  • This study aims to categorize age groups for shoes manufacturing including shoes size and boot tree development for Koreans. In order to carry out the research, the characteristics of different parts of foot in relation to size are analyzed according to age and sex, making use of human body measurement database. As a result of statistical analysis, it was found that the measurement items such as foot length, metatarsal tibiale, foot breadth and instep circumference of a person reached the range of standard deviation and average numerical figures of an adult group (18-24) from the age of 14 in men's case, and from 12 for women's case, which indicates the time of completion of their foot growth. Based on these findings where males of 14 years old and females of 12 are within similar measurement range to adults, it is necessary to categorize the age groups for shoe sizing system into the following four groups: males 13 years old or under, males 14 years old or over, females 11 years or under, and females 12 years or over. The proportional measurement produced by dividing each measurement item of foot parts by foot length was compared in an independent samples t-test, and there were meaningful differences according to different foot shapes of the two age groups of males 13 or under - males 14 or over, and females 11 or under - females 12 or over. Also, the independent samples t-test for the age groups of males 13 or under - females 11 or under, and males 14 or over - female 12 or over, showed similar meaningful differences, which indicates the differences in foot shapes of male and female during the period of growth.

  • In the current ${\Lambda}CDM$ hierarchical merging paradigm, a galaxy like the Milky Way formed by numerous mergers of ancient subsystems. Most of the relics of these building blocks, however, are yet to be discovered or identified. Recent progress in the Milky Way globular cluster research is throwing new light on this perspective. The discoveries of multiple stellar populations having different heavy element abundances in some massive globular clusters are suggesting that they are most likely the remaining cores or relics of disrupted dwarf galaxies. In this talk, we will report our progress in the (1) narrow-band photometry, (2) low-resolution spectroscopy, and (3) population modeling for this growing group of peculiar globular clusters.

  • Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has the potential to provide economic opportunities and help raise the social and political status of countries. For developing countries, ICT can be used as a tool for economic growth and social advancement in a short period of time. The benefits of ICT, however, are not only economic in nature. It can help improve professional skills, teaching quality, job creation, agricultural production, community involvement, and information use, personal relationships, and time use. These benefits are examples of how ICT has become an indispensable part of our lives. Myanmar is a developing country and is ranked low in the ICT Development Index. In terms of ICT development, Myanmar today is facing many issues such as a lack of telecommunication infrastructure, ICT awareness, electricity, and budget for ICT development. Among the economic reforms implemented by the recent government, the telecommunications sector has been opened up as a measure of economic reform. As a result of this reform, the telecommunications sector has been growing rapidly. Myanmar, however, remains behind other Asian countries. This paper discusses Myanmar's ICT infrastructure status, progress that has been made in the country's telecommunications over the last fifteen years, and the challenges that lie ahead.

  • Tilia amurensis is an important honey plant. As T. amurensis mainly distributes mountainous area with various elevations in Korea, accurate prediction of blooming time at the different elevation would benefit forest beekeepers. In this study, we measured time-dependent blooming progress of T. amurensis in Mt. Gariwang area ranging from 500-1500m. Additionally we collected blooming data from web and published literatures and estimated the variation of blooming time relative to the geographic locations. Flowers began to bloom from July 6 to July 22 with full blooming on July 14 in location where elevation is 638m in Mt. G ariwang area in 2021. Based on these databases, a growing degree day (G DD) model was developed for prediction of T. amurensis blooming progress using average daily temperatures. Using the starting date of G DD accumulation of January 1 and base temperature of 5 ℃, blooming period ranging from 10% to 90% of cumulative blooming rate was estimated as 860-1198 degree days (DD). This corresponded to the beginning to the end of July in Mt. Gariwaning area in 2021. This model could explain the phenological variations of T. amurensis flower blooming possibly affected by elevation within geographic area, latitude or year relative to the climate change, and aid forest beekeepers for better timing of nectar foraging by honey bees.

