라오콘 논쟁과 에티엔 모리스 팔코네의 <크로토나의 밀로> (Laokoon-Streit und Falconets )

  • Im 18. Jahrhundert stritt man urn allgemeing$\"{u}$ltige Kriterien f$\"{u}$r die Kunstkritik, welche ebenda aufzubl$\"{u}$hen begann. Im Zentrum dieser Auseinandersetzung, die uns als "Laokoon-streit" bekannt ist, befanden sich Johann Joachim Winckelmann einerseits und ein franz$\"{o}$sischer Bildhauer Etienne-Maurice Falconet(1716-1791) andererseits. Die beiden waren von ganz unterschiedlichen Kunstideen $\"{u}$berzeugt. Obwohl sie niemals zusammentraf, fielen sie in eine heftige schriftliche Diskussion. Wie bekannt, vertrat Winckelmann den aufkommenden Klassizismus. Er setzte die griechische Kunst auf die h$\"{o}$chste Rangstufe auf und bezeichnet sie als Tr$\"{a}$ger der sogenannten "edlen Einfalt und stillen Gr$\"{o}{\beta}$e, die sonst in der Natur verborgen bleibe. Nach Winckelmann sollte der K$\"{u}$nstler die griechischen Vorbilder wie Apollo von Belvedere und Laokoon nachahmen, um das wesentlich Sch$\"{o}$ne zu erlernen. Falconet $\"{u}$bte eine scharfe Kritik gegen die Meinung Winckelmanns und die Diletantismus in der Kunstkritik aus. Selbst als Theoretiker warf er vor, dass die Klassizisten um ihr dogmatisch struktuiertes Lehrgeb$\"{a}$ude willen alle andere Eigenschaften der Kunst sowie Kunstwerke $\"{u}$bersahen und ihre Apotheose der klassischen Kunst auf die Entwicklung der Kunst eher als Hindernis wirkte. Im besonderen Hinblick auf den Ausdruck der menschlichen Leidenschaft distanzierte Falconet sich von der Lehrmeinung des Klassizismus, n$\"{a}$mlich Zur$\"{u}$ckhaltung derselben Leidenschaft wegen der idealen Sch$\"{o}$nheit. Vor dem Laokoon teilten Falconet und die Klassizisten ihre Meinung un$\"{u}$berbr$\"{u}$ckbar voneinander. F$\"{u}$r diese war der Laokoon die Repr$\"{a}$sentation des erhabenen Menschen, der leidet, ohne seinen Affekt zu enth$\"{u}$llen. Im Gegensatz sah Falconet in demselben Werk einen erlungenen Ausdruck des menschlichen Gef$\"{u}$hls. Sein Deb$\"{u}$twerk ist also die Visualisierung seiner Kunstauffassung. Unter Einfluss Pierre Pugets sowie seines Lehrers Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne bem$\"{u}$ht er sich darum, den Ausdruck der menschlichen Leidenschaft durch kunsttechnische Leistung und wissenschaftliche Forschung zu erstarken. Daraus ergab sich die expressive Ausdrucksform des Affekts. In diesem Fall verband sich Falconet mit der Tradition des barocken Kunstwollens, aber er ging einen Schritt weiter, indem er die Ausdrucksweise noch realistischer und lebendiger zu machen vermag. Faconet war vielleicht der einzige K$\"{u}$nstler, der Vorteile det barocken Kunst ausnut zen konnte, ohne dabei die klassische und realistische Formensprache zu verlieren. Dutch sein Werk und seine theoretischen Schriften er$\"{o}$ffnete er neue Prinzipien sowohl f$\"{u}$r die Kunstpraxis als auch f$\"{u}$r die Kunstkritik, deren wesentliche Sinn jedoch erst in der Romantik anerkannt wurde.

Reproductive outcomes of retransferring retained embryos in blastocyst transfer cycles

  • Objective: To determine the incidence of embryo retention (ER) in the transfer catheter following embryo transfer (ET) in blastocyst transfer and investigate whether retransferring retained embryos has an impact on reproductive outcomes in patients undergoing in vitro fertilization-ET. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the records of 1,131 blastocyst transfers, which comprised 223 single blastocyst transfer (SBT) and 908 double blastocyst transfer (DBT) cycles. Each SBT and DBT group was classified depending on whether ET was performed without retained embryos in the catheter during the first attempt (without-ER group) or whether any retained embryos were found following ET (ER group) for the purpose of comparing reproductive outcomes in a homogenous population. Results: The overall incidence of finding retained embryos was 2.8% (32/1,131). There were no retained embryos in SBT cycles. In DBT cycles, implantation rates (30.0% vs. 26.6%), positive ${\beta}-hCG$ rates (57.2% vs. 56.2%), clinical pregnancy rates (45.3% vs. 46.9%), and live birth rates (38.9% vs. 43.8%) were not significantly different between the without-ER and ER groups. There were no significant differences in the mean birth weight (g) $2,928.4{\pm}631.8$ vs. $2,948.7{\pm}497.8$ and the mean gestational age at birth ($269.3{\pm}17.2days$ vs. $264.2{\pm}25.7days$). A total of nine cases of congenital birth defects were found in this study population. Eight were observed in the without-ER group and one in the ER group. Conclusion: Our results suggest that retransfer of retained embryos does not have any adverse impact on reproductive outcomes in blastocyst transfer cycles. Furthermore, our results support finding that SBT might be advantageous for decreasing the incidence of retained embryos in catheters.

