  • This study is aimed to analyze the effect of lactic acid bacteria inoculants (LAB) on quality of rye silage fermentation, harvested at early heading stage. The nutritive values were similar between the control and LAB inoculated silages. The pH of rye silage in LAB inoculation significantly decreased as compared to control (p<0.05). In addition, the content of lactic acid in LAB inoculation significantly increased (p<0.05), but the content of acetic acid in LAB treatments decreased. In addition, lactic acid bacterial counts in LAB inoculation significantly increased as compared to control (p<0.05). Therefore, we suggest that rye silage could be improved by novel lactic acid inoculation.

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the weed suppressing effects of different cropping system including hairy vetch and rye cover crops, polyethylene plastic film, and transplanting film mulching in direct sowing and transplanted foxtail millet field in 2011. Crop growth and development and weed occurrences in the fields were examined to know the efficiency of proposed cropping system. In polyethylene film mulching treatment, heading date of foxtail millet was earlier by 4 days than control, on the other hands, rye cover crop mulching delayed heading date by 8 days. Besides the effect of cover crop on the heading of foxtail millet, the residues changed growth characteristics. Plant height of foxtail millet was increased by 92.4% at hairy vetch treatment although the height of was reduced by 63.7% in the rye cover crop treatment. Hairy vetch treatment showed beneficial effects on foxtail millet growth reduced the occurrences of grasses and broadleaf weeds higher than 90%, as compared to control in foxtail millet fields. While rye cover crop treatment showed poor foxtail millet growth reduced less strongly grasses and broad-leaf weeds by 47% and 90%, respectively. At harvest, yield of foxtail millet was greater in order of hairy vetch cover crop > polyethylene film mulching > rye cover crop ${\fallingdotseq}$ control in both transplanted and direct sown fields.

  • This study was carried out to introduce of agronomic characteristics, forage yields and quality of Sorghum ${\times}$ Sudangrass hybrids 'Cadan 99B' and 'Sweet Sioux WMR' from 2015 to 2016 in middle and southern regions of Korea. The field experiment design was randomized compete block in seven varieties with three repetitions. Sorghum ${\times}$ Sudangrass hybrids were sown in mid-May in middle region, and end-May in southern region of Korea, 2015 and 2016. And, the first harvests were from the end of July to the beginning of August, and the second harvests were from the end of September to the beginning of October in middle and southern regions of Korea. The observed average heading date of Sorghum ${\times}$ Sudangrass hybrids Cadan 99B and Sweet Sioux WMR were July 22. The heading date of Cadan 99B and Sweet Sioux WMR were 8 days earlier than heading control variety SX-17 and 5 days earlier than BMR control Revolution. The sugar contents of Candan 99B and Sweet Sioux WMR were 6.5 and $6.9Brix^{\circ}$, respectively. Comparison with brown mid-rid (BMR) variety, the sugar contents of Cadan 99B and Sweet Sioux WMR were 0.2 and $0.6Brix^{\circ}$ higher than Revolution, respectively. The average of dry matter (DM) yield for 2 years and 2 regions of Cadan 99B (24,587kg/ha) was the highest among the seven varieties, but there was no significant difference among other varieties except headless control variety Jumbo (19,119kg/ha) and test variety LATTE (20,778kg/ha) (p>0.05). The crude protein (CP) and in vitro dry matter digestibility (IVDMD) of Cadan 99B were 7.5% and 60.2%, and Sweet Sioux WMR were 6.9% and 60.7%, respectively. The results of this study indicated that Sorghum ${\times}$ Sudangrass hybrids Cadan 99B and Sweet Sioux WMR were recommended that earlier heading date than other varieties, suitable for silage because of high sugar contents, and high yields of DM in middle and southern regions of Korea.

  • The conductivity test is a measure of electrolytes leakage from plant tissue. The shorter the maturation period after heading was the greater electrical conductivity (EC) of rice seed. The polymer-coated seed was not different in EC compared with non-coated seed. As soaking time of rice seed increased, EC increased gradually. The EC varied from 9.9 to 20.7$\mu$S $cm^{-1}g^{-l}$ for control plots and from 21.3 to 41.7$\mu$S $cm^{-1}g^{-l}$ for heat-killed seeds which were produced by autoclaving seeds at 121$^{\circ}C$ for 20 minutes. The germination speed (the rate of 5th day) of rice seed was 94% at control plot, 83% at low temperature and 20% at high temperature. Besides, germination percentage was 95% for the control, 92% for the low temperature treatment and 39% for the high temperature treatment. The EC was negatively correlated (r=-0.771$^{**}$) with germination percentage at low temperature. Water uptake in seeds of 30, 40, 50 days after heading (DAH) was greater than that of 20 DAH. Plant height of seedlings was 9.84 cm for the control but 4.32 cm for the high temperature treatment, and the tallest for polymer-coated seed. Dry weight of seedlings was 0.841 g for the control and 0.287 g at high temperature. Besides, the polymer-coated seed was heavier than non-coated seed. The number of roots was largest from 40 to 50 DAH and polymer-coated seed, but was decreased from 20 to 30 DAH. The length of roots was 20.52 cm at control plot and 19.89 cm polymer-coated seed but 8.68 cm for the low temperature treatment and 7.28 cm for the high temperature treatment.

  • With the mining depth continuously increasing, gas emission behaviors become more and more complex. Gas emission is an important basis for choosing the method of gas drainage, gas controlling. Thus, the accurate prediction of gas emission is of great significance for coal mine. In this work, based on the sources of gas emission from the heading faces and the fluid-solid coupling process, we established a gas continuous dynamic emission model, numerically simulated and applied it to the engineering. The result was roughly consistent with the actual situation and shows the model is correct. We proposed the measures of reducing the excavation distance and borehole gas drainage based on the model. The measures were applied and the result shows the overproof problem of gas emission disappears. The model considered the influence factors of gas emission wholly, and has a wide applicability, promotional value. The research is of great significance for the controlling of gas disaster, gas drainage and pre-warning coal and gas outbursts based on gas emission anomaly at the heading face.

  • When the low cost IMU is used, the result of the stationary self alignment is not suitable for navigation. In this paper, an in-motion alignment method is proposed to obtain an accurate initial attitude of a low cost IMU based GPS/INS integration system. To design Kalman filter for alignment, large heading error model is introduced. And then Kalman filter is designed to estimate initial attitude error as the indirect feedback filter. In order to assess performance of the alignment method, computer simulations are carried out. The simulation results show that initial attitude error rapidly reduces.