  • With the growing importance of the fishery industry and the rapid growth of the aquaculture industry, research on smart farms through ICT convergence in the aquaculture field is in progress. To enable monitoring of the growing environment at the farm site, an underwater drone drive unit, an image collection device, an integrated controller for posture stabilization, and a remote control device capable of controlling and controlling drones through real-time underwater images were proposed, and design, development, and tests were conducted. By utilizing underwater drones, it is possible to replace the supply and demand of manpower and high-cost work in the aquaculture industry, and to manage fish farms in a stable manner by reducing the probability of farming deaths.

  • We tried to build human models based on medical images of live Korean, instead of using standard data of human body structures. Characteristics of mechanical structures of human bodies were obtained from medical images such as CT and MR images. For each constitutional part of mechanical structures CT images were analyzed in terms of gray levels and MR images were analyzed in terms of pulse sequence. Characteristic features of various mechanical structures were extracted from the analyses. Based on the characteristics of each structuring element we peformed image segmentation on CT and MR images. We delineated bones, muscles, ligaments and tendons from CT and MR images using image segmentation or manual drawing. For the image segmentation we compared the edge detection method, region growing method and intensity threshold method and applied an optimal compound of these methods for the best segmentation results. Segmented mechanical structures of the head/neck part were three dimensionally reconstructed.

  • Vacuum pumping remains central to the performance and economy of many manufacturing processes, scientific instruments and scientific research. More vacuum is being used in many of the latest or leading edge manufacturing processes: Current examples include 3D semiconductor devices, EUV lithography, 450 mm silicon wafers, AMOLED displays, LEDs, Lithium-ion batteries and steel degassing. In other applications, vacuum pumping technology developments have led to much lower product costs which for example have enabled mass spectrometers to become a ubiquitous tool is life science research. Vacuum pumps have continuously evolved during the past 100 years of vacuum-based industrial processing but remain a key component which is often on the critical path of process and product improvements. This is especially so in the growing number of applications where the pumps are highly stressed. This presentation outlines significant developments in vacuum that have brought about this progress. The likely course of continued improvements is discussed in terms of increased performance and reliability, robust by-product handling, better cost efficiency and reduced environmental impact especially power consumption.

  • Bubble behavior is studied with an electrode system which consists of coaxial spiral coil-to-cylindrical electrode with an insulation barrier and spacers and is immersed in liquid nitrogen for simulation of insulation environments in high temperature superconducting(HTS) coils The results show that the bubble behavior Is affected severely by electric field: (1) under low applied voltage bubbles rise by buoyancy, but at higher applied voltage they are trapped in a lower electric field region below the coil electrode, and (2) the trapped bubble flows along the downside of coil electrode if no obstruction is in a groove between coil turns. but it splashes out of the groove after its growing if the obstruction such as spacer-exists.

  • The tractor is the most important machine for farming keeping probably this position also for feeding the future fast growing world population. Band width of power and functions continues to increase worldwide, examples are given. Regarding the high developed countries, general farming demands as well as precision farming issues require closed loop control principles for the system "driver-tractor-implement". Progress in information technologies supports this trend, but comprehensive component and system developments are necessary to make the tractor ready for automatic or semi-automatic controls. The following technical highlights are, for example, discussed for Europe: hydropneumatic front axle suspensions, 50 km/h top speed, front brakes, electronically controlled multivalve diesel engines, automatic hydrostatic power split CVTs, load sensing hydraulics with proportional valves, improved cab and working places with "operations by wire" and more electronics on board than ever before.

  • There is a rapidly growing demand for wireless telecommunication. However, the number of usable channel is very limited. Therefore, the problem of channel assignment becomes more and more important to use channels as efficiently as possible. The objective of this paper is to develop an evolution program (EP) to find an efficient dynamic channel assignment method for minimum interference among the channels within reasonable time. The series of specific channel number is used as a representation of chromosome. The only changed chromosomes by crossover and mutation are evaluated in each generation to save computation time and memory for the progress of improved EP. We can easily differentiate the fitness value of each chromosome using proposed evaluation function. We also control the weighting factor of the mutation rate and the used number of elitist chromosomes for the speed of convergence to the optimal solution.
