to be seen accurately estimated. However, by using the evaluation method utilizing terrestrial LiDAR data, the performance of PDR methods emerged to be inaccurate. In the firstexperiment, the RMSEs (Root Mean Square Errors) of x direction and y direction were 0.48 m and 0.41 m with combination of the best available algorithm. However, the RMSEs of x direction and y direction were 1.29 m and 3.13 m in the second experiment. The new evaluation result reveals that the PDR methods were not effective enough to find out exact pedestrian position information opposed to the result from existing evaluation method.
In this paper, in order to verify the performance of a localization algorithm using GPS as an auxiliary sensor, the algorithm was applied to a hovering-type autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) to perform a field test. The applied algorithm is an algorithm to improve the accumulated positional error of dead reckoning using doppler velocity logger(DVL) and tilt-compensated compass module (TCM) mounted on the AUV. GPS when surfaced helps the algorithm to estimate the position and the heading bias error of TCM for geodetic north, which makes it possible to perform dead reckoning on north-east-down (NED) coordinates. As a result of field test performing heading control, it was judged that the algorithm could improve the positional error, enhance the operational capability of AUV and contribute to the research of underwater navigation depending on a magnetic compass.
This study conducted an initialization test to decide dynamic position using AHRS IMU sensor, and derived attitude correction angles of vehicles against time through regression analysis. It was also found that the heading angle was stabilized with variation less than 1°after 60 seconds. Using these angles, this study carried out an experiment on the determination of dynamic position for each system in the open sky and in a semi-open sky. According to the results, in the open sky, DGPS alone systems were excellent in accuracy but poor in data acquisition, so the moving distance was around 12m. In DGPS/IMU combined system, accuracy and data acquisition were satisfactory and the moving distance was around 0.3m. In a semi-open sky, DGPS alone systems were excellent in accuracy in order of DGPS < FIMU < DGPS/IMU according to average and standard errors obtained with exclusion of places where data were not be obtained. The moving distance was the same as that in the open sky. For DGPS, when places where data were not obtainable were divided into Several block and they were compared, the maximum deviation from the trajectory was up to 41.5m in DGPS alone system, but it was less than 2.2m and average and standard errors were significantly improved in the combined system. When the navigation system was applied to surveys and the result was compared with position error 0.2mm under the guideline for digital map, it was possible to work on maps on a scale of up to 1 : 1,000.

The underwater glider using conception of Lagrangian method, is a new observation platform to understand the properties of the ocean vertically. In 2011 March, KORDI made a first successful autonomous trip from Hupo to west coast of Uleungdo piloting Littoral Glider of Alaska Native Technology LLC. The journey considered many environmental variables and route vigilantly selected, the glider covered 177 km horizontally and took approximately 6 days (153 hours). Despite the existence of 1 kt eddy current, Sound velocity sampling was conducted from 5 meters and reaching maximum of 200 meters depth at each dive. It successfully collected sound velocity and temperature profile at every 5 seconds totaling up to 1408 profiles using SVT&P sensor. During the flight it was also a mission to check the diverse modes of the glider i.e. spiral, waypoints, heading, drift and hover could function without a defect in a given situation. These modes were thoroughly monitored and it could be considered that the glider handled it well during the flight. As a result of this test flight, it was evident that the given underwater glider could operate under 2kt current environment with users defined heading and depth, also with the payload up to 5 kg without changing internal buoyancy.

This paper describes the design and performance of a hovering AUV 'NOAH' constructed at Jeju National University. We analyse the dynamic performance of NOAH using simulation program and carry out depth control test at small basin. The main purpose of NOAH is to carry out fundamental tests on its attitude control and position control. Its configuration is similar to general ROV appearance for underwater works and dimension is $0.75m{\times}0.5m{\times}0.5m$. It has 4 thrusters of 450watt for longitudinal/lateral/vertical propulsion and is equipped with a pressure sensor for measuring water depth and a magnetic compass for measuring heading angle. The navigation of the vehicle is controlled by an on-board Pentium III-class computer, which runs with the help of the Windows XP operating system. These give us an ideal environment for developing various algorithm which are needed for developing and advanced hovering AUV.

