반복-굽힘 모멘트가 A15052/AFRP 적층재의 층간분리 영역과 피로균열진전에 미치는 영향 (The Influence of Cyclic-bending Moment on the Delamination Zone and the Fatigue Crack Propagation in A15052/AFRP Laminates)

  • A15052/AFRP laminates were developed principally to obtain a material with good fatigue strength, in which possible cracks would grow very slowly. Weight savings of more than 30% should be attainable in practice. Also, the crack bridging fibers could still was carry a significant part of the load over the crack, thus the COD and stress intensity factor was reduced at the crack tip. A15052/ AFRP laminates consists of three thin sheets of 5052-H34 aluminum alloy and two layers of [0] unidirectional aramid fiber prepreg. The cyclic-bending moment test was investigated based on applying the five kinds of bending moments. The size of the delamination zone produced between 5052-H34 aluminum alloy sheets and fiber-adhesive layers was measured from ultrasonic C-scan pictures taken around the fatigue crack. In addition, the relationship between the cyclic-bending moment and the delamination zone size was studied and the effect of fiber bridging mechanism was also considered.

Sr과 TiB 첨가에 따른 다이캐스팅용 Al-Si 합금의 미세조직과 공정온도의 변화 (Influence of Sr and TiB on the Microstructure and Eutectic Temperature of Al-12Si Die-Cast Alloys)

  • In order to develop a new commercial Al-12%Si casting alloy with improved physical properties, we investigated the effect of adding Sr and TiB to the alloy. Al-12%Si alloys were prepared by die casting at $660^{\circ}C$. The eutectic temperature of the Sr-modified Al-12%Si alloy decreased to $9^{\circ}C$ and the mushy zone region increased. The shape of the Si phase changed from coarse acicula to fine fiber with the addition of Sr. The addition of TiB in the Al-12%Si alloy reduced the size of the primary ${\alpha}$-Al and eutectic Si phases. When Sr and TiB were added together, it worked more effectively in refinement and modification. The density of twins in the Si phase-doped Sr increased and the width of the twins was refined to 5 nm. These results are related to the impurity induced twinning(IIT) growth.

RAS inhibitor를 이용한 항암제의 개발에 관하여

  • ras는 활성화 형태인 GTP bound form과 비활성화 형태인 GDP bound form의 두 형태로 존재하며 두 형태를 매개하는 regulatory protein들에 의해 그 activity가 조절된다. 또한 ras는 GTP와 GDP에 강한 친화성이 있으며 세포내에는 GTP보다 GDP가 더 많이 있어서 평소에는 ras가 GDP와 결합하고 있다가 활성화될때만 GTP와 결합하는 것으로 추정된다. GDP bound ras는 guanine nucloetide exchange protein(GEP)에 의해 활성화된 GTP bound form으로 전환되며 ras의 기능이 발휘된 후에는 GTPase activating protein(GAP)에 의해 비활성화된다. Yeast의 경우 IRA1과 2의 product가 GAP의 역할을 하는 것으로 알려져 있고 CDC25 gene의 product가 GEP의 기능을 담당하는 것으로 알려져 있다. NF1 gene은 Von Recklinghausen Neurofibromatosis Type I 질병을 가진 환자에게서 발견되었는데 부분적으로 sequencing한 결과에 따르면 yeast의 IRA1/2, mammalian GAP gene product와 protein homology가 높은 것으로 나타났다. Yeast의 경우 IRA1/2 gene의 손실이나 mammalian ras gene의 transformation으로 인한 heat shock sensitivity가 NF1 gene(2,3) 혹은 GAP(4)의 expression으로 suppression된 것으로 보아 NF1이 GAP protein으로서 ras를 불활성화 시킨다는 것이 판명되었다. 결론적으로 ras의 활성은 GTP bound 혹은 GDP bound의 양쪽형태를 이동하면서 조절되는데 이 기능은 GAP과 GEP 또는 그의 유사 protein들에 의해 수행되며 이러한 regulatory protein들은 growth factor, cytokine 그리고 protein kinase 같은 signal에 의해 활성화된다고 생각된다. 본 총설에서는 ras protein의 여러가지 성질보다는 ras의 modification과 관련하여 항암제로 사용할 수 있는 ras에 specific한 약품개발의 가능성과 현재 알려진 ras의 inhibitor를 중심으로 논하고자 한다.

