철도차량용 패널 감쇠처리재의 감쇠계수 평가 (An Evaluation of Loss Factor of Damping Treatment Materials for Panels of Railway Vehicles)

  • 본 논문은 철도차량 및 자동차용 패널의 진동 및 소음억제용으로 사용되는 감쇠 처리재의 감쇠특성 평가에 관한 연구이다. 감쇠재의 모드별 매개변수들을 구하기 위해 다른 종류의 PVC를 알루미늄과 철계 빔위에 도포한 시편을 제작하여 가진시험을 수행하였다. 시편은 10 Hz부터 1,000 Hz까지의 주파수 대역을 조화력으로 가진하여 가속도계로 전달 모빌리티값을 측정하였다. 감쇠계수는 몇 가지 이론인 반력법, 최소 탄젠트오차법 및 최소 각오차법 조합법과 위상변화법을 모드 원호곡선 맞춤과 최소자승오차법을 사용하여 작성한 통합 프로그램을 이용하여 평가하였다. 감쇠값이 비교적 낮고 측정값이 선형인 경우는 어느 방법을 사용해도 되나, 감쇠값이 높거나 측정값에 비선형특성이 있는 경우에는 최소 각오차법이 감쇠계수 측정오차를 줄일 수 있다. 도포 감쇠재의 동적특성 평가로부터 구한 재료의 물성값은 차체나 철도차량 하부 기기함과 같이 복잡한 구조물의 소음해석을 위한 유한요소법에 사용할 수 있다. 빔 시험에서 수행한 모드별 감쇠계수의 특성 평가 결과 2차 이상 모드의 주파수 대역에서 감쇠 효과가 크기 때문에 구조소음억제에 유용할 것으로 사료된다.

Study of a Ray-Tracing Method for Optimized Road Light Design

  • A study is presented of improved road light design for drivers and pedestrians with the use of a ray- or reverse ray-tracing method. Many existing road lights are unsuitable for drivers and pedestrians because of serious problems such as glare effect or randomicity of illuminated areas. This situation has arisen because in customary design methods the emphasis has been on simple factors such as luminance or electrical power. However a high luminance or electrical power consumption, alone, do not guarantee bright and good road lighting. So we have applied a ray-tracing method to the design of a road light reflector with the goals of ensuring that illuminated objects on the road can be seen more clearly and that the illuminating light is more comfortable for the eyes of drivers and pedestrians. We have set design targets for factors such as the uniformity of lighting on the road area per road light, the shading angles and the continuous luminance uniformity on long lengths of road. For set heights of the eyes of drivers and pedestrians eyes we have calculated a design guideline for the achievement of the above design targets. Then we designed a road light reflector using the reverse ray-tracing approach. Also we have achieved the same luminance on the road with almost half the power consumption, through the reduction of lighty loss. In an ideal design optimum parameters are suggested to be a shading angle of 75 degrees and a luminance uniformity of 0.5 on the road area. This reflector performance is achievable with a 250 watt power consumption ceramic discharge metal light source.

Pin Power Distribution Determined by Analyzing the Rotational Gamma Scanning Data of HANARO Fuel Bundle

  • The pin power distribution is determined by analyzing the rotational gamma scanning data for 36 element fuel bundle of HANARO. A fission monitor of Nb$^{95}$ is chosen by considering the criteria of the half-life, fission yield, emitting ${\gamma}$-ray energy and probability. The ${\gamma}$-ray spectra were measured in Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute(KAERI) by using a HPGe detector and by rotating the fuel bundle at steps of 10$^{\circ}$. The counting rates of Nb$^{95}$ 766 keV ${\gamma}$-rays are determined by analyzing the full absorption peak in the spectra. A 36$\times$36 response matrix is obtained from calculating the contribution of each rod at every scanning angle by assuming 2-dimensional and parallel beam approximations for the measuring geometry. In terms of the measured counting rates and the calculated response matrix, an inverse problem is set up for the unknown distribution of activity concentrations of pins. To select a suitable solving method, the performances of three direct methods and the iterative least-square method are tested by solving simulation examples. The final solution is obtained by using the iterative least-square method that shows a good stability. The influences of detection error, step size of rotation and the collimator width are discussed on the accuracy of the numerical solution. Hence an improvement in the accuracy of the solution is proposed by reducing the collimator width of the scanning arrangement.

대전원 탈락사고시 최적부하 차단방법에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Optimal Load Shedding Method under Large Generator Outage)

  • 본 논문은 대전원 탈락 사고시 계통의 지나친 주파수하락을 방지하기 위하여 주파수하락의 초기변화율을 근거로 하여 적정부하를 차단할 수 있도록 저주파수계전기의 합리적인 정정방법을 제시한다. 본 연구에서의 부하차단 전략은, 주파수가 59.5[Hz]에 이를 때 부하차단 제1단을 일으키고 제1,2단에의 크기가 주파수하락의 초기변화율을 근거하여 주어진 계통외란의 크기인 총 정태부하 차단량의 1/2이되도록 정정하였다. 그 결과 새로 제안한 방법이 주파수 회복특성에 있어서 종래의 방법보다 더 효과적임을 알 수 있다.

