The annual variation of mesozooplankton community in the Jangmok harbor of Jinhae Bay was studied in relation to environmental variables. Sampling was carried out weekly from January to December 2009. During the study periods, mesozooplankton community consisted of 44 taxa and the annual mean abundance was 8308 inds. $m^{-3}$. The maximum abundance was observed to be 50043 inds. $m^{-3}$ in August and the minimum in April with 1013 inds. $m^{-3}$. Of these, Penilia avirostris, cirripedia larvae, Evadne tergestina, Acartia omorii, Oikopleura s, Paracalanus parvus s. l., Eurytemora pacifica, Podon s, Oithona s, and Acartia steueri were observed as dominant species in Jangmok bay and they also contributed to 79% of total mesozooplankton. According to non-metric multidimensional scaling (nMDS) and cluster analysis based on the mesozooplankton community data from each season, the community was divided into three groups. The first group included appearence species in winter and spring season, which is mainly dominated the copepod such as A. omorii and E. pacifica. The second and third group was composed with observed species in summer and autumn, respectively. Based on the SIMPER (similarity percentages), P. avirostris in summer and cirripedia larvae in autumn were significantly dominated. Our results indicate that although the mesozooplankton abundances in Jangmok harbor fluctuated abruptly, its annual variation was strongly influenced by water temperature.

Mobile harbor is characterized by the lightweight compact structure when compared to the conventional above-ground port container crane. A new concept RORI crane system, which was devised for mobile harbor to satisfy the compactness and light weightness, not only can load/unload containers with high speed on sea but can be completely folded at maneuvering mode. This study is concerned with the tip deflection of the horizontal boom of mobile harbor at container loading operation. Both the theoretical method utilizing the Castigliano's theorem and the numerical approach by finite element method are employed, and the reliability of the latter approach is verified through the comparison with the theoretical results. And then, the effect of the initial cable tension on the tip deflection is parametrically examined by the finite element analysis.
E-commerce has not only brought about a great change in the way we exchange goods and services but also revolutionized the way we handle business transactions. In addition, it has a significant influence upon the present business structure, and most of firms in service industry as well as manufacturing are considering adopting E-commerce in a serious manner. Most vessels purchase merchandises through a number of shipping agents. As the amount of harbor materials increase, the number of vessels and their navigation frequency also increase. As a result, the amount of procurement for ships has increased. Traditional means such as telephone and fax to handle ever-increasing harbor transaction, however, has proved to be very time-consuming and cost ineffective. Therefore, people are starting to look for more effective ways. In this paper, an internet-based scheme of B2B transaction is proposed to handle procurement problem between shipping agency and shipping company, and between vessel and suppliers as a more effective approach to streamline such problems. We extract problems of shipping agency through task-analysis and present a scheme that performs decision making and procurement as a system agent with brokering structure. Purchaser and supplier are offered material information rapidly and task loads are minimized by the scheme. Also, the system can support decision making of purchasing goods, and information is shared among purchaser, supplier and system through the system interface.

Numerical model experiments of wave transformation due to the reclamation and the construction of breakwater in case of 50 years design wave were performed using time dependent mild slope equation included shoaling, refraction, diffraction, reflection and wave breaking. As waves propagate to the shore, wave height gradually diminishes by the bottom friction and wave breaking etc.. After the reclamation and the construction of 75 m length breakwater, wave height distributions in the lee of breakwater have the range of 29~128 cm. To make better the harbor tranquility the length of breakwater needs to extend more than 100 m. After the construction of breakwater, wave height in the lee of the structure was deduced over 80%.

The purpose of this paper is to present and discuss some of harbor foundation constructed on seashore soft ground by Deep Wing Mixing in deep mixing method. A series of laboratory and field experiments including unconfined compressive strength, permeability, geo-physical survey, sea water concentration, lateral and settlement measurement, field core sample were carried out to check physical, mechanical and environmental characteristics of solidified foundation soil treated by HWS solidifying agent. The results from this research showed that Deep Wing Mixing method could be efficiently applied in the construction site of seashore structure foundation.

Most of small harbours are suffering serious harbour siltation problems in the eastern coast of Korea. Also, many of them necessitate maintenance dredging every year. In order to solve these problems, we have to predict the amount of previous harbour siltation. In the present study, numerical prediction of the harbour siltation has been accomplished using numerical model of 3D beach deformation around a structure. And, also the validity of the model has been confirmed by the field investigation.

Reliability-based durability model was developed to consider the uncertainty of analysis variables in durability model for harbor concrete structures. The durability analysis program based on Finite Element Method (FEM) was modified adopting the reliability concept to estimate the probability of durability failure. Water-cement ratio in the durability analysis is the most important factor influencing chloride diffusion coefficient, evaporable water, etc. The probability distribution of water-cement ratio was calculated converting standard deviations of compressive strength in Concrete Standard Code to those of water-cement ratio. Based on the Monte Carlo Simulation, the probabilities of penetration depth and durability failure were calculated.

Coastal wave and tide information is very important in various occasions for port and harbor engineers, in the stages such as port and harbor planning, maritime structure design, maritime construction management, and coastal disaster study This paper introduces recent improvement of Japanese coastal wave-tide observation and information system named as NOWPHAS (Nationwide Ocean Wave information network for Ports and HArbourS). Development and improvement of the NOWPHAS has been achieved during recent decade in the following points of view (Nagai,2002a,2002b). (omitted)

When waves propagating over an underwater shoal break at the top of the shoal, wave heights are drastically decreased in the downstream breaking zone, but a secondary current shooting downstream with strong velocity can be induced by the breaking waves themselves. In the case that an offshore structure is placed in the breaking zone, the estimation of wave farce purely based on the visible wave height may cause an under-design of the structure. Thus, for the safe design of the structure, the breaking wave induced current should be necessarily considered in the comprehensive estimation of design load. In the present study, Boussinesq equation model to calculate the wave height distribution and breaking wave induced current was set up and applied to the scheme of a hydraulic model test previously undertaken. Based on the results of the Boussinesq model, fluid forces acting on the model structure were calculated and compared with the experimental results. The importance of the breaking wave induced current was quantitatively assessed by comparing fluid forces with or without current.

Most construction methods for the repair and reinforcement of old reinforced concrete harbor structures involve a process of applying a fiber complex or fiber complex panel just like wallpaper to the bottom of structures, such as slabs or beams. On the other hand, these techniques result in the sealing of repaired and reinforced portions of the structures by the fiber products, preventing moisture, such as rainwater entering the structures through the upper surfaces of the slabs or beams from being released, and causing the entire concrete covering of the structures to be peeled off in the long run. To prevent this, it is necessary to develop a technique to protect the basic salt from the sea water from penetrating into the structures while expelling the water absorbed in the structures swiftly. This study attempted to solve the problem by modifying the anchor bolts currently used to repair and reinforce the port structure. That is, by drilling holes into the body of anchor bolts and modifying the caps of the bolts to produce a structure that would let the water flow like a toilet trap, the moisture inside of the structure could be drained through the holes in the anchor bolts. The water discharge anchor bolts developed were tested and observed for 6 months; the water was discharged in 73% of the anchors (200 anchor installation, 145 anchors).