Preparation of Functional Antibiotic and Deodorization Pigments Using Surface Modification Method for Special Papermaking

  • In this study, colloidal Ag solution was spouted on the surface of the inorganic pigment using the hybridizer system and the spray nozzle. Then, the surface of the inorganic pigment was modified by titanium dioxide in order to possess antibacterial ability. Nano-sized colloidal Ag was made by using a seed sol method in this study. It was confirmed that the size of particle per unit weight becomes enlarged, as the addition of $AgNO_{3}$ increased, and as the time of reaction increased, in the manufacturing process of nano-sized colloidal Ag. The antibacterial measurement of the inorganic pigment showed that the growth of fungus was reduced as the reaction time increased. It was measured that the antibacterial activity was excellent at fixed time frame, after the antibacterial ability appeared in $5{\sim}7$ hours of the antibacterial inoculation experiment. The experiment of titanium dioxide's Photocatalyst effect showed $60{\sim}70%$ efficiency in about 80 minute reaction time of the dissolution results regarding measurements of benzene. It was shown that more than 90% of the dissolution efficiency was achieved in the reaction time of about 30 minute.

기혼 남성들의 가사노동 참여 유형에 관한 사례 연구-맞벌이 부부를 중심으로- (A Case Study of Husbands' Housework Type-focused on dual-earner couples-)

  • The Korean family is changing. The growth in dual-earner households has been the 'revolution' of the century, implying inevitable modification of the role division in marriage toward greater symmetry of responsibility for breadwinning and homemaking. So, the purpose of this study is to understand husbands' housework and to investigate the change of the husbands' housework. This means to investigate how the husband is related to housework. For these research purpose, 60 dual-earner couples were deeply interviewed. The major discussions of this study can be summarized as follows: There are four types of housework in men's work, the type of refusal, the type of avoidance, the type of inevitability, and the type of participation. These types are taken order to understand change in housework is women's work. Men in the type of avoidance in household work is 25%, they have a tendency to avoid housework with making any excuses. People in the type of inevitability is 20%. These men are compelled to work in household owing to circumstances beyond control. 13% of couples is type of participation. These have a new idea of housework. They don't get the gender role division. They can become a good husband. and eventually solve conflicts and problems in couples.

인슐린을 고정화한 폴리우레탄 막의 제조 및 섬유아세포와의 상호작용 (Preparation of Insulin-Immobilized Polyurethane Films and Their Interaction with Fibroblasts)

  • Z-라이신 올리고머를 사슬연장제로 하고 D-다이페닐이소시아네이트와 폴리테트라메틸글리콜을 반응시켜 주사슬에 L-라이신 분절을 함유하는 폴리우레틴 (PULL)을 합성하였다. PULL 표면의 아민기와 인슐린의 공유 결합으로 인슐린 고정화 폴리우레탄 (PULL-In)을 제조하였다. Bradfold법으로 측정한 고정화 인슐린의 양은 약 0.30 nmol/$\textrm{cm}^2$이였다. $^3$H-thymidine 분석방법과 광학 현미경법으로 NIH/3T3 섬유아세포와 표면 개질된 PULL의 상호작용을 조사하였다. 그 결과 PULL-In 필름 표면에서의 세포 성장 속도는 다른 기질에서보다 높았다. 또한 고정화된 인슐린에서의 세포증식이 배양액에 용해된 인슐린에서와 거의 유사한 특성을 나타내었다.

포토센서를 이용한 태양위치 추적기의 성능분석에 관한 연구 (Performance Evaluation of a Solar Tracking PV System with Photo Sensors)

  • The conversion of solar radiation into electrical energy by Photo-Voltaic (PV) effect is a very promising technology, being clean, silent and reliable, with very small maintenance costs and small ecological impact. The output power produced by the PV panels depends strongly on the incident light radiation. The continuous modification of the sun-earth relative position determines a continuously changing of incident radiation on a fixed PV panel. The point of maximum received energy is reached when the direction of solar radiation is perpendicular on the panel surface. Thus an increase of the output energy of a given PV panel can be obtained by mounting the panel on a solar tracking device that follows the sun trajectory. Tracking systems that have two axes and follow the sun closely at all times during the day are currently the most popular. This paper presents research conducted into the performance of Solar tracking system with photosensors. The results show that an optimized dual-axis tracking system with photosensor performance and analysis. From the obtained results, it is seen that the sun tracking system improves the energy and energy efficiency of the PV panel.ti-junction CPV module promises to accelerate growth in photovoltaic power generation.