유전체 공진기를 이용한 4:1(50-Ω:12.5-Ω) 마이크로스트립-슬롯 선로 임피던스 변환기 (The 4:1(50-Ω:12.5-Ω) microstrip-slot line impedance transformer using a dielectric resonator)

  • 슬롯 선로는 슬롯을 통해 전계와 자계 신호가 전달되기 때문에 슬롯의 크기가 전력 손실에 크게 영향을 준다. 일반 적으로 슬롯 선로는 낮은 전력 손실로 동작하기 위해 상대적으로 높은 비유전율(er)의 기판에서 3GHz 이상의 높은 주파수에서 사용하게 된다. 본 논문에서는 상대적으로 낮은 비유전율(er)을 가지는 Taconic사의 TLC-30(er=3) 기판을 이용하여 중심주파수 1.85GHz에서 동작하는 슬롯 선로를 이용한 4:1 임피던스 변환기를 제안하였다. 제안된 임피던스 변환기에서의 슬롯 선로는 슬롯 선로 위에 유전체 공진기를 배치하여 슬롯 선로에서의 신호 손실을 줄였다. 비유전율(er) 38의 (Zr,Sn)TiO4을 이용하여 만든 유전체 공진기를 사용한 4:1 마이크로스트립-슬롯 선로 임피던스 변환기는 1.855GHz에서 삽입 특성(S21) -0.375dB와 반사 특성(S11) -27.6dB를 보였다. 이는 유전체 공진기를 이용하면 상대적으로 낮은 비유전율 기판과 낮은 주파수 영역에서도 안정적으로 슬롯 선로를 이용할 수 있음을 확인할 수 있었다.

스프렌딜 지속정(펠로디핀 5 mg)에 대한 스타핀 지속정의 생물학적동등성 (Bioequivalence of Stapin ER Tablet to Splendil ER Tablet (Felodipine 5 mg))

  • Felodipine is a calcium antagonist that lowers blood pressure by reducing peripheral resistance by meas of a direct, selective action on smooth muscle in arterial resistance vessels. Futhermore, it have been approved for the effective in angina pectoris and cardiac failure. The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the bioequivalence of two felodipine extended release (ER) tablets, Splendil (YuHan Corporation) and Stapin (Hana Pharmaceutial Co., Ltd.), according to the guidelines of Korea Food and Drug Administration (KFDA). The felodipine release from the two felodipine formulations in vitro was tested using KP VIII Apparatus II method at pH 6.5 buffer solution. Twenty six healthy male subjects, $22.73{\pm}1.78$ years in age and $66.66{\pm}7.28\;kg$ in body weight, were divided into two groups and a radomized $2{\times}2$ cross-over study was employed. After two tablets containing 5 mg as felodipine were orally administered, blood sample was taken at predetermined time intervals and the concentrations of felodipine in serum were determined using column-switching HPLC method with UV detector. The dissolution profiles of two formulations were similar at pH 6.5 buffer solution. Besides, the pharmacokinetic parameters such as $AUC_t,\;C_{max}\;and\;T_{max}$ were calculated and ANOVA test was utilized for the statistical analysis of the parameters using logarithmically transformed $AUC_t\;and\;C_{max}$ and untransformed $T_{max}$. The results showed that the differences between two formulations based on the Splendil were 2.53%, 1.32% and 18.32% for $AUC_t,\;C_{max}\;and\;T_{max}$, respectively. There were no sequence effects between two formulations in these parameters. The 90% confidence intervals using logarithmically transformed data were within the acceptance rage of log(0.86) to log(1.25) $(e.g.,\;log(0.86){\sim}log(1.20)\;and\;log(0.89){\sim}log(1.23)\;for\;AUC_t,\;C_{max},\;respectively)$. Thus, the criteria of the KFDA guidelines for the bioequivalence was satisfied, indicating Stapin ER tablet and Splendil ER tablet are bioequivalent.

