  • This paper presents a new and easy method to obtain the Fourier transforms of the n-th order cosine-pulses whose maximum amplitudes are uniform. The new method is focused on deriving a formula which is recursively related following their orders and can be well applied to some numerical solutions. On the other hand, this method also offers more compact procedures in view of analytical solutions than the conventional methods because the results are consist of the sum of two functions which are easily calculated. Especially, the formula can be represented as a complete recursion by the separation of coefficients originated by the authors and the resulting difference equation is given by the sum of the original 'sinc' functions shifted by some symmetrical factors and multiplied by some constants. The constants are easily decided from the binomial coefficients and the shifting factors from the corresponding exponential differences in the expansion of $(a+b)^n$.

  • Adherend samples were made from unsaturated polyester and woven and mat glass fibers by the hand layup and vacuum methods. The mechanical properties of the adhesive, composite adherends, and terminal-joint and secondary-joint specimens were determined experimentally. Combinations of the experiment results and the bonding theory were used in this study. The maximum and average shear stresses were calculated based on the maximum tensile force and geometry parameters of the joint specimens. The results of the maximum and average shear stresses were compared and evaluated for six joints. The results showed that the grinding and grind/acetone joint had the highest strength among three types of terminal-joints. Similarly, the mat-mat and mat-woven joints had the highest strength among three types of secondary-joints with the same value. Conversely, no treatment and woven-woven bonding had very low strength. In each case, failure occurred always at two ends and then moved toward the middle area of the overlap length.

  • Purpose: The evaluation of SUV (Standardized Uptake Values) for quantitative analysis in PET exam is the most significant. In PET exam, we make attenuation correction images by using $^{68}Ge$, $^{137}Cs$ or CT data. At this time, a distorted attenuation map affects quantitative analysis. After the exam using barium-sulfate and high density of barium contrast make attenuation map distorted. And then it brings bed influences on SUV. The aim of this study is to verify the relationship between high density barium-sulfate and SUV in PET exam. Materials and Methods By using $^{18}F$-FDG, we made barium-sulfate powder, density of 0, 1.5, 3, 5, 10 and 15% respectively and acquired PET and PET/CT images per each density. And we examined SUV variations from PET and PET/CT images according to differences of barium's density. Moreover, we finally calculated SUV causing variations in HU (Hounsfield Units) values to justify whether the differences of barium density bring any changes in PET/CT exam. Results: From PET images acquired from transmission scan with $^{68}Ge$, we got SUV figures from 6.46 to 6.8 in barium density between 0 to 15 percent. On the other hand, In PET images acquired from Tx scan that using CT, SUV was 6.77 to 23.73, derived from the same barium density. And CT HU values range from 29 to 2004. Conclusion: PET images from Tx data using $^{68}Ge$ weren't affected by barium density and had no differences in SUV. But in the PET/CT images using CT Tx data, there's considerable variations in HU and SUV values according to a difference of barium density in HU values. To perform a precise examination, barium sulfate should be removed from a human body before performing a PET exam.

  • Korean organic farming has been well developed over the last two decades. It demonstrates that the number of certificated farm for organic agriculture and products have been drastically increased in recent year. However, the organic farmers have thought that organic farming rely only on organic fertilizer and they don't keep organic farming principle in which organic farmer should enhance biological activity and crop rotation. This study was to compare nutrient input, recommendation, cropping system and organic product circulation between the early $20^{th}$ century and beginning of the $21^{st}$ century. The population of Korea has increased 7.3 times more than that of a century ago but cultivated land has been decreased during 100 years. The rice production in 2002 was 4.2 times higher than that of production in 1912. The input of N, P and K in 1907 on the basis of King's suggestion was 95.6kg/ha, 15.9kg/ha and 3.0kg/ha, respectively. Nitrogen came from excreta (40%), green manure (55%) and compost (5%) in the early 20th century. On the other hand, organic farmer input organic resources such as wood chip (30.1%), compost (27.8%), rice straw (14%) and others (25%) these days. In terms of nutrient balance calculated nutrient and absorption by plants, organic rice farmer apply excessive nitrogen and phosphorus to the soil. They was used to put $7{\sim}10$ times more nitrogen than that of a century ago. Nutrient recommendation was similar in N and P between early 20th century and early $21^{st}$ century. Farmers in both century did not rotate crops in the field. Today, organic farmers engaged in more continuous cultivation than in early 20th century. Farmers in the early $20^{th}$ century produced locally, consumed locally the agricultural products, but organic farmers in the $21^{st}$ century produce the organic product in the local farmland and consumed in the large city and also a lot of foreign organic products have been imported in recent year.