한국전력 노후 가공송전선의 동적송전용량에 대한 재평가 (A Reassessment for Dynamic Line Rating of Aged Overhead Transmission Lines in Kepco's Network)

  • During the past 2 decades, many electric power companies have been searching various solutions in order to supply power with economical and more efficiency in the present transmission utilities. Most interesting method to increase the line capacity of overhead transmission lines without constructing any new line might be to adapt Dynamic Line Rating(DLR). Specified rating is normally determined by any current level, not by conductor temperature. Although specified rating is essential to design transmission line, dip may be the most important factor in limiting transmission capacity. Transmission lines built by the oldest dip criterion among the 3 different design criteria for conductor dip are nearly over one-half of all Kepco's transmission lines. This paper describes an up-rating method for those transmission lines in order to apply DLR technique. Based on limit dip conductor temperature and current of the transmission lines, limitation performance and effectiveness in applying DLR with weather model are analyzed. As a result of analysis, it can be shown that an improved method could be effectively used for increasing the line rating of old transmission line which was built by the design criterion with low dip margin.

A Data-line Sharing Method for Lower Cost and Lower Power in TFT-LCDs

  • This paper presents a new data line sharing technique for TFT-LCD panels. This technique reduces the number of data driver IC's to half by having two adjacent pixels share the same data line. This in turn doubles the number of gate lines, which are integrated directly on the glass substrate of amorphous silicon for further cost reduction and more compactness. The proposed technique with new pixel array structure was applied to 15.4 inch WXGA TFT-LCD panels and has proven that the number of driver IC's were halved with nearly 41% circuit cost reduction and 5.3% reduction in power consumption without degrading the image quality.

POSCO's Research and Development works on rare earth reduced NdFeB magnets production process

  • Since discovery, NdFeB permanent magnet has replaced application of the conventional magnets rapidly because of its superior physical and mechanical properties. With increasing consumption of power combined with energy resource depletion, energy efficiency is becoming more and more inportant. According to recent reports, almost almost half of the electric power is consumed by motor, and NdFeB magnets which are the core component of the motor play a key role on improving energy efficiency of the devices. In parallel with finding alternatives energy resources, research works improving energy efficiecy have been conducted world wide. Althogh NdFeB magnets usage have been expanded to various applications, key materials such as Nd and Dy, resouces lean heavily on specific area, China. Magnetic industry revently experienced skyrocketing price fluctuatioin of rare earth at around 2008. Chineses government's regulations worsened the situation and arose a necessity to develop methods to minimize rare earth use. In this presentation, POSCO's recent research works on rare earth reduction is presented including novel powder alloying method using nitrate precursors. Also, future R&D plans for rare earth free magnets is briefly introduced as well.

  • This paper proposes a nonlinear impedance circuit composed by diodes and inductors or capacitors. This circuit needs no control circuits and switches, and the impedance value is changed by the polarity of current or voltage, This paper presents one of these applications to improve the input current of capacitor input diode rectifiers. The rectifier using the nonlinear impedance circuit id constructed with four diodes and four capacitors in addition to the conventional rectifiers, that is it has eight diodes and five capacitors, including a DC link capacitor. It makes harmonic components of the input current reduce and the power factor improve. A circuit design method is shown by experimentation and confirmed simulation. It explained that compared conventional pulse-width modulated (PWM)inverter with half pulse-width modulated (HPWM) inverter. Proposed HPWM inverter eliminated dead-time by lowering switching loss and holding over-shooting.

A Family of Non-Isolated Photovoltaic Grid Connected Inverters without Leakage Current Issues

  • Transformerless solar inverters have a higher efficiency than those with an isolation link. However, they suffer from a leakage current issue. This paper proposes a family of single phase six-switch transformerless inverter topologies with an ac bypass circuit to solve the leakage current problem. These circuits embed two unidirectional freewheeling current units into the midpoint of a full bridge inverter, to obtain a freewheeling current path, which separates the solar panel from the grid in the freewheeling state. The freewheeling current path contains significantly fewer devices and poor performance body diodes are not involved, leading to a higher efficiency. Meanwhile, it is not necessary to add a voltage balancing control method when compared with the half bridge inverter. Simulation and experiments are provided to validate the proposed topologies.

진동감쇠특성 시험법 비교 (Comparison of Test Methods for Vibration Damping Properties)

  • There are many standard methods for measuring vibration damping properties of the beam type material. Among them, three standards ASTM E 756, ISO 6721 and JIS G 0602, are compared. Loss factor and Young's modulus of the steel beam are evaluated by using five different methods and their results are compared. Logarithmic decay method and half-power bandwidth method are used to calculate the loss factor. It was observed that Young’s modulus is agree well, but loss factors are different from test to test. So the same test method must be applied to measure damping properties.
