지식기반시스템에서 불확실성처리방법의 비교연구 (A Comparative Study of Uncertainty Handling Methods in Knowledge-Based System)

  • There has been considerable research recently on uncertainty handling in the fields of artificial intelligence and knowledge-based system. Various numerical and non-numerical methods have been proposed for representing and propagating uncertainty in knowledge-based system. The Bayesian method, the Dempster-Shafer's Evidence Theory, the Certainty Factor model and the Fuzzy Set Theory are most frequently appeared in the knowledge-based system. Each of these four methods views uncertainty from a different perspective and propagates it differently. There is no single method which can handle uncertainty properly in all kinds of knowledge-based systems' domain. Therefore a knowledge-based system will work more effectively when the uncertainty handling method in the system fits to the system's environment. This paper proposed a framework for selecting proper uncertainty handling methods in knowledge-based system with respect to characteristics of problem domain and cognitive styles of experts. A schema with strategic/operational and unstructured/structured classification is employed to differenciate domain. And a schema with systematic/intuitive and preceptive/receptive classification is employed to differenciate experts' cognitive style. The characteristics of uncertainty handling methods are compared with characteristics of problem domains and cognitive styles respectively. Then a proper uncertainty handling method is proposed for each category.

Design and Development of an Ergonomic Trolley-Lifter for Sheet Metal Handling Task: A Preliminary Study

  • Background: There have been some concerns related to manual handling of large items in industry. Manual handling operations of large sheet metal may expose workers to risks related to efficiency as well as occupational safety and health. Large sheet metals are difficult to move and burdensome to lift/transfer, and handling the sharp sheet edges may result in contact stress and/or cut injuries on the workers. Methods: Through observation, interview, and immersive simulation activities, a few problems related to current handling of sheet metals were identified. A sheet metal trolley-lifter was then designed and fabricated to address these issues. A pilot study on the use of the developed trolley-lifter for handling sheet metals was conducted to compare between the new and traditional handling methods. Results: The pilot study of the trolley-lifter showed promising results in terms of improving the cycle time, manpower utilization, and working postures compared with the traditional handling method. Conclusion: The trolley-lifter offers an alternative solution to automation and a mechanized assistive device by providing a simple mechanism to assist the handling of sheet metals effectively and safely.

Standardization of Sample Handling Methods to Reduce the Rate of Inadequate Sampling

  • Purpose: The predominant approach for mitigating inadequate sampling rates has primarily involved bolstering the volume of education. This study aimed to curtail inadequate sampling rates through the implementation of continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities, tailoring effective methods to the unique needs of each institution. Methods: We developed a sample handling guidebook and implemented QI activities to address this issue. Results: These measures resulted in a 4.7% decrease in inadequate sampling rates, concurrently improving knowledge of sample handling and overall nurse satisfaction. We addressed the root causes of inadequate sampling before laboratory pre-processing by: 1) focusing on systematic rather than erratic errors through CQI activities, 2) revising the sample handling guide, and 3) delivering face-to-face education based on the specific needs of the nursing department. These changes resulted in an additional 0.6% decrease in the inadequate sampling rate. Conclusion: This study demonstrates that the implementation of CQI activities based on evidence derived from a multifaceted causal analysis significantly reduced the inadequate sampling rate compared to previous studies.

  • For the maritime traffic safety assessment of vessels navigating in harbor or fairway, simulation techniques by using shiphandling simulator system have been traditionally used. When designing the simulation experiments and when analyzing the simulation results, however, there has been a little systematic method. Ship-handling simulations can be regarded as a kind of statistical experiment by using ship-handling simulator system, which means that shiphandling simulation conditions should be designed statistically and that the simulation results should be statistically analyzed as well. For the safe and economic design of harbor and fairway, reasonable decisions based upon the scientific analysis of shiphandling simulation results are indispensable. In this paper, various statistical methods, such as Bayes theorem, statistical hypothesis testing, and probability distributions, are reviewed with a view to application to maritime traffic safety assessment. It is expected that more reasonable decisions on harbor and fairway design can be made from shiphandlers' view point by using statistical methods.