  • Diel change in urea decomposition activity of epiphytic algae on Phragmites stems and phytoplankton in a shallow littoral reed zone in the south basin of Lake Biwa was investigated with an in situ technique using $^{14}C$-labelled urea. The daily rates of urea decomposition (sum of urea carbon incorporation rate and $CO_2$ liberation rate) by epiphytic and planktonic algae were calculated as 180 ${\mu}$ mole urea surface shoot area $m^{-2}\;day^{-1}$ and 210 ${\mu}$ mole urea $m^{-3}\;day^{-1}$. The chlorophyll a specific urea decomposition rates of epiphytic and planktonic algae were 4.7 to 6.4 and 4.4 to 6.2 ${\mu}$ mole urea mg chl. $a^{-1}$ incubation $time^{-1}$ in daytime and 4.2 to 5.7 and 2.4 to 3.5 ${\mu}$ mole urea mg chl. $a^{-1}\;time^{-1}$ in nighttime, respectively. High values were obtained during 12:00 ${\sim}$ 18:00 and low values during 00:00 ${\sim}$ 06:00 for both epiphytic and planktonic algal communities. A clear diel periodicity in the urea decomposing activity of the planktonic algae was observed. The activity of the epiphytic algae, on the other hand, showed no destinctive variation during a day. The present results indicate that epiphytic algae are one of the significant urea decomposers in a reed zone, and that the diel patterns are quite difference between both algal communities.

  • This paper presents a numerical analysis of flow inside a water nozzle for fire fighting and observes the effect of the variation in primary components on internal flow. In order to observe the performance of water nozzles, they have been systematically designed and modelled, applying boundary conditions obtained from field experiments (inlet pressure at pump : 4 bar, and pressure outlet : atmospheric pressure). In addition, the governing equations were calculated to obtain velocity, pressure inside the nozzle. Two main parameters (the presence and length of sub-pipes) were considered with the aim to observe the detail internal flow characteristics. It is found that the base model is not significant on flow characteristics, but a negative effect (i. e. the reverse flow) at the entrance region of sub-pipe. On the other hand, the reverse flow was vanished when making the length of sub-pipe double.

  • The interspecific relationships of the genus Leucophenga, L.concilia, L.maculata, L.orientalis , and L.quinquenmaculipennis were investigated by soluble proteins analysis. the electrophoretic banding patterns of the four species analyzed by SDS-PAGE were scanned by densitormeter. The soluble protein patters of L.maculata and L.concilia by SDS-PAGE appeared similarly and on the other hand, those of L.quinquemaculipennis had a different forms from three other species. The genetic distance among the four species of TDE analysis was calculated by formula of the Aquadro and Avis(1981) . The genetic distance between L.maculata and L.concilia was 0.393 , the lowest of all and between L.maculata and L.quinquemaculipennis was 0.496, the highest of all. The dendrogram was established using UPGMA method based on genetic distance obtained by TDE analysis. Clustered patterns as follows ; first, L.maculata and L.concilia were clustered, and L.orientalis and L. quinquemaculipennis followed the firstone in order. In consequence, it seems that the interspecific relationship of L.quinquemaculipennis was farther from the other three species, while that of L.maculata and L.concilia was closer than that of L.orientalis.