다단 수직형 호기성반응기(ER-1)를 이용한 음식물 폐수의 생물학적 처리기술 (Biological treatment process for Food wastewater Using ER-1 bioreactor)

  • 음식물류 폐기물 자원화과정에서 발생하는 폐수는 BOD 20,000~150,000mg/L이며, 매립금지로 적정수준까지 처리되어야 한다. 그러나 기존의 폐수처리시설에 의해서는 10일 이하로 처리하기가 불가능하다. (주)에코데이는 높은 산소전달효율, 높은 미생물(MLVSS) 유지와 유기물 농도 모두가 상향류의 PFR흐름을 갖는 ER-1 반응기를 이용하여 2~4일 이내로 처리할 수 있는 기술을 개발하였다. 하루 20톤의 음식물을 퇴비화 하는 H군 음식물 자원화시설에 Pilot plant를 설치하고, 자원화 과정에서 발생하는 고농도폐수(평균 BOD 64,431mg/L)와 저농도폐수(평균 BOD 16,500mg/L)에 대해 6개월간 실험하였다. 저농도폐수의 처리를 위해서 ER-1(HRT 2.5d)과 후단에 고도처리공정을 적용하였으며, 이때 전체공정에서 제거되는 유기물의 대부분이 ER-1을 통해 제거되었다. 저농도폐수 Pilot plant의 처리효율은 BOD 99%, COD 98%, SS 99%, T-N 97%, T-P 96%이다. 고농도 폐수 처리공정은 ER-1을 직렬로 배치하여 2단계 ER-1(1차 HRT 2.5d, 2차 HRT 1.5d) 후 고액분리를 통해 하수연계(BOD 2,000mg/L 이하)로 계획하였다. Pilot 실험결과 고농도 폐수에 대해서도 BOD 97%, COD 84%, SS 98%, T-N 66%, T-P 95%의 안정적인 처리효율을 얻을 수 있었다. 고농도 폐수처리시에 생물반응기의 냉각시설 없이 고온($50^{\circ}C$)으로 운전되었으나, 온도 조절 부분을 개선한다면 더 높은 효율을 기대할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

Modified Particle Filtering for Unstable Handheld Camera-Based Object Tracking

  • In this paper, we address the tracking problem caused by camera motion and rolling shutter effects associated with CMOS sensors in consumer handheld cameras, such as mobile cameras, digital cameras, and digital camcorders. A modified particle filtering method is proposed for simultaneously tracking objects and compensating for the effects of camera motion. The proposed method uses an elastic registration algorithm (ER) that considers the global affine motion as well as the brightness and contrast between images, assuming that camera motion results in an affine transform of the image between two successive frames. By assuming that the camera motion is modeled globally by an affine transform, only the global affine model instead of the local model was considered. Only the brightness parameter was used in intensity variation. The contrast parameters used in the original ER algorithm were ignored because the change in illumination is small enough between temporally adjacent frames. The proposed particle filtering consists of the following four steps: (i) prediction step, (ii) compensating prediction state error based on camera motion estimation, (iii) update step and (iv) re-sampling step. A larger number of particles are needed when camera motion generates a prediction state error of an object at the prediction step. The proposed method robustly tracks the object of interest by compensating for the prediction state error using the affine motion model estimated from ER. Experimental results show that the proposed method outperforms the conventional particle filter, and can track moving objects robustly in consumer handheld imaging devices.

석탄과 반탄화 바이오매스 혼합연료의 가스화 (Gasification of Coal and Torrefied Biomass Mixture)

  • Air-blown Gasification of coal and torrefied biomass mixture is conducted on fixed-bed gasifier. The various ratio (9:1, 8:2, 7:3) of coal and torrefied biomass mixture are used. The contents of $H_2$, CO in the syngas were increased with gasification temperature. Carbon conversion tend to increase with temperature and equivalence ratio (ER). However, cold gas efficiency showed maximum point in ER range of 0.26-0.36. The torrefied biomass showed highest cold gas efficiency of 67.5% at $934^{\circ}C$, ER 0.36. Gasification of 8:2 mixture showed the highest carbon conversion and cold gas efficiency and synergy effect.

Loss of estrogen responsiveness under hypoxia occurs through hypoxia inducible factor-l induced proteasome-dependent down regulation of estrogen receptor

  • Estrogen receptor is a ligand-activated transcription factor. Its action depends on the receptor, its ligand, and its coactivator proteins. As a consequence, the concentration of the receptor is a major component that governs the magnitude of the estrogen response. Despite the extensive knowledge on mechanism of estrogen receptor action, regulation of estrogen receptor itself is not very well understood. Estrogen receptor is known to be downregulated under hypoxia leading to inhibition of estrogen receptor mediated transcription activation. We have studied mechanism of loss of estrogen responsiveness under hypoxia. We found that Hif-l${\alpha}$, a major transcription factor regulating hypoxic response, inhibited transcription of estrogen response element driven luciferase gene by expression of HIF-l${\alpha}$/vp16 construct designed to contain transcription activity under normoxia. This loss of estrogen responsiveness appears to be the result of ER${\alpha}$ downregulation. ER${\alpha}$was downregulated at the levels of ligand-biding and protein within l2-24h, and the response was blocked by the proteasome inhibitor MG132, protein synthesis inhibitor cyclohexamide, and tyrosine kinase inhibitor Genistein. These results demonstrate that Hif-l${\alpha}$ downregulates ER${\alpha}$ by proteasome dependent pathway.

