A Study on Parameters for Optimizing Cognitive Distance in Virtual Environment (가상공간에서의 거리감 인지 최적화를 위한 제어 요소 도출 연구)

  • 현실의 물리적인 공간에서의 상호작용으로 얻은 경험을 가상현실에서 완전 몰입형 HMD를 착용한 사용자에게 동일하게 제공하기 위해서는 가상공간 내의 사물의 위치, 높이와 같은 거리감을 효율적으로 제공하는 것은 매우 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 사용자가 느끼는 실재와 가상 간 거리감 보정을 위한 제어 요소 도출을 위해 인체 데이터인 IPD, 키, 눈높이를 측정하여 실험에 반영한다. 실험 시 보다 높은 가상공간 상 거리감 인지를 위해 현실에서의 50cm, 100cm 거리감 인지 훈련을 수행한다. 실험자는 가상공간 상에서 85cm 거리에 위치한 판자를 시각적으로 가늠 후 인지한 만큼 이동하게 되고 그 거리를 측정한다. 측정된 데이터들을 바탕으로 한 분산 분석을 통해 각 데이터 간의 관계를 파악한다.

Two phase p-median approach to nondegenerate GT cell formation (GT 생산시스템에서 비퇴화 셀 형성을 위한 2 단계 p-median 접근법)

  • This study is concerned with the development of efficient p-median approach to nondegenerate cell formation(CF) in group technology(GT) manufacturing. Unlike most of existing CF methodologies allowing degenerate cells or families that contains no parts or machines, this study attempts to find cell configuration where each machine cell contains at least two or more machines processing at least two or more parts so as to fully utilize the similarity in designing and processing parts. Nondegenerate CF seeks to minimize both the exceptional elements outside the diagonal block and the voids within the diagonal block. To find nondegenerate cells, a two-phase p-median methodology is proposed. In phase 1, the classical p-median model is implemented to find initial cells. In phase 2, bottleneck machines and parts are reassigned until no further degenerate cells and families are found. Test results on moderately medium-sized CF problems show the substantial efficiency of the proposed approach.

Development of Image Processing Algorithm Using Boundary Curvature Information in Particle Size Measurement (영상 처리 기법에서 곡률을 이용한 입경 측정 알고리듬의 개발)

  • In the present study, a new pattern recognition algorithm was proposed to size spray particles using the boundary curvature information. Conceptually, this algorithm has an advantage over the others because it can identify the particle size and shape simultaneously, and also can separate the overlapped particles more effectively. Curvature of a boundary was obtained from the change of the slopes of two neighboring segments at the corresponding part. The algorithm developed in this study was tested by using an artificially prepared image of a group of spherical particles which were either isolated or overlapped. Particle sizes obtained from the measured curvatures agreed well with the true values. By detecting abrupt changes of the curvature along the image boundary, the element particles could be separated out from their overlapped images successfully.

  • One of the requirements for autonomous vehicles on off-road is to move stably in unstructured environments. Such capacity of autonomous vehicles is one of the most important abilities in consideration of mobility. So, many researchers use contact and/or non-contact methods to determine a terrain whether the vehicle can move on or not. In this paper we introduce an algorithm to classify terrains using visual information(one of the non-contacting methods). As a pre-processing, a contrast enhancement technique is introduced to improve classification of terrain. Also, for conducting classification algorithm, training images are grouped according to materials of the surface, and then Bayesian classification are applied to new images to determine membership to each group. In addition to the classification, we can build Traversability map specified by friction coefficients on which autonomous vehicles can decide to go or not. Experiments are made with Load-Cell to determine real friction coefficients of various terrains.

  • As computer systems to make medical practice easy are widely used, a special hardware system processing medical data fast becomes more important. To meet the urgent demand for high speed image processing, especially image compression and decompression, we designed and implemented the medical image CODEC (COder/BECoder) based on MISD(Multiple Instruction Single Data stream) architecture to adopt parallelism in it. Considering not being a standart scheme of medical mage compression/decompress ion, the CODEC is designed programable and general. In this paper, we use JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group) algorithm to process images fast and evalutate it.

