This paper proposes a method of extracting connected strokes and characters in a Hangeul document image represented by a quadtree. Connected strokes are extracted by examining adjacency for each node of a black region to the side of east and south. Then, each character is extracted by the sizes and the relations of connected strokes. This is done by iterative vertical and horizontal manipulation. The result shows all characters are extracted in the same sequence as that of context with space and time efficiency.

The main objective of this study is to explore the forward-looking role of a National Hangeul Museum Library that can actively respond to changes in the era and to propose development strategies for this purpose. To achieve this, the current functions, resources, materials, online and offline services, and the library's website were thoroughly analyzed. We conducted research on the operational status and best practices of libraries within museums, art galleries, and advanced libraries both domestically and internationally. Ultimately, we aimed to establish medium to long-term development strategies for the Korean library and derive step-by-step detailed implementation plans. The results of this study can serve as foundational data to help the National Hangeul Museum Library effectively fulfill its central role as a library related to the Korean language and culture.

The Chinese Pinyin system using Roman characters is used to input Chinese into a computer or a smartphone. However, because the Chinese Pinyin system can not express Chinese pronunciation accurately as it is, it is very difficult for Korean people to input Chinese using this system In this paper, we designed a Chinese input system using Hangeul which can best represent pronunciations among the world's characters. In the system proposed in this study, Chinese input is possible even when Chinese pronunciation is similarly expressed, which increases the probability of successful input and also verified it through performance evaluation.

Interest and desire for analogue emotion increased with the dazzling development of digital technology. Especially, as analogue emotion got grafted in the design field, analysis through various expression media is being done. This study seeks to propose design of t-shirt using unique advantage of Hangeul calligraphy that can satisfy the modern flow and pattern design's various expressions. Calligraphy is being used in various fields such as advert, package, logo, movie poster, signboard, graphic design, calligraphy and abstract painting. Formative yet effective in readability and conveying meaning as it's expressed in letters, calligraphy is a field of attention with its contribution in extending the new design area. As a method of the study, altogether 8 pieces of t-shirts were proposed through related preceding research, literary research, co-work with calligraphy author, computer graphic program, and heat transfer. As such, the t-shirt designs which were created by suggesting various design and using traditional materials like calligraphy, can be used as novel and sensual factor, where one can get a glimpse at the potential of development as traditional fashion product.

This system is not only for a foreigner but also for everyone in Korea who doesn't know Hangeul (Korean language). It is difficult to study Hangeul themselves without any helper. This paper would show the AR based system that could help people to learn basic Hangeul letters and pronunciations in their home without any helper by applying the characteristics of consonant and vowel. We also suggest the Word Studying Methods using the proposed system. At this time, it is developed based on the pattern matching function of ARToolKit, we could improve the system by applying the character recognition function.

In this paper, We investigate the search patterns that are applied to the character based word search and make the search algorithm. We used to various hangout coded set that are KS X 1001 hangeul coded set and unicode 3.0 for the character based word search algorithm. In each case, We study of efficiency of algorithms that are related to hangeul coded set.

In this paper, a preliminary structural analysis of the information source of HANGEUL is performed statistically. And the results of the analysis are utilized to a KS HAHGEUL code, improving its transmission rate of 14%, on the basis of probability rankings of the fundamental HANGEUL elements. Forthermore Some problems about KS code, a coding method for the HAHGEUL information processing, as well as data entry are realized.

This paper introduces computerized version of Hangout(Korean Language) Standard Pronunciation Rule that can be used in Korean processing systems such as Korean voice synthesis system and Korean voice recognition system. For this purpose, we build Petri net models for each items of the Standard Pronunciation Rule, and then integrate them into the vocal sound conversion table. The reversion of Hangul Standard Pronunciation Rule regulates the way of matching vocal sounds into grammatically correct written characters. This paper presents not only the vocal sound conversion table but also character conversion table obtained by reversely converting the vocal sound conversion table. Making use of these tables, we have implemented a Hangeul character into a vocal sound system and a Korean vocal sound into character conversion system, and tested them with various data sets reflecting all the items of the Standard Pronunciation Rule to verify the soundness and completeness of our tables. The test results shows that the tables improves the process speed in addition to the soundness and completeness.

This paper proposes an efficient method to recognize Hangeul in video open captions. The open captions in news video can play an important role in the video indexing. The strokes of Korean character have a very strong horizontal and vertical directionality and some strokes appear repeatedly in each character. Based on this characteristics, in this paper, we propose an efficient algorithm to extract the character regions in open caption and recognize the characters based on these characteristics of Korean character. The simulation results demonstrate the efficiency of our algorithm in terms of computation time and recognition accuracy.