  • Atternaria sp. was isolated from soil and crude cellulases were prepared from wheat bran culture of the fungus. The activities of the crude enzyme were studied on five different subvstrates and some phsical properties were also examined, crude enzymes were purified by column chromatography on DEAE Sephadex and Sephadex, Isozymes were separated some of which were active specifically on DEAE cellulose and some were primarily active on cellulose and CM-cellulose. The optimal points of pH and temperature for the crude enzyme were varied depending on the substrates ; On cellulose they were at pH 6.0 and 40.deg.C, on CM-cellulose at pH's 4.0 and 6.0 and 60.deg.C, and on DEAW-cellulose at pH 5.0 and 50.deg.C. Two active fractions, F-1 and F-II on Na-CMC was used as substrate the Km values of crude enzyme, F-I and F-II were calculated to be $4{\times}10^{-5}$ , 1.1 * 10$^{-4}$ , and $1.25{\times}10^{-4}mN$ resepctively. The Ki value of $Cu^{++}$ for crude enzyme was$4{\times}^{-4}mN$ , while that of $Nm^{++}$ while in the same concentration of $Mn^{++}$ it reached to 91%. Some 57% activity of F-1 was inhibited in s mN $Cu^{++}$, whereas it was inhibited as much as 81% in the same concentration above the concentration of 0.3 mM with tis activity reaching up to 137% in 2 mM. On the other hand the F-11 was inhibited by the presence of M $n^{++}$ and some 67% activity was inhibited at 2mM.

  • The influence of phenobarbital (PB) pretreatment (75 mg/kg/day, i.p. for 4 days) on the pharmacokinetics of diltiazem (DTZ) and its metabolite, desacetyldiltiazem (DAD), was investigated in rats. DTZ was injected via femoral (3 mg/kg) or portal (10 mg/kg) vein to the control and PB-pretreated rats. DAD was also injected separately via femoral (3 mg/kg) vein to both groups of rats. The intrinsic hepatic plasma clearance of DTZ was found to be significantly increased (6.8-fold) by the PB pretreatment. However, the fraction of an intravenous DTZ dose converted to DAD $(F_mi)$ was only slightly (6%) increased and calculated metabolic rate constant of DTZ to DAD was not affected by the pretreatment. On the other hand, plasma free fraction of DTZ was increased (1.8-fold) from $4.24{\pm}0.25%$ to $7.45{\pm}0.54%$ by the pretreatment. However, the l.8-fold increase in the free fraction of DTZ would not explain the 6.8-fold increase in the hepatic intrinsic clearance of DTZ. Therefore, the increase in either the hepatic blood flow or the metabolism other than to DAD was expected as the probable mechanism(s) of the increased hepatic clearance of DTZ. Sequential metabolism of DAD to further metabolites, however, would be a more potential cause of the apparently unchanged metabolism of DTZ to DAD by the PB-pretreatment.

  • This research was conducted to understand the different circumstances for wearing shirts by adult males aged 20-39, and to provide this basic information to the shirt industry prior to developing new functional men's shirts. A total of 345 respondents participated in the survey. Most of questionnaire, frequency, mean and standard deviation were calculated and the differences between the 20s and 30s were analyzed by t-test or ${\chi}^2$ test. The results of the survey are as follows. Grading the satisfaction degree of their body parts, the respondents were relatively unsatisfied with their height, weight, and waist, abdominal and hip circumferences. Majority preferred department stores, discount stores and outlets for purchasing shirts. Many have never owned tailored shirts - men in 20's had less experience with tailoring than men in 30's. The foremost selection criterion for purchasing shirts was fit -during purchase, men in their 20's considered fit more important than men in their 30's. The most preferred unbuttoning of the top button when wearing shirts. For favored collar shapes with one button unbuttoned, the most valued collar angle and style was V-neck shape when unbuttoned, low collar band, collar with unopened collar, and stiff collars. Most shirt designs and details included slim fit, no dart in the front and one dart on the back. Men in 20's more preferred the no dart in the front and one tuck on the back, as compared to men in 30's. On the other hand, men in their 30's preferred one dart shirts than men in 20's. Regarding shirt bands and cuffs, one button and regular collar and one button cuffs with round angle design, were the most preferred, respectively.