Numerical modelling and finite element analysis of stress wave propagation for ultrasonic pulse velocity testing of concrete

  • Stress wave propagation through concrete is simulated by finite element analysis. The concrete medium is modeled as a homogeneous material with smeared properties to investigate and establish the suitable finite element analysis method (explicit versus implicit) and analysis parameters (element size, and solution time increment) also suitable for rigorous investigation. In the next step, finite element analysis model of the medium is developed using a digital image processing technique, which distinguishes the mortar and aggregate phases of concrete. The mortar and aggregate phase topologies are, then, directly mapped to the finite element mesh to form a heterogeneous concrete model. The heterogeneous concrete model is then used to simulate wave propagation. The veracity of the model is demonstrated by evaluating the intrinsic parameters of nondestructive ultrasonic pulse velocity testing of concrete. Quantitative relationships between aggregate size and testing frequency for nondestructive testing are presented.

  • This study examined individual differences in navigating in hyperspace learning environment where a minimum structure is provided. Using a hypercard stack called "Pearl Harbor", Field Dependent people used guidance more often than those in Field Indepedent; FI achieved scored higher at the end of the study; and FI people had some type of pattern showing from them audit trail when FD people did not show any trail of patterns. Also people with higher visual thinking scores achieved higher scores in hyperspace environment.

  • ReMP(Reliable Multipeer Protocol)는 멀티미디어 그룹 통신을 지원하기 위해 설계된 신뢰성 있는 다자간 전송 프로토콜이다ㅣ. 본 논문에서는 ReMP가 제한된 환경에서도 올바르게 동작함을 증명하였으며, 호스트에서의 처리량 관점에서 데이터 전송에 대한 성능 분석을 시도하였다. 또한 이를 토대로 ReMP는 성능이나 메모리 요구량 관점에 비추어 볼 때, 다른 비교 대상 프로토콜들보다 광범위한 용도의 멀티미디어 그룹 통신에 적용되어질 수 있음을 알 수 있다.

An Efficient Unicast using ODMRP in Ad Hoc Networks (Ad-hoc망에서 ODMRP을 사용한 효율적인 유니캐스트 라우팅 프로토콜)

  • 본 논문에서는 Ad-hoc 망의 멀티캐스트 라우팅 프로토콜인 ODMRP(On-Demand Multicast Routing Protocol)에서 효율적인 유니캐스트 라우팅 프로토콜을 제안한다. ODMRP는 네트워크 상에서 멀티캐스트그룹의 송신원으로부터 수신원에 이르는 경로상에 있는 노드들을 Fe(Forwarding Group) 노드로 선출하여 이들이 해당 멀티 캐스트그룹에 속하는 패킷을 플러딩 하도록 함으로써 데이터를 전송하는 방안이다. 이러한 ODMRP에서는 어느 한 노드가 유니캐스트 모드로(end-to end) 데이터를 전송해야 하는 경우 경로를 찾기 위해 주기적인 플러딩 과정을 거쳐야 하고 이로 인해 오버헤드가 발생하게 된다. 본 논문에서는 이 문제점을 해결하고자 유니캐스트 모드에서 송신원에서 찾은 경로를 DR 라우팅 테이블에 저장해두고 데이터를 보련 때 DR 라우팅 테이블의 정보를 참조함으로써 수신원에서의 불필요한 컨트롤 패킷(JOIN QUERY, JOIN REPLY)으로 인한 트래픽을 줄일 수 있는 방안을 제안한다. 또한 제안된 방식이 기존의 ODMRP 방식보다 데이터의 전송 시간과 경로를 찾는 시간에 있어 개선되었음을 시뮬레이션을 통해 입증한다.

Analysis of Driving Performances on the Characteristics of Drivers (운전자의 특성에 따른 자동차 운전 수행도 분석)

  • Driving performance is characterized by many things such as driver's experience period, age, ability of information processing and reaction time of control devices and so forth. However, each factor of driving performance is needed to help and screen a poor driver for safe driving. In this paper, driving performance was estimated by reaction of manipulating brake, accelerator, steering wheel and speed. Subjects were grouped by experience of accident and age. Combinations of every group were analysed. For all the dependent variables, only steering wheel and speed were shown to have significant difference, which could be regarded as visual information of speed and direction were the important factors to drive safely. Especially for tile elderly, it is needed to enhance their ability of visual information processing that is to be decreased with aging. Therefore driving simulator to train and screen the poor driver should be studied.
