This study investigated the correlation between the trees planted on the slope of the first landfill where the landfill was completed and the soil environment. 69 plots (($7{\sim}20m{\times}5{\sim}20m$) were planted with 26 kinds of major trees in the first landfill slopes for vegetation survey. The survey was conducted from 2007 to 2009. Soil analysis from 2007 to 2008 was made on the basis of the injured index and the indicator species were selected. Depending on the rate of growth of the indicator species, seven survey locations were selected for soil sample analysis. 10 tree species appeared to adapt to the landfill environment. Among them, the coniferous trees were Pinus thunbergii (Seedling) and Juniperus chinensis and the deciduous trees were Quercus aliena, Salix preudo-lasiogyne, Castanea crenata (Seedling), Prunus armeniaca var. ansu, Quercus acutissima, Chionanthus retusus, Liriodendron tulipifera (Seedling) and Celtis sinensis. 8 species of trees did not adapt well to the landfill environment. Among them, two kinds were coniferous, the other six kinds were deciduous. In addition, judgment on the other 8 species of trees as to whether they adapted well or not was postponed. The species for which judgment was postponed included one coniferous tree and seven deciduous trees. Indicator species of injured index was the species that have more than 25 % of the defect. The soil was collected from where Catalpa ovata, Sophora japonica, Albizzia julibrissin and Acer palmatum were planted for analysis. According to the soil analysis, the soil pH showed that the soil was alkaline. Regarding the three phases of the soil, most sample soil showed 60 % for the solid phase or 55 % for the solid phase but with less than 10 % of gas phase. The organic matter content was found to be 0.14 to 2.52 %.

Achieving a highly resolved spatial distribution of Mn-bearing minerals and elements in the natural ferromanganese nodules can provide detailed knowledge of the temporal variations of geochemical conditions affecting the formation processes of nodules. While a recent study utilizing Raman spectroscopy has reported the changes in the manganate mineral phases with growth for spherical nodules from the Arctic Sea, the distributions of minerals and elements in the nodules from the shallow Arctic Sea with non-spherical forms have not yet fully elucidated. Here, we reported the micro-laser Raman spectra with varying data acquisition points along three different profiles from the center to the outermost rim of the non-spherical ferromanganese nodules collected from the East Siberian Sea (~73 m). The elemental distributions in the nodule (such as Mn, Fe, etc.) were also investigated by energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) analysis to observe the internal structure and mineralogical details. Based on the microscopic observation, the internal structures of a non-spherical nodule can be divided into three different regions, which are sediment-rich core, iron-rich substrate, and Mn-Fe layers. The Raman results show that the Mn-bearing mineral phases vary with the data acquisition points in the Mn-Fe layer, suggesting the changes in the geochemical conditions during nodule formation. In addition, we also observe that the mineral composition and structural characteristics depend on the profile direction from the core to the rim. Particularly, the Raman spectra obtained along one profile show the lack of Fe-(oxy)hydroxides and the noticeably high crystallinity of Mn-bearing minerals such as birnessite and todorokite. On the other hand, the spectra obtained along the other two profiles present the presence of significant amount of amorphous or poorly-ordered Fe-bearing minerals and the low crystallinity of Mn-bearing minerals. These results suggest that the diagenetic conditions varied with the different growth directions. We also observed the presence of halite in several layers in the nodule, which can be evidence of the alteration of seawater after nodule formation. The current results can provide the opportunity to obtain detailed knowledge of the formation process and geochemical environments recorded in the natural non-spherical ferromanganese nodule.