Current Status of Contraception

  • During the past decade great advance has been made in contraceptive technology. The development and subsequent modification of oral steroid contraceptive together with the improved design of other contraceptives have tremendously altered the contraceptive practise of complete throughout the world. At the present time one of most complex issue is the population explosion. In Korea the population growth rate is remarkably decreased from 3% in 1960s to 1.7% in 1984. Increasing proportion of women practising family planning and improved contraceptive methods have contributed on remarkable reduction of fertility rate. But still about half of married women not involved in family planning practise. One of the reasons why that so many women haven't participated in family planning should be undesirable side effects or inconvenience of currently available contraceptives. So we need more research to develop newer, safer and more effective contraceptive to solve the problems. According to recent report on the family planning program achievement in Korea, sterilization (male and female) is most popular, leading contraceptive method (330 cases/1000 fertile persons) and the I.U.D. (167.5/1000), condom (132.9/1000) and oral pill (61.1/1000) were followed by in the order of favorite choice of contraceptive (KIPH, Family planning evaluation report, 1984; KIPH Family plan Service Statistics, 1981-1984). In present paper the present status and knowledge of contraceptives will be summarized.

EasyCare : 심계질환자 관리를 위한 에이전트 기반의 u-헬스케어 시스템 (EasyCare : An Agent-based u-Healthcare System for Managing Patients with Heart Diseases)

  • Due to the growth of economy and the advancement of IT, the life expectancy has been prolonged and the interests in health have greatly increased. Recently the request for systems that enable measuring the bio-signals of patients in the non medical organizations, such as home, and transmitting them to medical staffs at remote sites for monitoring them. In this paper, we present an agent-based u-health system for patients or suspects with heart diseases. Our system consists of portable devices for measuring bio-signals and agents that perform data collection, data storage, automatic detection of abnormal status in patients, and HL7-based data exchange in a cooperative way. The main features of the system are : the agent-based architecture facilitates the addition of new service modules as well as the modification of existing ones; an intelligent agent is provided which automatically detects situations in which the bio-signals of patients are abnormal; the medical data standard is supported so that the communication with other systems is very easy. To our survey, there have been few previous systems which support all those features in a seamless way.

A comparison of individual and combined $_L$-phenylalanine ammonia lyase and cationic peroxidase transgenes for engineering resistance in tobacco to necrotrophic pathogens

  • This study tested the relative and combined efficacy of ShPx2 and ShPAL transgenes by comparing Nicotiana tabacum hybrids with enhanced levels of $_L$-phenylalanine ammonia lyase (PAL) activity and cationic peroxidase (Prx) activity with transgenic parental lines that overexpress either transgene. The PAL/Prx hybrids expressed both transgenes driven by the 35S CaMV promoter, and leaf PAL and Prx enzyme activities were similar to those of the relevant transgenic parent and seven- to tenfold higher than nontransgenic controls. Lignin levels in the PAL/Prx hybrids were higher than the PAL parent and nontransgenic controls, but not significantly higher than the Prx parent. All transgenic plants showed increased resistance to the necrotrophs Phytophthora parasitica pv. nicotianae and Cercospora nicotianae compared to nontransgenic controls, with a preponderance of smaller lesion categories produced in Prx-expressing lines. However, the PAL/Prx hybrids showed no significant increase in resistance to either pathogen relative to the Prx parental line. These data indicate that, in tobacco, the PAL and Prx transgenes do not act additively in disease resistance. Stacking with Prx did not prevent a visible growth inhibition from PAL overexpression. Practical use of ShPAL will likely require more sophisticated developmental control, and we conclude that ShPx2 is a preferred candidate for development as a resistance transgene.