In this paper, we propose a motion and position recognition technique considering an experiential VR environment. Motion recognition attaches a plurality of AHRS devices to a body part and defines a coordinate system based on this. Based on the 9 axis motion information measured from each AHRS device, the user's motion is recognized and the motion angle is corrected by extracting the joint angle between the body segments. The location recognition extracts the walking information from the inertial sensor of the AHRS device, recognizes the relative position, and corrects the cumulative error using the BLE fingerprint. To realize the proposed motion and position recognition technique, AHRS-based position recognition and joint angle extraction test were performed. The average error of the position recognition test was 0.25m and the average error of the joint angle extraction test was $3.2^{\circ}$.
A small UAVs(Unmaned Aerial Vehicles) have limited by the payload capacity which requires miniaturization of a navigation system. In this paper, the performance of the lightweight and small sized AHRS(Attitude Heading Reference System), which is self-developed, is evaluated at low acceleration environment. The designed AHRS adopts the commercial low-cost MEMS sensors. A quaternion-based attitude calculation method, which eliminates singularity with relatively simple algebra, is used. In an attitude correction algorithm, the Kalman filter is used with accelerometers and magnetometers combined. The fabricated AHRS is also evaluated with reference to a COTS(Commercial Off-The-Shelf) AHRS which reports a number of successful applications to a small UAVs. The test results show that the measurements from the fabricated AHRS provide proper attitude output data with acceptable amount of differences(horizontal axis 0.5$^{\circ}$, vertical axis 1.5$^{\circ}$) in test environment.

This paper proposes a vehicle to road tracking algorithm based on vision sensor by using EKF(Extended Kalman Filter). The lateral offset, heading angle, and curvature which are obtained from vehicle to road tracking might be used as inputs to steering controller of LKAS(Lane Keeping Assist System) or for the warning decision logic of LDWS(Lane Departure Warning System). To the end, in this paper, the yaw rate, steering angle, and vehicle speed as well as lane raw points together with considering of vehicle lateral dynamics are utilized to improve the exactness and convergence of the vehicle to road tracking. The proposed algorithm has been tested at a proving ground that consists of straight and curve sections and compared with GPS datum using DGPS-RTK equipment to show the feasibility of the proposed algorithm.
In this study, we developed low cost INS and (D)GPS integration for continuous attitude and position and utilized it for the determination of exterior orientation parameters of image sensors which are equipped in 4S-Van. During initial alignment process, the heading information was extracted from twin GPS and fine alignment with Kalman filter was performed for the determination of roll and pitch. Simulation and van test were performed for the performance analysis. Based on simulation result, roll and pitch error is around 0.01-0.03 degrees and yaw error around 0.1 degrees. Based on van test, position error in linear road is around 10 cm and curve around 1 m. Using direct georeferencing method, the image sensor's orientation and position information can be acquired directly from (D)GPS/INS integration. 4S-Van achieved 3D spatial data using (D)GPS/INS and image data can be applied to the spatial data integration and application such as contemporary digital map update, road facility management and Video GIS DB.
Purpose: In this paper, we propose an indoor positioning scheme based on pedestrian dead reckoning using inertial measurement unit. By minimizing the effects of the orientation error of smart-phone, the more accurate estimation for the direction, the step count, and the stride can be achieved. Method: The effectiveness and the performance of the proposed scheme is evaluated by experiments, and it is compared with the conventional scheme in the same conditions. Result: The results showed that the positioning error of the proposed scheme was 0.76m, while that of the conventional scheme was 1.84m. Conclusion: Sine most people carry his/her own smart-phone, the proposed scheme can be helpful to recognize where he/she was and was heading when the fast evacuation is needed in indoors.