Thin films of ZnO are deposited by using an RF magnetron sputtering with varying the substrate temperature(RT~39$0^{\circ}C$) and RF power(50~250W). Cu-doped ZnO(denoted by ZnO:Cu) films have also been prepared by co-spputtering of a ZnO target on which some Cu-chips are attached. Different substrate materials, such as Si, $SiO_{2}/Si$, sapphire, DLC/Si, and poly-diamond/Si, are employed to compare the c-axial growth features of deposited ZnO films. Texture coefficient(TC) values for the (002)-preferential growth are estimated from the XRD spectra of deposited films. Optimal ranges of RF powers and substrate temperatures for obtaining high TC values are determined. Effects of Cu-doping conditions, such as relative Cu-chip sputtering areas, $O_{2}/(Ar+O_{2})$ mixing ratios, and reactor pressures, on TC values, electrical resistivities, and relative Cu-compositions of deposited ZnO:Cu films have been systematically investigated. XPS study shows that the relative densities of metallic $Cu(Cu^{0})$ atoms and $CuO(Cu^{2+})$-phases within deposited films may play an important role of determining their electrical resistivities. It should be noted from the experimental results that highly resistive(> $10^{10}{\Omega}cm$ ZnO films with high TC values(> 80%) can be achieved by Cu-doping. SAW devices with ZnO(or Zn):Cu)/IDT/$SiO_{2}$/Si configuration are also fabricated to estimate the effective electric-mechanical coupling coefficient($k_{eff}^{2}$) and the insertion loss. It is observed that the devices using the Cu-doped ZnO films have a higher $k_{eff}^{2}$ and a lower insertion loss, compared with those using the undoped films.
A total of 120 finishing crossbred pigs ($Landrace{\times}Large$$White{\times}Duroc$) with equal numbers of barrows and gilts weighing 58.5 kg body weight were used in a feeding trial, and 6 pigs (three of each sex) were used in a metabolic trial to investigate the effect of phase feeding. Finishing period was divided into two phases and 4 different diets were fed for those periods. Growth performance was not significantly different among treatments within the same sex. This result showed that 16% crude protein for early finishing period and 14% crude protein diet for late finishing period should be optimum. During the early finishing period, only feed intake was significantly different between sexes (p<0.01), but in late finishing period daily weight gain (p<0.001) and feed intake (p<0.01) of barrows were significantly higher than those of gilts. During the early finishing period, digestibilities of dry matter, protein and phosphorus were significantly higher in gilts than in barrows (p<0.05). However, there was no treatment effect within same sex during the early and late finishing period. During early finishing period, excretion of N of pigs fed 16% CP diet in early and 14% CP diet in late-finishing period was less than that of pigs fed 17% CP diet in early and 15% CP diet in late-finishing period (p<0.05), but the difference was not significant. During the late finishing period, N excretion with two phase feeding was reduced by 8.5% compared with single feeding. In gilts, total cost reduction by two phase feeding compared to single feeding was 9.1%, but in barrows it was just 3.19%. Relative margin increased with two phase feeding by 2.5% in gUts and 0.2% in barrows. There was a tendency that backfat thickness at 10th rib of gilts was thinner than that of barrows (p>0.05). Within the same sexes, there was no treatment effect on back fat thickness (p>0.05). Carcass grade was improved by two phase feeding compared to single feeding. Carcass grade of gilts was significantly better than that of barrows (p<0.001). From this results, it is concluded that finishing pigs could be fed two-phase diets to improve profit and reduce pollution.
Processing is generally employed to alter the physical and chemical properties of feeds used in pig diets, using hammer/roller mills, pellet mills and extruders/expanders. The reported optimum particle sizes of corn are approximately $500{\mu}m$, $500-700{\mu}m$, $400-600{\mu}m$, for nursery, growing-finishing, and breeder pigs respectively. Optimum particle size of grains are affected by diet complexity. There was a trend towards reducing particle size in order to increase ADG in pigs fed a simple diet, though such was not the case for pigs fed a complex diet. Uniformity of particle size also affects the nutritional values of swine feeds. Uniform particle sizes would consistently give greater nutrient digestibilities. In terms of pellet quality, it is reported that a higher incidence of fmes in pelleted feeds has a direct correlation with poorer feed conversion ratio in pigs. Particle and pellet sizes are also very important for pelleting in terms of grinding, digestibility, stomach ulceration and pellet durability. A particle size of $600{\mu}m$, or slightly less, seemed optimal for com in fmishing pigs, and the 5/32 in. diameter pellets supported the best efficiencies of gain during nursery and finishing phases. Extruder and/or expander processes would allow the feed industry an increased flexibility to utilize a wider spectrum of feed ingredients, and improve pellet quality of finished feeds. It would appear that extruded or expanded diets containing highly digestible ingredients have little effect on the growth performance of pigs, and the feeding values of the feeds over pelleted diets were not improved as pigs grew. The extruder or expander is much more effective than a pelletizer in salmonella control. Gastric ulcerations and/or keratinizations were consistently reported in pigs fed mash and processed diets containing finely ground grains, whereas carcass quality was not affected by diet processing methods such as pelleting, extruding or expanding. In corn- or sorghum-based diets, the electrical energy consumption is 4-5 times higher in the expanding than in the pelleting process. But the expander's processing cost was half of that shown by an extruder. Finally, the decision of which feed processing technology to adopt would depend on the processing cost, and any potential improvement in growth performance and digestibilities of nutrients should offset the increased operating and capital costs related to the extruder/expander technology over mash or pelleting processes in pigs.

