  • Research and Development(R&D) was once considered to be a unique, creative and unstructured process that was difficult, if not impossible, to manage and control. R&D decisions impact the entire enterprise. Therefore, decisions must not be based solely on R&D's perception of what is important or worthwhile. R&D contributions are difficult to measure separately from other functional organizations such as manufacturing and marketing. While some firms are attempting to overcome perceived limitations in traditional accounting-based performance measures using ROI, EVA, others are embracing the use of non-financial measures for decision making and performance evaluation. In particular, many firms are implementing 'Balanced Scorecard(BSC)' systems that supplement traditional accounting measures with non-financial measures focused on at least three other perspectives-customers, internal business processes, and learning and growth. AHP is a popular multi-attribute decision making model that allows for the development of importance rankings. The AHP has been applied in a wide variety of practical settings to model complex decision problems. The former, determine Perspectives and the Key Performance indicator(KPI) through the former research, the latter compose the questionnaire for determine the weight of perspectives and KPIs. And then, make a survey with researchers about 4 perspectives and 18 KPIs. The results will be simulate with Expert Choice 2000 for determine the weights. This results helps establish the firm's business strategy and technology strategy The firm should establish the business strategy to consider market position, business growth potential, and technological capabilities.

  • In this study, a firm's internationalization level was measured as the ratio of foreign sales to total sales (FSTS) of individual firms. A demonstration was conducted with several control variables that affect the persistence of the firm's profits using the Sloan (1996) model as a proxy for its primary relationship between net profit and the next profit. An empirical analysis of the end-December settlement firms listed on the securities market from 2011 to 2016 was conducted using a fixed-effect model to confirm that the persistence of the firm's internationalization and accounting profits was positive at the 1% significant level, indicating that the persistence of the firm's profits also increased as the level of individual firm's internationalization increased. In addition, the firm size, financial soundness, cash accompanying, growth, and investment ability, consistent with forecasts, represented a statistically significant (+) relationship with globalization. These results suggest that firms can maintain and expand their value stably by securing new overseas markets and promoting growth by implementing internationalization strategies.

  • To predict urban growth according to changes in landcover, probability factors werecal culated and mapped. Topographic, geographic and social and political factors were used as prediction variables for constructing probability maps of urban growth. Urban growth-related factors included elevation, slope, aspect, distance from road, road ratio, distance from the main city, land cover, environmental rating and legislative rating. Accounting for these factors, probability maps of urban growth were constr uctedusing frequency ratio (FR) and logistic regression (LR) methods and the effectiveness of the results was verified by the relative operating characteristic (ROC). ROC values of the urban growth probability index (UGPI) maps by the FR and LR models were 0.937 and 0.940, respectively. The LR map had a slightly higher ROC value than the FR map, but the numerical difference was slight, with both models showing similar results. The FR model is the simplest tool for probability analysis of urban growth, providing a faster and easier calculation process than other available tools. Additionally, the results can be easily interpreted. In contrast, for the LR model, only a limited amount of input data can be processed by the statistical program and a separate conversion process for input and output data is necessary. In conclusion, although the FR model is the simplest way to analyze the probability of urban growth, the LR model is more appropriate because it allows for quantitative analysis.

  • The linear instability of reacting shear flow is analyzed with special emphasis on the effects of the heat release and variable transport properties. Both analytic profiles and laminar solutions of the boundary-layer equations are used as base flows. The growth rates of the instabilities are sensitive to the laminar profiles, differing by more than a factor of 2 according to which profile is used. Thus, it is important to base the analysis on accurate laminar profiles. Accounting for variable transport properties also changes the mean profiles considerably, and so including them in the computation of the laminar profiles is equally important. At larger heat release, two modes that are stronger in the outer part of the shear layer have the highest growth rates; they also have shorter wavelengths than the center mode.

  • By the mid 1960's the rate of productivity growth in the manufacturing industries of the United States reached the lowest level ever recorded in the American economy. As a result the cost-offsetting operations that had been a century-long part of cost minimizing became less feasible. U.S. manufacturing firins apparently embarked on a pattern of a cost pass-along management. Accounting for price variation as a function of a shift from cost minimizing to cost pass-along is the main subject of this investigation. An econometric model of the inflation process is presented which indicates a clear shift in the modal behavior of manufacturing industries from cost minimizing (1948-1964) to cost pass-along (1965-1975). The latter behavior, initially triggered by the drag of resource diversion on the productivity growth process, undermines the pressure toward productive efficiency that is at the core of industrial engineering, and at the center of U.S. industry's ability to remain competitive.

  • This paper provides a new method of measuring the degree of technological progress which contributes to real economic growth based on Schumpeter's Trilogy. Using Microdata of Statistics Korea, the results of measuring and comparing the actual growth contribution of technological progress during the period 2003-2018 by the total factor productivity growth rate(growth accounting method), the R&D investment contribution rate, and the Schumpeterian innovation growth rate, respectively are as follows. First, the measurement of the real growth contribution of technological progress by the growth rate of total factor productivity and the growth rate of Schumpeterian innovation shows contradictory results. Second, when the growth rate of production is in a decreasing trend, the difference between the growth rate of production and the growth rate of total factor productivity increases compared to when it is in an increasing trend. Conversely, when there is an increasing trend, the difference between the growth rate of production and the growth rate of total factor productivity becomes smaller compared to when it is in a decreasing trend.. Third, the technological opportunity that affects the innovation growth rate, i.e., the contribution of R&D incentives to innovative growth is only 3.3%. The reason why this result is different from the existing perception of the contribution of technological progress to growth is that different entities are being measured while measuring the same term of technological progress. Therefore, the growth rate of total factor productivity should be used to measure macroeconomic efficiency, R&D investment should be used to measure the effectiveness of new technology supply, and the Schumpeterian innovation rate should be used to measure the economic impact of technological progress. The policy implications of the research results of this thesis are as follows: ① Transition from a policy of one-sided technology supply to a policy of convergence of technology supply and new technology demand support, ② Mission-oriented R&D policy and R&D policy that links national R&D with private R&D, ③ Reclassification of capital goods reflecting the degree of new knowledge.

  • The seasonal pattern of pool size and withdrawal from senescing or stroage organ, and the annual magintude of internal-and plant-soil cycles for nitrogen and phosphorus in a Glyceria leptolepis Ohwi population in a marsh of the Mt. Geumoh were investigared. The population pool changed from initial size of 6.8 to the maximum of 16.1gN$m^{-2}$ for N and from 1.7 to 3.9g Pm$m^{-2}$ for P, maintaining far higher relative pool size during the first half of the growth period as compared with that for biomass. A sharp increase in N and P pool was noticed in early spring before the biomass growth was recognized, The major process supplying the demand for N and P changed as the growth progressed showing the order; absorption-withdrwal-absorption-with-drawal. The annual magnitude of plant-soil cycle for N and P was 18.0-19.1 and 2.9-3.3gm$m^{-2}$, accounting for 3 and 5% of each nutrient pool in 0-20 cm humus layer, respectively. The higher exent of internal cycle and the lower rate of annual turnover for P(1.08) as compared with those for N may suggest that this population conserves and reuses P more efficiently than N.
