남극 크릴새우의 고액분리 기술개발 (Development of Solid/Liquid Separation Technique for Krill (Eupausia superba))

  • 크릴새우의 고액분리효율을 규명하기 위하여 크릴새우를 해빙시킨 다음 고액분리기만 사용하였을 경우, 솔 (Brush) 분쇄기 또는 날 분쇄기로 크릴새우를 분쇄한 후 고액분리기를 사용하여 효율을 측정하였을 경우로 나누어 수행하였다. 고액분리기만으로 분리한 경우와 솔분쇄기와 날분쇄기로 분쇄한 후 고액 분리기를 적용한 결과 3차 시험에서 분리효율은 각각 46.2%, 60.2%, 60.4%를 나타내었다. 고액분리기만을 사용하였을 경우보다 날 분쇄기와의 조합에서 분리효율의 증가는 2차 시험에서 10.1%, 3차 시험에서 14.2%로 각각 나타났고, 처리용량은 4.2kg/min으로 되었다. 고액분리 전에 날분쇄기로 분쇄한 후 고액분리기로 분리하는 것이 이상적이라 판단된다.

주석 함유 폐자원의 공정부산물 전처리 기술 (Development of Pre-treatment for Tin Recovery from Waste Resources)

  • Fundamental experiences have been studied for development of pre-treatment process of Sn by-products such as solders. Dry and wet separation/recovery processes were considered by the differences of physical properties. The by-products, which are analyzed by solder metal and oxides. The metal and oxide were simply separated by dry ball-milling process for 12 hours, after that recovery metal powder might be reusable as lead or lead-free solders. In terms of wet separation process, samples were dissolved in $HNO_3+H_2O_2$ and the precipitation were analyzed by $SnO_2$. Overall efficiency of recovery might be increasing via developing simple pre-treatment process.

Alum과 PACl을 이용한 응집처리 (Chemical Coagulation Treatment Using Alum and PACl in Complex Wastewater)

  • In order to treat the complex wastewater containing organic compound and solids, pre-treatment system associated with molecular separation process were investigated. The reductions of COD and turbidity were obtained after coagulation processes using Alum (Aluminium sulfate, $Al_2(SO_4)_2{\cdot}18H_{2}O$) and PACl (poly aluminium chloride as 17% $Al_{2}O_{3}$). The results of study were as follows: using variable dosage of Alum, COD removal was highest at 4,000 mg/l, and the reduction of COD and turbidity was 42% and 92%, respectively. The optimum coagulation would be effective at pH 7.3 than pH 9.0 by the addition of alum at a concentration of 6,000 mg/l and PACl was add at 4.25% in raw complex wastewater with 2,000 mg/l alum at pH 7.3, the reduction of COD was reduced by 32%. But coagulation aid experiments indicated that PACl would be more effective in sludge separation ability than COD removal efficiency.

Removal of iron oxide scale from feed-water in thermal power plant using superconducting magnetic separation

  • The superconducting magnetic separation system has been developing to separate the iron oxide scale from the feed water of the thermal power plant. The accumulation in the boiler lowers the heat exchange rate or in the worst case damages it. For this reason, in order to prevent scale generation, controlling pH and redox potential is employed. However, these methods are not sufficient and then the chemical cleaning is performed regularly. A superconducting magnetic separation system is investigated for removing iron oxide scale in a feed water system. Water supply conditions of the thermal power plant are as follows, flow rate 400 t / h, flow speed 0.2 m / s, pressure 2 MPa, temperature $160-200^{\circ}C$, amount of scale generation 50 - 120 t / 2 years. The main iron oxide scale is magnetite (ferromagnetic substance) and its particle size is several tens ${\mu}m$. As the first step we are considering to introduce the system to the chemical cleaning process of the thermal power plant instead of the thermal power plant itself. The current status of development will be reported.

A Separation of manganese (II) and cobalt (II) ions by D2EHPA/TBP-immobilized PolyHIPE membrane

  • The D2EHPA/TBP co-extractants immobilized PolyHIPE membrane can be used for the selective separation of Mn (II) from Co (II). By solvent-nonsolvent method, D2EHPA/TBP co-extractants can be effectively immobilized into PolyHIPE membrane. The pore structure of PolyHIPE membrane and the presence of TBP enhance the stability of immobilized co-extractants. The optimal operating conditions for the separation of Mn (II) and Co (II) are feeding phase at pH 5.5, sulfuric acid concentration in the stripping phase of about 50 g/L and stirring speed at 400 rpm. The D2EHPA/TBP co-extractants ratio of 5:1 shows synergetic effect on Mn/Co separation factor about 22.74. The removal rate and recovery rate of Mn (II) is about 98.4 and 97.1%, respectively, while for Co (II) the transport efficiency is insignificant. The kinetic study of Mn (II) transport shows that high initial flux, $J_f^o=80.1({\mu}mol/m^2s)$, and maxima stripping flux, $J_s^{max}=20.8({\mu}mol/m^2s)$, can be achieved with D2EHPA/TBP co-extractants immobilized PolyHIPE membrane. The stability and reusability study shows that the membrane can maintain a long term performance with high efficiency. High purity of Co (II) and Mn (II) can be recovered from the feeding phase and stripping phase, respectively.

