  • The dynamic response of a finite Bernoulli-Euler beam resting on a tensionless Pasternak foundation and subjected to a concentrated harmonic load is investigated in this study. This load may be applied at the center of the beam, or it may be offset from the center. Since the elastic foundation is assumed to be tensionless, the beam may lift off the foundation, resulting in contact and non-contact regions in the system. An analytical/numerical solution is obtained from the governing equations of the contact and non-contact regions to determine the coordinates of the lift-off points. Although there is no nonlinear term in the equations, the problem appears to be nonlinear since the contact regions are not known in advance. Due to that nonlinearity, the essentials of the problem (the coordinates of the lift-off points) are calculated numerically using the Newton-Raphson technique. The results, which represent the symmetric and asymmetric responses of the beam, are presented graphically in this work. They illustrate the effects of the forcing frequency and the beam length on the extent of the contact regions and displacements.

  • In current paper, nonlocal (NLT), nonlocal strain gradient (NSGT) and Gurtin-Murdoch surface/interface (GMSIT) theories with classical theory (CT) are utilized to investigate vibration and stability analysis of Double Walled Piezoelectric Nanosensor (DWPENS) based on cylindrical nanoshell. DWPENS simultaneously subjected to direct electrostatic voltage DC and harmonic excitations, structural damping, two piezoelectric layers and also nonlinear van der Waals force. For this purpose, Hamilton's principle, Galerkin technique, complex averaging and with arc-length continuation methods are used to analyze nonlinear behavior of DWPENS. For this work, three nonclassical theories compared with classical theory CT to investigate Dimensionless Natural Frequency (DNF), pull-in voltage, nonlinear frequency response and stability analysis of the DWPENS considering the nonlocal, material length scale, surface/interface (S/I) effects, electrostatic and harmonic excitation.

  • A modeling of machined geometry and cutting force was proposed for the case of round shape machining, and the effects of internally machined profile are analyzed and its realiability was verified by the experiments of roundness tester, especially in boring operation in lathe. Also, harmonic cutting force model was proposed with the parameter of specific cutting force, chip width and chip thickness, and in this study, we can see that bored workpiece profile was also mapped into cutting force signal with this model. In general, we can calculated the theoretical lobe profile with arbitrary multilobe. But in real experiments, the most frequently measured numbers are 3 and 5 lobe profile in experiments. With this results, we can predict that these results may be applied to round shape machining such as drilling, boring, ball screw and internal grinding operation with the same method.

  • In this study, the experimental open-tube and close-tube thermoacoustic apparatuses were built. In order to determine the optimum length of resonant tube and the optimum length of stack, the resonant characteristics of thermoacoustic apparatuses were investigated, The length of resonant tube varies from 400mm to 850mm. The experimental frequency varies from 100Hz to 1000Hz. In case of the second and third harmonics, the maximum temperature difference of open-tube thermoacoustic apparatus is 53$^{\circ}C$ (resonator length: 400mm) and the maximum temperature difference of closed-tube thermoacoustic apparatus is 51$^{\circ}C$ (resonator length: 500mm). In the open-tube thermoacoustic apparatus, the peak efficiency point is about 2%, 55%, 69% in the resonant tube and in the closed-tube thermoacoustic apparatus, the peak efficiency point is about 2%, 41%, 50% in the resonant tube.

  • This paper designed the horn of half-wave needed for Ultrasonic meta) welding. The horn has to be designed and manufactured accurately, because measurements such as the shape, length, mass and etc. have effects on the resonant frequency and the vibration mode. Designed horn of half-wave has the feature of 40,000Hz of nature frequency, and maximizes vibration range in the Tip by resonance in the frequency of ultrasonic wave machine. In this study, we calculated and analyzed the natural frequency to find the optimal design of the horn that amplified the amplitude about double by the modal analysis and harmonic analysis using ANSYS. And we did FFT analysis of the manufactured horn.

  • Axially damped forced vibration responses of viscoelastic nanorods are investigated within the frame of the modal analysis. The nonlocal elasticity theory is used in the constitutive relation of the nanorod with the Kelvin-Voigt viscoelastic model. In the forced vibration problem, a cantilever nanorod subjected to a harmonic load at the free end of the nanorod is considered in the numerical examples. By using the modal technique, the modal expressions of the viscoelastic nanorods are presented and solved exactly in the nonlocal elasticity theory. In the numerical results, the effects of the nonlocal parameter, damping coefficient, geometry and dynamic load parameters on the dynamic responses of the viscoelastic nanobem are presented and discussed. In addition, the difference between the nonlocal theory and classical theory is investigated for the damped forced vibration problem.

  • With biological effects by ELF (Extremely Low Frequency) magnetic field generated from power system, the transient magnetic field from electric appliances is a major issue presently. Because the transient magnetic field induces higher current than the power frequency field inside living bodies, transient magnetic field exposure has been much focused. In this paper, it is shown that transient magnetic field from electric home appliances can be characterized as magnetic dipole moment. In this method, the dipole moment vector is assumed by allowing an uncertainty of 6dB in the estimated field. A parameter M that represents biological interaction was applied also. The proposed method was applied to 7 types of appliances (hair drier, heater, VDT, etc.) and their equivalent magnetic dipole moment and harmonic components were estimated. As the results, the useful data for quantifying magnetic field distribution around electric appliances were obtained.

  • Most of the loads in industrial power distribution systems are balanced and connected to three wires power systems. However, in the user power distribution systems, most of the loads are single & three phase and unbalanced, generating a large amount of non-characteristic harmonics. With the advent of power electronics and proliferation of non-linear loads in industrial power applications, power harmonics and their effects on power quality are a topic of concern. Harmonics by the unbalance voltage and non-linear loads, cause the increase of machine loss and heating. In order to allow current harmonic compensation, a filter must be installed. This paper describes the performance of passive filter under the voltage unbalance and non-linear load.

  • The line of sight(LOS) is affected by the vibration of spacecraft. It is necessary to predict the effect of disturbance on LOS stability. Reaction wheel assembly is anticipated to be the largest disturbance source on spacecraft. The disturbance which is occurred mainly due to the mass imbalance is analyzed with harmonic numbers. The accuracy and stability are verified by probability density function with dynamic equation of the satellite motion.

  • A study on the dynamic vibration absorber with coil spring and oil damper was carried out both theoretically and experimentally. A main mass is attached to a foundation using coil spring and oil damper. A harmonic motion was applied to the foundation. The effects of the dynamic vibration sbsorber are theoretically summarized in graphs, and tested on a vibratory model for the isolation of actual mechanical vibration. As a result, the first resonance amplitude ratio increased and the second resonance amplitude ratio decreased as the absorber spring constant increased. When the absorber mass increase, the first resonance amplitude ratio is decreased and the second resonace amplitude ratio is increased.
