This paper examines the effects of foreign direct investment (FDI) on South Asian economies' output growth, utilizing recent panel cointegration testing and estimation techniques. Annual panel data on eight SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) member countries' macroeconomic variables over the period 1960- 2013 are employed in empirical analysis. Using various heterogeneous panel cointegration and panel causality tests, a bi-directional relationship between FDI and growth is found. We find evidence for both FDI-led growth and growth-induced FDI hypotheses for the South Asian economies over the sample period. Individual member countries exhibit heterogeneity in terms of the direction or existence of causality subject to their idiosyncratic economic conditions. Among various regressors, FDI, financial development, human capital, and government consumption show the most significant positive effects on output growth. As determinants of FDI, GDP, financial development, human capital, and government consumption are found significant in the region. The bi-directional causality between FDI and growth is found robust to the inclusion of other control variables and using different estimation techniques.

The fatigue crack growth behavior of high strength X80 pipeline steel was investigated with compact tension specimens that crack growth directions were aligned either parallel or normal to the rolling direction of the pipeline. Also, the fatigue crack growth rates for welded joint of X80 pipeline steel were investigated with compact tension specimens that crack growth directions were aligned either parallel or normal to the welding line. The experimental results indicated the fatigue crack growth behavior was markedly different in three zones, weld metal, heat affected zone and base metal of welded joints. There was a trend toward increment in the fatigue life of weld metal and heat affected zone as compared with the X80 pipeline steel.

A recent trend in software reliability engineering accounts for the coverage growth behavior during testing. The coverage growth function (representing the coverage growth behavior) has become an essential component of software reliability models. Application of a coverage growth function requires the estimation of the coverage growth function. This paper considers the problem of estimating the coverage growth function. The existing maximum likelihood method is reviewed and corrected. A method of minimizing the sum of squares of the standardized prediction error is proposed for situations where the maximum likelihood method is not applicable.

The growth of crystals with high melting point$t_{fus}$$\geq$$1600^{\circ}C$ faces the researcher with experimental problems, as the choice of materials that withstand such high t is rather limited. Many metallic construction materials are in this high t range already molten or exhibit at least a drastically reduced mechanical strength. The very few materials with$t_{fus}$$1600^{\circ}C$ as e.g. W, Mo, and partially even Ir are more or less sensitive against oxygen upon heating. Whenever possible, high t crystal growth is performed under inert atmosphere (noble gases). Unfortunately, many oxides are not thermodynamically stable under such conditions, as reduction takes place within such atmosphere. A thoroughly search for suitable growth conditions has to be performed, that are on the one side "oxidative enough" to keep the oxides stable and on the other side "reductive enough" to avoid destruction of constructive parts of the crystal growth assembly. The relevant parameters are t and the oxygen partial pressure${po}_{2}$. The paper discusses quantitatively relevant properties of interesting oxides and construction materials and wasy to forecast theri behavior under growth conditions.

The age growth pattern of Myagropsis mygroides (Cystoseiraceae, Phaeophyta)population were investigated at Tongyeong (128$^{\circ}$ 25' E and 34$^{\circ}$ 45' N) in South coast of Korea, from September 1998 to August 1999. Water temperatures varied from 7.7${^{\circ}C}$ to 26${^{\circ}C}$ during the survey period. Distinct seasonal changes were found in the plant legth and wet weight of plant, and their maximum length and wet weight were attained 70.5(${\pm}$ 20.9) cm and 191.8(${\pm}$ 135.0) g during April and May. The growth patterns were divided into four periods of slow growth (September-November), fast growth (December-February), maturing growth (March-May) and declining period (June-August). The Tongyeong population of M. myagroides was dominated by less than three-year old small plants with slower growth rates, shorter plant length, lighter plant weight than those of other locations in Korea.

Purpose - This paper aims to explain the interactive relationship between small and medium-sized enterprises' clusters and regional economic growth, with Jiangsu Province as an illustrative example. It focuses on studying the promotional effects, if any, of small and medium-sized enterprises' cluster-development on regional economic growth, and vice-versa. Research design, data, and methodology - Data were collected from the Jiangsu Statistical Yearbook and the China Industrial Economic Statistical Yearbook, by selecting 26 industries as the research subjects. The sample interval selection is 1981-2012. The data were analyzed with the dynamic panel system using stata 12.0. Results - 1) The small and medium-sized enterprises' cluster degree and Jiangsu's economic growth have a long-term stable equilibrium relationship. 2) In the short term, they have a dynamic adjustment 3) The enterprises' cluster degree leads to regional economic growth in Jiangsu, but not vice-versa. Conclusions - Small and medium-sized enterprises' clusters have an important promotional effect on Jiangsu's economic growth, especially industries with high degree of agglomeration. Therefore, the formation of these clusters can significantly improve economic growth.

An improvement in the optical and structural properties of p-GaN was obtained by using antimony (Sb) as a surfactant during p-GaN growth. Two different growth temperatures of p-GaN such as $1030^{\circ}C$ and $900^{\circ}C$ were considered. Keeping the growth conditions for p-GaN constant, Sb was introduced during p-GaN growth while varying the [Sb]/([Ga]+[Mg]) flow ratio. [Sb]/([Ga]+[Mg]) flow ratio will be denoted as SGM ratio for convenience. SGM ratio of 0, 0.015 and 0.03% were considered for high temperature p-GaN growth. SGM ratio of 0, 0.005, 0.01 and 0.02% were considered for low temperature p-GaN growth. The analysis results suggest that using the optimum SGM ratio during p-GaN growth greatly improves the optical and structural properties of the p-GaN.

This experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of growth medium in pots composed of upland soil(S), rice straw manure(M), carbonated rice hull(CRH), and their mixture on growth of tobacco cv. NC 82. The growth of shoot and root was vigorous in order of medium S+M+CRH>M>CRH>S. In M+S medium, root growth in the part of manure was superior to upland soil. But root growth of upland soil part in M+S plot was more vigorous than that in upland soil only. It is possibly due to be influenced by manure in M+S plot. Total length and weight of root, number of roots, and especially for development of adventitious root were closely related to shoot growth. Roots grown in upland soil part was brownish gray in color, while the roots in manure part was milky white. The milky white colored roots had longer life than others. It was concluded that root zone environments derived from several media in pots closely related to shoot growth and disease tolerance of tobacco plant.

The growth effects of newly developed recombinant human growth hormone (rHGH), were compared with those of Biotropine. For the effective evaluation, we examined the increasing rate of body weight and the thickness of tibial epiphysis as criteria of growth effects on hypophysectomised female rats treated with varing concentration of rHGH for 4 days. rHGH treated groups showed significant body weight gain which was less evident in Biotropine and vehicle treatment group. In tibial epiphyseal test, rHGH also showed clear effects compared to Biotropine and vehicle treatment group. Above findings indicate that newly developed rHGH has better effects of growth stimulation on female rats than Biotropine does.

The hair-growth effect of Illite was suggested by some people who were using Illite as a beautifying material. We investigated the hair-growth effect of Illite powder. The hair-growth effects were investigated by two methods; the activity of hair-growth after shaving the hairs on the black mouse (C57BL/6) and the recovery activity of hair-growth after hair-loss induced by cyclophosphamide treatment. Suspension of Illite powder was applied to the back of the black mouse by method of skin paste. Illite promoted significantly the hair growth of mouse in both conditions of shaving and hair-loss. And then we investigated the toxicity which may be induced by Illite when it was administrated orally as a single dose. We could not fond out any significant toxicity induced by single dose oral administration of Illite.