  • For analysis of Xanthene dyes according to the developing solvent and adsorbent was applied to Thin-layer chromatography with silicagel and cellulose plate. Silicagel chromato-plate used were prepared under different condition of activation. Using eight developing solvent, the influence of the condition for activation upon the separation of Xanthene dyes was investigated. The results are shown in Table 3. Methyl ethyl ketone+Acetone+$H_2O$ (10:0.1:0.4) mixture and n-butanol+Ammonia water (4:1) mixture gave clear separation for Xanthene dyes, including Fluorescein, Erythrosine Rhodamin B, Eosine, Rose bengale, phloxine and Acid red those Rf values decrease in the described ordor. Methyl ethyl ketone+Acetone+$H_2O$ (10:0.1:0.4) was applied to two adsorbents which were purchased from different manufactures. The results of Chromatograms are obtained Figure 6.

벽면에 근접해서 회전하는 원주의 유동장 특성 (The Flow Field Characteristics of a Rotating Circular Cylinder near a Plane Wall)

  • The flow around a rotating circular cylinder near a plane wall is investigated by the measurement of the lift acting on the cylinder and by the flow visualization using the hydrogen bubble technique in the circulating water tank. The experimental parameters are the rotating direction of the cylinder. the space ratios $H/D(H/D=0.05{\sim}0.5)$ between cylinder and plane wall and the velocity ratios ${\alpha}({\alpha}=0{\sim}{\pm}2.0)$. In the case of clockwise, the lift on the rotating circular cylinder was increased with the reduction of the space ratios and with the velocity ratios, the upper separation point was more shifted in the rotating direction with them. In the case of anticlockwise, the absolute value of the lift on the rotating circular cylinder was increased with increasing the space ratios and the velocity ratios. the lower separation point was more shifted in the rotating direction with them.

  • 혼합유기산으로부터 숙신산의 분리를 단극 분리막을 사용한 탈염전기투석장치를 이용하여 행하였다. 전류효율, 회수율, 에너지소요량, 분리비 등의 변화를 pH 값과 초기농도비에 따라 측정하였다. 숙신산의 분리는 숙신산과 아세트산의 이온화율, 분자량, 이온전도도, 전자가 크기 그리고 초기농도비 등으로 해석될 수 있었다.

  • In order to confirm the effect of $HI_x$ solution on Bunsen reaction in Sulfur-Iodine thermochemical hydrogen production process, the reaction was investigated using $HI_x$ solution as a reactant. The phase separation characteristics of reaction with $HI_x$ solution were compared with the reaction using $I_2$ and $H_2O$ as reactants. Firstly, saturation points of $I_2$ in $HI_x$ solution at various temperatures were investigated to determine reaction conditions. With increasing temperature, the amounts of unreacted $I_2$ and $H_2O$ in $HI_x$ solution were increased, while impurities (HI in $H_2SO_4$ phase and $H_2SO_4$ in $HI_x$ phase) in each phase were decreased. The volumes of $H_2SO_4$ phase obtained from Bunsen reaction with $HI_x$ solution was relatively less than those obtained from the reaction with $I_2$ and $H_2O$. The difficulty of phase separation in Bunsen reaction using $HI_x$ solution may be due to the insufficient amount of $H_2O$ existed in $HI_x$ phase after reaction. Therefore, we concluded that the supplement amount of $H_2O$ should be calculated on the basis of the moles of HI and $H_2SO_4$ and added to the reaction system for good phase separation.

프로필렌/질소 분리를 위한 가교 구조의 PGMA-co-PMMA/DAAB 분리막 (Cross-Linked PGMA-co-PMMA/DAAB Membranes for Propylene/Nitrogen Separation)

  • 올레핀 가스는 다양한 석유화학물질의 합성에 사용되는 산업적으로 매우 중요한 물질로, 합성 과정에서 미반응된 올레핀은 다량의 질소와 함께 배출된다. 이러한 화학 공정의 경제성을 향상시키기 위해서는 미반응한 올레핀을 질소로부터 효율적으로 회수해야 한다. 본 연구에서는 올레핀 중 프로필렌을 질소로부터 효과적으로 분리하기 위해 PGMA-co-PMMA (PGM) 가지형 공중합체를 합성하고, 4,4'-diaminoazobenzene (DAAB)를 도입하여 가교된 멤브레인을 제조하였다. PGM과 DAAB는 상온에서 에폭사이드-아민 반응을 통해 쉽게 반응하여 별도의 열처리 없이도 가교 구조의 멤브레인을 형성하였다. 유리상 고분자인 PGM 기반의 멤브레인은 C3H6에 비해 N2를 더 빠르게 투과시키는 결과를 나타내었는데, 순수 PGM 멤브레인의 경우, 0.12 barrer의 N2 투과도와, 32.4의 높은 N2/C3H6 선택도를 보고하였다. DAAB가 가교제로 도입됨에 따라 멤브레인의 열적 안정성이 크게 향상된 것을 TGA 결과로부터 확인하였다. 1 wt%의 DAAB 함량에서 N2/C3H6 선택도는 감소하였으나, N2 투과도가 약 4.7배 증가하는 결과를 나타내었다. 본 연구에서는 많이 연구되지 않은 유리상 고분자 기반의 멤브레인에서의 N2/C3H6 기체 분리 특성을 분석하였으며, 가교를 통해 멤브레인의 열적 안정성을 크게 향상시킬 수 있음을 확인하였다.