Organotin Compounds Act as Inhibitor of Transcriptional Activation with Human Estrogen Receptor

  • In aquatic invertebrates, particularly marine gastropods, organotin compounds induce irreversible sexual abnormality in females, which is termed imposex, at very low concentrations. Organotin compounds are agonists for nuclear receptors such as RXRs and $PPAR{\gamma}$. However, the imposex phenomenon has not been reported to act as an antagonist on estrogen receptors in other species, including vertebrates and invertebrates. In order to gain insights into the antagonistic activity of organotin compounds on estrogen receptors (ERs), we examined the inhibitive effect of these compounds on estradiol-dependent ${\beta}$-galactosidase activity using the yeast two-hybrid detection system consisting of a combination of the human estrogen receptor ($hER{\beta}$) ligand-binding domain and the co-activator steroid receptor co-activator-1 (SRC1). Tributyltin-hydroxide (TBT-OH) and triphenyltin-chlorine (TPT-Cl) exhibited an inhibitive effect on $E_2$-dependent transcriptional activity, similar to antagonistic chemicals such as 4-hydroxytamoxifen (OHT) or ICI 182,780, at a very low concentration of $10^{-14}$ M TBT or $10^{-10}$ M TPT, respectively. The yeast growth and transcriptional activity with transcriptional factor GAL4 did not exhibit any effect at the tested concentration of TBT or TPT. Moreover, the yeast two-hybrid system using the interaction between p53 and the T antigen of SV40 large did not describe any effect at the tested concentration of OHT or ICI 182,780. However, the interaction between p53 and T antigen was inhibited at a TBT or TPT concentration of $10^{-9}$ M, respectively. These results indicate that TBT and TPT act as inhibitors of ER-dependent reporter gene transcriptional activation and of the interaction between $hER{\beta}$ LBD and the co-activator SRC1 in the yeast two-hybrid system. Consequently, our data could partly explain the occurrence of organotin compound-induced imposex on the endocrine system of mammals, including humans.

열탕 가열 중 한우 홍두깨살 및 아롱사태의 중심온도가 가열감량, 보수력, 표면색도 및 조직감에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Internal Temperature on Physical Properties of Hanwoo Beef Eye of Round and Center of Heel during Boiling)

  • 한우의 홍두깨살과 아롱사태를 열탕에서 가열하는 동안 중심온도에 따른 물리적 특성 변화를 확인하였다. 홍두깨살과 아롱사태의 pH 값은 각각 중심온도 $40^{\circ}C$$50^{\circ}C$에서 생육의 pH 값보다 유의적(p<0.05)으로 상승하기 시작하여 각각 $70^{\circ}C$$80^{\circ}C$에서 가장 크게 변화한 후, 그 이상의 온도에서는 유의적 차이를 나타나지 않았다. 홍두깨살과 아롱사태의 표면색도에서 $L^*$값은 각각 $50^{\circ}C$$60^{\circ}C$까지 유의적으로 높아졌으나, $a^*$값 및 $b^*$값은 모두 $80^{\circ}C$까지 낮아졌으며 (p<0.05), 모두 그 이상의 온도에서는 유의적 차이가 없었다. 홍두깨살과 아롱사태의 중심온도가 각각 $60^{\circ}C$$70^{\circ}C$에서 가열감량이 가장 높은 반면 보수력은 가장 낮게 나타났으며, 그 이상의 온도에서는 유의적 차이를 보이지 않았다. 홍두깨살과 아롱사태의 조직감에서 경도, 뭉침성 및 저작성은 각각 $70^{\circ}C$$80^{\circ}C$에서 가장 크게 변하고, 응집성은 각각 $60^{\circ}C$$70^{\circ}C$에서 가장 크게 변하였으며, 그 이상의 온도에서는 유의적 차이를 나타나지 않았다. 탄력성은 홍두깨살과 아롱사태의 중심온도가 각각 $70^{\circ}C$$80^{\circ}C$에서 유의적으로 높아진 후두 부위 모두 $90^{\circ}C$부터 유의적으로 낮아졌다(p<0.05). 홍두깨살은 아롱사태보다 가열에 의한 물리적 특성 변화가 빠르게 나타났다.