  • This paper proposes efficient cloth animation and collision handling methods. There have been various techniques for the generation of cloth behavior. However, the cloth animation is still a challenging subject in real-time environments. This paper presents an efficient animation method based on implicit integration. The proposed method can efficiently animate virtual cloth object with complex geometry. In addition, this paper also introduces an efficient collision handling method. The collision resolution is another important issue in cloth animation since deformable objects has special collision problem called self-collision. In this paper, the self-collision was successfully avoided in real - time environments.

  • Objectives: The primary goal of this article is to compare the multiple algorithms used for deadlock handling methods and then outline the common method in deadlock handling methods. Methods: The article methodology begins with introducing a literature review studying different algorithms used in deadlock detection and many algorithms for deadlocks prevented, recovered, and avoided. Discussion and analysis of the literature review were done to classify and compare the studied algorithms. Findings: The results showed that the deadlock detection method solves the deadlock. As soon as the real-time deadlock detection algorithm is identified and indicated, it performs better than the non-real-time deadlock detection algorithm. Our novelty the statistics that we get from the percentages of reviewing outcomes that show the most effective rate of 47% is in deadlock prevention. Then deadlock detection and recovery with 28% finally, a rate of 25% for deadlock avoidance.

  • The container handling times of automated transfer cranes(ATCs) significantly affect the productivity of container terminals. In this paper, evaluation models for the container handling times of ATCs are suggested for import container blocks with different transfer point configurations. Firstly, evaluation models for various motion times of stacking and retrieving operations of ATC are suggested for two basic alternatives of import container blocks. In addition, in considering the space allocation, evaluation methods for the container handling times of ATC are suggested. Finally, the container handling times for each case are compared with each other in order to analyze how the block shape and the transfer point locations affect the container handling times of ATC.

  • Conventional methods to solve the nonlinear programming problem range from augmented Lagrangian methods to sequential quadratic programming (SQP) methods. NPSOL, which is a SQP code, has been widely used to solve various optimization problems but is still subject to many numerical problems such as convergence to local optima, difficulties in initialization and in handling non-smooth cost functions. Recently, many evolutionary methods have been developed for constrained optimization.   • The purpose of this study is to suggest the methods to model driver input and evaluate the handling performances of a vehicle by dynamic simulation using ADAMS (Automated Dynamic Analysis of Mechanical Systems) software. The driver input was modeled using the PID controller to follow the desired velocities and paths. The gains of the controller were decided by the trial and error methods aided by Ziegler-Nichols rule. It was successful to apply the rule for the vehicle model to follow the desired values of steady state cornering and lane change maneuver. As the results, handling performances of baseline and two variegated vehicles were evaluated. The theoretical provement was performed to explain the differences.

간호사들의 항암제 취급실태와 안전수칙에 대한 인지도와 실천도 (Cognition and Practice of Safe Handling of Cytotoxic Drugs in University Hospital Nurses)

  • Purpose : To provide basic data for establishing the policy of safe handling of cytotoxic drugs and for building training materials and clinical guidelines for nurses handling cytotoxic drugs. Methods: 255 nurses in Seoul and 257 nurses in D metropolitan area participated in the study. Questionnaires were based on the safe handling guideline for cytotoxic drugs issued by OSHA and ONA. Results: Nurses in Seoul scored higher in the cognition for safe handling guidelines of cytotoxic drugs in preparation, administration. as well as total score compared with nurses in D metropolitan area. The practical score also showed higher in nurses in Seoul in administration, disposal and total score. But both groups showed low level of practical score. The answers why they could not follow the guideline for cytotoxic drugs were "don't have", "busy", and "don't know", etc Conclusion: Handling of the cytotoxic drug is very common and important. The study findings suggest that hospitals especially in D metropolitan area should educate the nurses and supply equipments for safe handling of cytotoxic drugs. Thus, repetitive and continual education of all nurses including experts is needed. In addition, it is necessary to supply enough protective equipment for preventing exposure to the cytotoxic drugs.