The crystal phases precipitated in various compositions glass of CaO-$SiO_2-P_2O_5$ system, were identified by XRD. E composition (CaO 49.4, $SiO_2\;36.8,\;P_2O_5$ 8.8 wt%) glass in which both apatite(($Ca_{10}(PO_4)_6O$ and $\beta$-wollastonite($CaSiO_3$) crystals would precipitate by heating, was selected as an experimental composition to prepare the glass ceramics with high bending strength and good bioactivity to the living bone. Glass powders of E composition were unidirectionally crystallized at $1050^{\circ}$C in the temperature-gadient furnace and the resultant glass ceramics were characterized. Bending strength of the glass ceramics was also measured. To investigate the bond forming ability between the glass ceramics and living bone tissue, soaking test of glass ceramics in simulated body fluid was carried out. Densed glass ceramics composed of apatite and $\beta$-wollastonite crystal were prepared by unidirectional crystallization under the optimum conditions. (2 0 2) plane of $\beta$-wollastonite crystals tended to grow perpendicularly to the crystallization direction. Average bending strength of this glass ceramics was 186.9 MPa, higher than that of the glass ceramics prepared by isothermal (not directional) crystallization In soaking test, a thin layer of apatite crystallite was formed on surface of the glass ceramics in 3 days. Apatite crystals formed on the glass ceramics could be act a role to make the chemical bond between the glass ceramics and living bone tissue.

In the past few years, Sn-3.0Ag-0.5Cu (weight%) solder composition has been a representative material to electronic industries as a replacement of Pb-base solder alloy. Therefore, extensive studies on process and/or reliability related with the composition have been reported. However, recent rapid rise in Ag price has demanded solder compositions of low Ag content. In this study, Sn-3.0Ag-0.5Cu solder bar sample was fabricated by melting of Sn, Ag and Cu metal powders. Crystal structure and element concentration were analyzed by XRD, optical microscope, FE-SEM and EDS. The Sn-3.0Ag-0.5Cu solder sample was composed of ${\beta}$-Sn, ${\varepsilon}-Ag_3Sn$ and ${\eta}-Cu_6Sn_5$ phases.

Single crystal phased CaZrO3 : Eu3+ phosphor have been synthesized by skull melting method. The crystal structure, morphology and optical properties of synthesized phosphor were investigated XRD (X-ray diffraction), SEM (scanning electron microscopy), UV (ultraviolet) fluorescence reaction and PL (photo luminescence). The starting materials having chemical composition of CaO: ZrO2 : Eu2O3= 0.962 : 1.013 : 0.025 mol% were charged into a cold crucible. The cold crucible was 120 mm in inner diameter and 150 mm in inner height, and 3 kg of mixed powder (CaO, ZrO2 and Eu2O3) was completely melted within 1 hour at an oscillation frequency of 3.4 MHz, maintained in the molten state for 2 hours, and finally air-cooled. The XRD results show that synthesized phosphor is stabilized in orthorhombic perovskite structure without any impurity phases. The synthesized phosphor could be excited by UV light (254 or 365 nm) and the emission spectra results indicated that bright red luminescence of CaZrO3 : Eu3+ due to magnetic dipole transition 5D0→7F2 at 615 nm was dominant.

The effect of metal oxides($K_2O, MgO, CaO,Al_2O_3$, and $TiO_2$) on the kinds of pure $SiO_2$ phase, and $SiO_2$ phases in the composition of vitreous porcelain body was investigated. Also, the effect of the ratio $SiO_2$ to $Al_2O_3$ in the composition of porcelain body with stabilized of cristobalite phase was investigated. In the case of the addition of $K_2O, MgO, CaO, Al_2O_3$, and $TiO_2$ to pure $SiO_2$, the major phase was $\alpha$-cristobalite, $\alpha$-cristobalite, $\alpha$-quartz, $\alpha$-quartz and amorphous, respectively. As the ratio of $SiO_2$ to $Al_2O_3$ in the composition of porcelain body was decreased, the stabilization of cristobalite phase was promoted and only the critical value of $SiO_2/Al_2O_3$ ratio that stabilizing the cristobalite phase in it was 68.10/22.75. The addition of $K_2$O, MgO, CaO,Al_2O_3$, and $TiO_2$ to the composition of porcelain body stabilized already did not affect on the formation of $\alpha$-cristobalite phase which degraded the thermal properties of porcelain body, and suppressed the formation of a, $\beta$-cristobalite.

To improve the properties of $PbTiO_3$ thin films successfully grown by thermal diffusion of 3 component layers of $Ti0_2/Pb/TiO_2(900{\AA}/900{\AA}/900{\AA})$ in preceding research, 3, 5, 7, 9, and 11 multilayer structures $(TiO_2/Pb/.../Tio_2)$ with thinner component layer of $200~300 {\AA}$ thick were deposited on Si substrate by RF sputtering, which were followed by RTA to form $PbTiO_3$ thin films. As a result, $PbTiO_3$ single phase was formed above $500^{\circ}C$. When the thickness of component layer reduced and the number of component layers increased, suppression of Pb-silicate and voids formation resulted in relatively sharp interfaces and the film composition became more homogeneous. Relative dielectric constants in MIM structure were independent of the annealing condition, but they increased with increasing thickness of the $PbTiO_3$ thin films. The maximum breakdown field in MIS structure reached 150kV/cm.
